  11/22/25 - Raleek BrownrJr/2027, Arizona State, 5-08, 195 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Raleek Brown rushed for 255 yards, the third-most in Arizona State history, and had a pair of touchdowns to help the turnover-prone Sun Devils stay in Big 12 title contention with a 42-17 win over Colorado on Saturday night. The Sun Devils (8-3, 6-2) still need help - Texas Tech and BYU both have one league loss - but go into the final week with a mathematical chance to play in the conference's championship game. Arizona State weathered three fumbles and an interception thanks to its stout defense. The Buffaloes mustered only three points off the miscues.

The Sun Devils finished with 580 total yards, including 355 yards rushing. They outscored Colorado 29-10 in the second half. Brown averaged 11.6 yards per carry. The only blemish on his big night was a fumble at the end of the third quarter when he jumped over a defender. But on his next carry - after the Sun Devils forced a fumble - Brown broke free for an 88-yard score that gave Arizona State a comfortable 28-17 lead with 13:31 remaining. It was a pivotal play in the game - the Buffaloes were driving before the fumble by Ronald Coleman on his first carry - and redemption for Brown. The program mark for most yards rushing in a game is held by Eno Benjamin, who had 312 yards against Oregon State in 2018. Cam Skattebo rushed for 262 against Mississippi State last season. Jeff Sims threw for 206 yards and two TDs, including a slant route that Derek Eusebio turned into a 68-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Colorado (3-8, 1-7) closed out its home schedule with a 3-4 mark in coach Deion Sanders' third season. Freshman QB Julian "Ju Ju" Lewis finished 19 of 38 for 161 yards and a touchdown pass in his second career start (fourth game). He was sacked four times. Lewis can still redshirt if he doesn't play next week. - Arizona State/AP College Football

WEEK 10 BIG 12 CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jeff Sims, QB, Arizona State,...Sims became the first Big 12 quarterback to throw for at least 175 yards and eclipse 200 yards on the ground in a game since Texas' Vince Young in the 2006 Rose Bowl. He guided a short-handed Sun Devil offense to a 24-19 victory at Iowa State, amassing 405 total yards and three touchdowns. His 88-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was the second-longest rush by an ASU quarterback in program history behind Mark Malone's 97-yard rush against Utah State in 1979. It was also the longest run by any Sun Devil player since 2020. - Big 12 Football

WEEK 10 ASSOCIATED PRESS NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jeff Sims, Arizona State,...The sixth-year quarterback, starting in place of the injured Sam Leavitt against Iowa State, became the first Big 12 player to have 200 yards rushing and 175 passing since Texas' Vince Young in the 2005 season's national championship game against Southern California. Sims' 228 yards rushing in the 24-19 road win set an ASU quarterback record, and his 88-yard touchdown run was longest by a Sun Devils player since 2020. Sims' previous career high for rushing yards was 128 for Nebraska against Minnesota in 2023. Sims completed 13 of 24 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown on a chilly, wet day in Ames. - AP College Football

  11/15/25 - Jeff SimsrSr/2026, Arizona State, 6-3, 220 (DS#42 RB) + More +

Jeff Sims accounted for 288 yards and three touchdowns, Jesus Gomez kicked a 49-yard field goal in the fourth quarter and Arizona State kept its Big 12 title hopes alive with a 25-23 win over West Virginia on Saturday. The Sun Devils (7-3, 5-2 Big 12) returned from their bye week still in the hunt for a second straight Big 12 championship, entering Saturday's game a game behind No. 8 Texas Tech with six teams in the mix to play in the Dec. 6 title game. Arizona State gave up two fourth-quarter touchdowns to blow a 12-point lead, but kept its title hopes alive with Gomez's field goal and Keith Abney II's interception with 1:30 left. Sims threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-28 passing, adding 81 yards on 17 carries rushing.

The Mountaineers (4-7, 2-6) turned it over on downs on two trips inside Arizona State's 6-yard line, but rallied with two big passing plays on breakdowns by the Sun Devils. Jeff Weimer scored on a 75-yard touchdown in the second quarter on a seam pass from Scotty Fox Jr. when Arizona State left the middle of the field open. Cyncir Bowers turned a swing pass on a third-and-27 into a 90-yard touchdown by weaving his way through half of Arizona State's defense to put the Mountaineers up 23-22 in the fourth quarter. Fox threw for 353 yards and two touchdowns, but also had the late interception. Sims took over Arizona State's offense after Sam Leavitt had season-ending foot surgery two weeks ago and set a school quarterback record with 228 yards rushing in a 24-19 win over Iowa State. Sims opened with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Chamon Metayer and followed with a 19-yard TD pass to Derek Eusebio, who got a key block from Metayer. Sims threw his third touchdown pass late in the half, whipping a ball to running back Raleek Brown in the face of an all-out blitz for a 33-yard touchdown that gave the Sun Devils a 22-10 halftime lead. - AP College Football

