Alabama football has earned yet another accolade from the 2020 undefeated championship season. Junior receiver John Metchie III has received the Jon Cornish Trophy, given to the top Canadian in NCAA football after he became the first Canadian of an NCAA national champion in 17 years. Metchie, from Brampton, Ontario, got 94 votes. He edged out Oklahoma State's Amen Ogbongbemiga who received 91 votes. The next closest, Tennessee's Joshua Palmer, picked up 66 votes. Metchie caught six touchdown passes in 2020 with 55 total catches for 916 yards. He is expected to be among Alabama's leaders at receivers this season with the departures of DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle, both of whom went in the first round of the NFL Draft. - Montgomery Advertiser
