  OCT 14 BIG SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: In his second career start, Gardner-Webb quarterback Kalen Whitlow (Montgomery, Ala.) passed for 352 yards and three touchdowns on 12-of-22 passing in Gardner-Webb's 35-27 Big South-opening win over Hampton. He had TD throws of 45, 70 and three yards, each giving the Runnin' Bulldogs the lead with the last accounting for the go-ahead score. Whitlow had a 29.3 yards per completion average, nine completions were for first downs and five went for 45 yards or longer. Also nominated for Offensive Player of the Week: Garris Schwarting (Charleston Southern), Bronson Rechsteiner (Kennesaw State) and Kenji Bahar (Monmouth). - Big South Football
