The junior from Frostproof, Florida also led the team and ranked eighth in the SLC with eight rushing touchdowns. It's the second consecutive year to lead the league in both categories and will end his career by becoming the first player to average a sack a game in school history with 18 quarterback sacks in 18 career games played. The junior from St. Louis played a season-high 771 snaps, made 15 pancake blocks and had zero penalties against him on the year. He led the league in sacks (10.5), tackles for loss (15.5) and forced fumbles (5) while earning a pair of Defensive Player of the Week honors.   McNeese defensive lineman and Houston native Isaiah Chambers forced a fumble early that led to the first touchdown of the game and the Cowboys crushed Houston Baptist 44-3 on Saturday. Chambers went on to record two sacks and three tackles for a loss, forced two fumbles, broke up a pass and hurried the quarterback four times. Defensively, McNeese (4-6, 3-4 Southland Conference) held the Huskies (0-10, 0-7) to 182 total offensive yards and seven net yards rushing. McNeese quarterback Cody Orgeron finished with 205 yards passing and two touchdowns; increasing his career total to 50. He threw his first career TD pass three years ago in Husky Stadium. Offensively, McNeese rolled up a season-high 505 total yards with a season best 293 on the ground. Deonta McMahon had a career-hight 124 yards on 23 carries.   Deonta McMahon rushed for two touchdowns, the McNeese defense intercepted three passes, despite allowing 455 yards passing, and the Cowboys held off Incarnate Word 28-20 on Saturday. Colby Richardson, Jarrius Wallace and Mason Kinsey each intercepted a pass by Cameron Ward, who completed 39 of 59 passes for 455 yards with two touchdowns, three interceptions and a lost fumble. The McNeese defense had 10 sacks, including Kordell Williams' stop on the final offensive play by UIW. Cody Orgeron completed 10-of-12 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown for McNeese (3-4, 2-2 Southland). He also rushed for 57 yards, moving past 1,000 for his career, and a score. Orgeron found Jamal Pettigrew on fourth-and-1 on a play-action pass for a 49-yard touchdown to open the scoring. McMahon scored his two touchdowns in the first half to give McNeese a 21-0 lead.   Cody Orgeron threw for two touchdowns and Josh Parker ran for two as McNeese defeated Northwestern State 35-17 on Saturday. Parker's second score, on a 19-yard run to cap a nine-play, five-minute drive, staked the Cowboys (2-4, 1-2 Southland Conference) to a 28-3 lead midway through the third quarter. Orgeron completed 16 of 25 passes for 176 yards. Parker gained 74 yards on 16 carries. Parker's first touchdown came after Northwestern State was pinned at its 1-yard line and managed a 32-yard punt, giving the Cowboys a short field. McNeese scored in three plays. Northwestern State's Zach Clement came on in relief at quarterback and scored twice late for the Demons (1-5, 1-2). Clement was 8-of-15 passing for 147 yards and rushed for a net of minus-7 yards with two sacks. Eddie Godina kicked a 26-yard field goal as the Demons took the early 3-0 lead.   Mason Pierce returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and Cody Orgeron tossed a 3-yard scoring pass to Josh Matthews early in the fourth quarter to help McNeese rally past Southern 31-24 in nonconference play on Saturday. The first half was all Ladarius Skelton and Southern after Pierce's TD return for the Cowboys (1-2). Skelton had scoring throws of 42 yards to Travis Tucker and 7 yards to Devon Benn to put the Jaguars (1-2) up 14-7 with 5:50 left in the first quarter. After a Jacob Abel 32-yard field goal pulled McNeese within 14-10, Skelton struck again with a 42-yard scoring strike to Ethan Howard for a 21-10 halftime lead.

The tide turned on Southern's first possession of the second half when Jarrius Wallace intercepted Skelton and returned it 21 yards to the Jaguars' 26-yard line. A penalty on the Jaguars moved the ball the the 13 and Stephon Huderson scored on first down to cut the Cowboys' deficit to four just 2:41 into the third quarter. Abel's second field goal - a 25-yarder - had McNeese within a point heading to the final quarter. Orgeron's TD strike made it 28-21 and Abel booted his third field goal to push the lead to 10 with 7:59 remaining. Orgeron completed just 7 of 16 passes for 75 yards for McNeese.   Arizona Wildcats safety Jarrius Wallace has decided to leave the football program and enter the NCAA transfer portal. Wallace, a redshirt senior, played in one game for UA in the 2020 season. He recorded two tackles in the season opener against USC on Nov. 14. In his four-year Wildcat career, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back played in 37 games, recording 73 solo tackles with two interceptions and seven defended passes. - Arizona Star News
