C.J. Marable could not have hand-picked a better opponent to reach a milestone against. Marable, who was shunned by Arkansas State in his recruiting process out of high school after committing to the Red Wolves, eclipsed 3,000 rushing yards in his colleg iate career Saturday. Marable gained 63 yards rushing with a touchdown on 15 carries and added four receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown. He now has 3,032 rushing yards in one season at Presbyterian in the FCS and three at the FBS level at CCU. He's j ust 6 rushing yards shy of 2,000 at Coastal. "I feel blessed to be able to get the win and get the record against Arkansas State, obviously with what happened with me and Arkansas State, so it's a blessing to be able to do that," Marable said. - Myrtle B each Online

There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the return of athletics at Coastal Carolina University, including how teams will handle coronavirus testing and in what manner games will be played. But two things are clear. There will be athletic departme nt spending cuts in multiple forms, and the Chanticleers will try to play their 2020 football schedule in full. CCU athletics and on-campus classes have been suspended since early March because of COVID-19, and the university has suffered financially bec ause of the pandemic, which will be reflected in athletics. The Chants are scheduled to begin their football season on Sept. 5 at South Carolina. "In our situation, our plan is to play our 12 games," CCU director of athletics Matt Hogue said Tuesday. "So far I think the plan for the Sun Belt [Conference] is everyone seems to be uniform in the goal to move forward with the season as scheduled, and right now it remains on schedule, as do the other fall sports we compete in." Hogue said no scheduled footba ll opponents have contacted him requesting a change. "This is an every day evolving situation as everyone knows so certainly you could have a significant change that affects all of that," he said. - Myrtle Beach Online
