  Draft Scout by Conference

Nick Andersen, a walk-on freshman defensive back at Wake Forest who starred in Saturday's 23-16 win over Virginia Tech, was named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week Award winner. This is the second time a Wake Forest player has earned this weekly honor, and the first time since Jon Abbate in 2005. Andersen, who made his second consecutive start at safety, is the first Wake Forest player with three interceptions in a game since A.J. Greene in 1987. He was also in on 11 tackles. Earlier this week Andersen was named the ACC's rookie of the week, the College Sports Madness national defensive player of the week and the Walter Camp national defensive player of the week. Andersen will also be on scholarship starting this spring after Coach Dave Clawson made that announcement to the team soon after Saturday's victory. - Winston Salem Journal
