Texas Tech's Alan Bowman is one of 30 quarterbacks on the initial watch list for the Davey O'Brien Award released Tuesday. The award is presented annually to the best quarterback in college football. Bowman, a sophomore this coming season, has played in 11 games his first two years, completing 68.1% of his passes for 3,658 yards and 23 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He missed time in his freshman season with two instances of a partially collapsed lung and missed most of his sophomore year with a cracked collarbone. Last year counted as a redshirt season for Bowman, who played in three games. - Lubbock Avalanche Journal
