  Cam Cook rushed for 117 yards and three touchdown, Caden Creel threw for 116 yards and a touchdown, and Jacksonville State beat Delaware 38-25 on Wednesday night. Jacksonville State (4-3, 3-0 Conference USA) has won nine straight at AmFirst Stadium. Jacksonville State scored the opening 21 points and extended it to 35-6 after Cook's two short touchdown runs in the third quarter. Garrison Rippa made a 52-yard field goal with 11:57 left in the fourth for a 38-12 lead.

Creel also carried it 12 times for 57 yards for Jacksonville State. Brock Rechsteiner had three catches for 48 yards and a score. Caleb Nix scored for the defense on a 45-yard fumble return. Nick Minicucci was 32 of 50 for 422 yards and a touchdown for Delaware (3-3, 1-2). Viron Ellison Jr. had three short touchdown runs.   Cam Cook rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns, and Garrison Rippa made a game-winning 52-yard field goal as time expired to give Jacksonville State a 29-27 victory over Sam Houston on Thursday night. Jacksonville State started the final drive at its 17-yard line with 47 seconds left. Cook got the drive going with an 18-yard run and Pearson Baldwin made a 17-yard catch over the middle with five seconds left.

Caden Creel found Baldwin again for a 5-yard gain to get into better field position for Rippa, who entered with a 50-yard make earlier this season, to attempt a career-long kick. Creel had 129 yards throwing and 132 yards rushing for Jacksonville State (3-3, 2-0 Conference USA). Hunter Watson threw for three touchdowns for Sam Houston (0-6, 0-3), which returned home after playing four of its first five games on the road for the first time since 2010. Sam Houston has started 0-6 for the second time in three seasons.   Cam Cook powered a 329-yard rushing day and Jacksonville State ran away from Murray State 45-10 on Saturday. Cook carried 22 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Jacksonville State finished 6-for-6 in the red zone. The Gamecocks (2-2) broke through late in the first with a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive, then stacked 17 second-quarter points for a 24-3 halftime lead. After the Racers (0-4) reached the 3-yard line early in the third, Jacksonville State erased the threat with an end-zone interception and answered with touchdown marches of 84 and 72 yards to make it 38-10. A fourth-quarter drive of 72 yards capped the scoring.

Khristian Lando added 68 yards and a score, Caden Creel rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown and Gavin Wimsatt chipped in 50 yards and a score. Wimsatt went 16 of 29 for 189 yards passing and a touchdown, finding Brock Rechsteiner five times for 89 yards and a 35-yard score. Murray State had 233 total yards and Jim Ogle finished 17 of 27 for 130 yards with two interceptions. Cook toted the rock 29 times for 195 yards and scored twice to help the Gamecocks (1-1, 1-0 CUSA) come away with a 34-24 victory. It was the junior's first 100-yard rushing day, and he had touchdown runs of 11 and one yard. Eight of his carries went better than 10 yards, including a long of 31 yards. Jax State ran for 131 yards in the fourth quarter alone, and Cook accounted for 72 of those yards on just eight carries. - Conference USA Football

  Cam Cook ran for 195 yards with two touchdowns and Jacksonville State defeated Liberty 34-24 on Saturday in a Conference USA opener between the past two league champions. Jax State (1-1) turned two takeaways - a fumble and an interception - into 14 points in the first half. The Gamecocks led 17-10 at halftime and 24-10 in the third quarter after Cook's 1-yard touchdown run. That touchdown came at the end of an 83-yard drive and the Gamecocks scored on a 75-yard drive to take a 31-17 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

Two long touchdowns in the fourth quarter kept Liberty within seven points. A 52-yard run by Evan Dickens made it 24-17 and a 62-yard pass play from Ethan Vasko to Donte Lee Jr. made it 31-24 before Jax State's Garrison Rippa kicked a 24-yard field goal for the final score. Rippa had a 50-yard field goal in the first half. Jacksonville State had 338 yards rushing. Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt, who had 78 yards rushing, completed 6 of 12 passes for 52 yards. Vasko threw for 335 yards on 19-for-29 passing for Liberty (1-1). The game was delayed for about 80 minutes in the second quarter due to lightning in the area. - AP College Football

  2023 SOUTHERN CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Tyler Huff, Gr., QB, Furman,...Entering postseason play, Furman's Tyler Huff is 14th in the FCS in completion percentage (.667). Huff leads all SoCon quarterbacks in rushing yards (488), which is 10th overall in the conference, despite missing the final two games of the regular season due to injury. Huff has completed 150-of-225 passes with just four interceptions this season. In addition to his nine passing TDs, he has also rushed for five scores. During a three-game stretch in October, Huff tossed two touchdowns in each game while rushing for at least 79 yards in each contest. Huff claimed SoCon Offensive Player of the Week honors twice this season and was the SoCon Offensive Player of the Month in October.   Over six years since he first committed to Rich Rodriguez at Arizona, Jamarye Joiner is pledging to RichRod again. Joiner, a Tucson native and wide receiver who entered the transfer portal following the 2022 season, announced on Twitter Tuesday morning that he's committed to Jacksonville State. Rodriguez is the Gamecocks' head coach; former Arizona quarterbacks coach Rod Smith is JSU's offensive coordinator.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 220-pound Cienega High School product was recruited by the Rodriguez regime to play quarterback for the Wildcats. Rodriguez's successor, Kevin Sumlin, converted Joiner to wide receiver. Joiner had a breakout season in 2019, leading the Wildcats with 552 receiving yards and five touchdowns. In the second half of Joiner's career at the UA, he endured multiple surgeries for a Jones fracture in the same foot. - Arizona Star News

The Arizona Wildcats wide receiver and former Cienega High School star announced on Friday that he will enter the NCAA transfer portal.   Tyler Huff threw for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Furman to a 31-6 victory over Elon on Saturday in the first round of the FCS Championship. Furman led 14-3 at halftime on the strength of a 30-yard TD pass from Huff to Ryan Miller and a 10-yard touchdown run by Devin Abrams. The Paladins wrapped it up with a 75-yard drive that took more than nine minutes off the clock in the fourth quarter, capped by Huff scoring on a 9-yard run. Grant Robinson later added a 25-yard touchdown run.

Huff completed 16 of 26 passes for 140 yards and Dominic Roberto had 98 yards rushing for Furman (10-2). Huff added 93 yards rushing and the Paladins had 251 yards on the ground. The Phoenix (8-4) gained 315 yards but were 5-for-17 on third down, 1-for-5 on fourth and reached the red zone once. Elon's Skyler Davis kicked 51- and 52-yard field goals, making him 7 of 8 on 50-plus-yard attempts this season. He tied the FCS single-season record for 50-plus-yard FGs. Webb threw a 25-yard TD pass to Anwar Lewis in the second quarter and ran for a 2-yard score late in the game. Jacksonville State recorded a safety on a blocked punt.   Tyler Huff completed 21 of 22-pass attempts, threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns and Furman beat Wofford 63-28 on Saturday to end the regular season. The Paladins (9-2, 7-1 Southern Conference) missed out on a chance to earn a share of the conference title when Samford (10-1, 8-0) beat Mercer 50-44 in double overtime. Furman closed the regular season with a six-game win streak and will now await an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs when the playoff field is announced Sunday.
