Less than a week after entering the transfer portal, former Ohio State football cornerback JK Johnson has a new destination. Somewhat predictably, the former top-50 prospect is headed south. Johnson announced Sunday he will play at LSU. In doing so he joins Sevyn Banks as former Buckeye cornerbacks to head to the bayou in the past two years. Johnson started five games last season as top cornerbacks Denzel Burke and Cam Brown both dealt with injuries. He recorded 20 tackles and played in all 12 regular-season games but did not play a defensive snap in the Peach Bowl playoff semifinal against Georgia. - Cleveland Plain Dealer

  01/08/23 - Joe MoorerSr/2026, Florida Atlantic, 6-2, 255 (DS#999 DE) + More +

Arizona State defensive lineman Joe Moore III - who announced a transfer to UW on Dec. 19, and whose signing was confirmed by the program two days later - is no longer coming to Washington, an athletic department spokesperson confirmed Wednesday. The reason behind Moore's reversal remains unclear. A 6-foot-2, 245-pound junior, Moore recorded 24 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery in 12 games with the Sun Devils this season. He added 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in 2021.

Moore also earned portal offers from Missouri and Houston, according to 247Sports. The St. Louis product was originally ranked as a three-star recruit in the 2020 class. But the former Sun Devil - who was listed as a defensive lineman, but projected more as an edge rusher - would not have filled a need at Washington. UW edge starters Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui both announced returns in 2023, and senior Sekai Asoau-Afoa, junior Sav'ell Smalls, sophomore Maurice Heims and redshirt freshman Lance Holtzclaw are also slated to be back. The Huskies added sophomore Sioux Falls transfer Zach Durfee and true freshmen Jacob Lane and Anthony James last month as well. - Seattle Times

JK Johnson started five games for Ohio State football this past season, but his next game will come in a different uniform. Johnson entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal on Tuesday. Cleveland.com confirmed the development, first reported by 247 Sports. Johnson, a redshirt freshman, started five games in a six-game stretch. The St. Louis native came off the bench to play 33 snaps against Michigan in the regular-season finale. However, he played no defensive snaps last Saturday in the playoff semifinal against Georgia.

Johnson was credited with 20 tackles, but no other pass defense statistics. Injury sidelined him for most of his true freshman season. However, he was one of the few members of the cornerback room to avoid injury issues in preseason camp and into the season, which opened up his larger role. - Cleveland Plain Dealer

Nkosi Perry passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more scores to help Florida Atlantic beat rival Florida International 52-7 Saturday night for the Owls' sixth consecutive win in the series known as the Shula Bowl. Perry completed 14 of 22 passes for 122 yards and Larry McCammon had 104 yards rushing on 26 carries for FAU (5-5, 4-2 Conference USA). Johnny Ford, LaJohntay Wester and Willie Taggart Jr. each added a rushing touchdown for the Owls.

Perry added a 5-yard TD pass to Je'Quan Burton with 8:46 left in the first quarter and his 3-yard scoring run capped a 13-play, 83-yard drive that made it 21-0 going into the second.   N'Kosi Perry's 18-yard fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Jahmal Edrine gave Florida Atlantic its first lead and two late interceptions preserved it for a 17-14 win over Rice on Saturday night. Trailing 14-10, FAU (3-4, 2-1 Conference USA) looked to have taken the lead at the end of third quarter but LaJohntay Wester had a reception knocked loose at the goal line and out of the end zone on Kirk Lockhart's hard hit for a touchback. But Perry and Edrine connected on FAU's next possession and picks in the end zone by Dwight Toombs and Armani Adams ensured the victory.

Rice (3-3, 1-1) grabbed a 14-0 first-quarter lead with TJ McMahon's 78-yard connection with Bradley Rozner and Ari Broussard's 3-yard run to cap a nine-play, 89-yard drive. FAU closed to 14-7 at halftime on Larry McCammon's 5-yard score that finished a 10-play, 78-yard drive. Morgan Suarez cut the gap further with a 34-yard field goal in the third quarter. Perry threw for 126 yards and McCammon rushed for 99. McMahon threw for 197 yards but finished with three interceptions. Rozner had 135 yards receiving. - Florida Atlantic/AP College Football