  10/31/25 - Sam LeavittrSo/2028, Arizona State, 6-2, 205 (DS#4 QB) + More +

Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt will miss the rest of the year because of a lingering right foot injury. Sun Devils coach Kenny Dillingham told Arizona Sports on Friday that Leavitt will have season-ending surgery. "He's been battling and fighting. He's the ultimate competitor," Dillingham said. "This is like the worst, obviously, news that he wanted to hear because it means he can't play football. He loves the game of football. He loves this place. So, it's definitely unfortunate for him." Leavitt was initially injured against Baylor on Sept. 20 and didn't play in a loss to No. 24 Utah two weeks later. He returned to lead Arizona State's comeback victory against No. 7 Texas Tech on Oct. 18 before getting hurt again. Leavitt twice left last week's 24-16 loss to No. 22 Houston, first after taking a hard hit in the first quarter and again when he limped off the field in the fourth quarter. Leavitt was wearing a walking boot at practice Tuesday. "I just feel bad for him that he has been dinged up all year and he's been battling for our football team," Dillingham said. "It's unfortunate that it just hasn't gotten any better." Leavitt was the perfect fit for Dillingham's second season in the desert after transferring from Michigan State.

The 6-foot-2 quarterback from West Linn, Oregon, threw for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns with six interceptions last season while leading the Sun Devils to the Big 12 title and their first trip to the College Football Playoff. With Leavitt and standout receiver Jordyn Tyson returning, Arizona State opened at No. 11 in the AP Top 25 and has bounced in and out of the poll all season. The Sun Devils (5-3, 3-2 Big 12) were still in the mix to repeat as Big 12 champions, but their bid took a big hit with the loss to Houston. Leavitt has thrown for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns with three interceptions this season. Tyson did not play against Houston with a hamstring injury, but could return against Iowa State (5-3, 2-3) in Saturday's rematch of last year's Big 12 title game. - AP College Football

  10/28/25 - Sam LeavittrSo/2028, Arizona State, 6-2, 205 (DS#4 QB) + More +

Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt will not play against Iowa State after twice leaving last week's loss to No. 22 Houston. Leavitt went out after taking a hard hit in the first quarter of the Sun Devils' 24-16 loss to the Cougars last Saturday. He returned to the game but went off limping in the fourth quarter. Leavitt was in a walking boot at Arizona State's practice Tuesday. "It's definitely something that's been lingering all year," Sun Devils coach Kenny Dillingham said. "It's definitely something that could definitely turn into that (long-term) for sure, just because it hasn't progressed like we hoped. He's been dealing with this for pretty much the whole year. He hasn't been at full speed, so we'll definitely reassess it during the bye and make a decision from there." Leavitt first injured his foot against Baylor on Sept. 20 and didn't play in a loss to No. 24 Utah two weeks later. He returned to lead Arizona State's comeback win over No. 13 Texas Tech on Oct. 18 before going down again. Leavitt has thrown for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns with three interceptions this season after leading the Sun Devils to the College Football Playoff for the first time last year. - AP College Football

Raleek Brown bulled in for a 1-yard touchdown with 34 seconds left and Arizona State rallied after blowing a 12-point, fourth-quarter lead to hand No. 7 Texas Tech its first loss of the season, 26-22 on Saturday. The Red Raiders (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) labored most of the afternoon without starting quarterback Behren Morton (knee), finishing with 276 total yards after averaging an FBS-best 558.8 through the first six games. Will Hammond showed his mettle after failing to move Texas Tech's offense through three quarters, orchestrating two late scoring drives. The freshman scored on a 1-yard run and, after Texas Tech's defense held, found Reggie Virgil on a 12-yard touchdown pass. Hammond put the Red Raiders up 22-19 by running it in for the 2-point conversion - after a holding call on Arizona State on the first attempt - but left too much time on the clock. The reigning Big 12 champion Sun Devils (5-2, 3-1) started the final drive from their 25 with two minutes left and quickly moved down the field.

Sam Leavitt completed 5 of 7 passes for 61 yards on the drive and benefited from a pass interference call on Texas Tech's Brice Pollack to set up Brown's TD run. The Red Raiders reached Arizona State's 28 on its final drive, but Hammond's desperation heave into the end zone was swatted down. Texas Tech followed No. 2 Miami, No. 5 Mississippi and No. 10 LSU to become the fourth top-10 team to lose this weekend. Texas Tech was without defensive tackle Skyler Gill-Howard, who had season-ending ankle surgery this week, and the Sun Devils took advantage by racking up 394 total yards against one of the nation's best defenses. Arizona State had a hard time finishing drives, settling for four field goals by Jesus Gomez, but came through at just the right time. Leavitt threw for 319 yards and hit Jordyn Tyson on a 2-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter after missing last week's game against Utah with a foot injury. - Arizona State/AP College Football
