Six games into the rebooted United States Football League, Shea Patterson has already switched teams. The former Michigan quarterback and No. 1 pick in the league's 2022 draft was waived by the Michigan Panthers late Wednesday, a byproduct of the team's underwhelming start. Patterson was signed just an hour later by the USFL's New Orleans Breakers, who are set to play the Panthers Saturday night in Birmingham, Ala. (9 p.m., FS1).

In a post foreshadowing the move, Patterson took to social media platform Twitter on Tuesday morning to write: "The hustle will be worth it in the end, I promise." Through six games, Patterson ranked third among USFL quarterbacks in passing yards (973) but came in dead-last among league starters in QBR (112.4), a ranking used to measure efficiency. He's thrown five interceptions, several of them costly, and been sacked 13 times. Patterson has flashed his speed at times also, rushing for 171 yards and two touchdowns. But he's gotten off to slow starts that have hampered the Michigan offense. - Ann Arbor News
