Alabama's replenished receiver room took a hit via injury this week. Sophomore JoJo Earle will be out six to eight weeks with a broken foot, Nick Saban said after practice Thursday. Saban said the Aledo, Texas product had been showing considerable progress in practice before he went down with the injury earlier this week. Earle flashed his potential as a true freshman both on special teams and as a receiver. He was named to the SEC's All-Freshman team as a return specialist who totaled 88 punt return yards on 15 attempts.

His shifty speed led Saban to make a rare player comparison when he said Earle's game was similar to Jaylen Waddle's. A leg injury suffered late in the year against New Mexico State limited his action the rest of the season. He came back for the Cotton Bowl semifinal but misplayed a punt and was replaced by Slade Bolden the rest of the way. Alabama is already replacing 74% of its receiving yards age from last year's team with the loss of Jameson Williams, John Metchie and Bolden. - Birmingham News
