Pitt returns all three of its leading rushers from last season in Israel Abanikanda, Vincent Davis and Rodney Hammond Jr. - each rushed for at least 500 yards in 2021 and combined to score 20 touchdowns - as well as short-yardage thumper Daniel Carter, who is battling for an increased role this season. Such a crowded backfield might deter most running backs from joining the team, but Notre Dame grad transfer C'Bo Flemister said it only enticed him even more.

"As far as the backs, I watched their film and I saw how good they were, and I'll be honest, that made me happier," said Flemister, who spoke to the media on Monday for the first time since joining the Panthers just before the start of camp. "I feel like I'm a good back, and I need to be around good backs. That's going to push me to be even better, so that was big." Flemister played in 25 games as a reserve back for the Fighting Irish, rushing for 471 yards and 10 touchdowns on 110 carries. He had his best season in 2020, when he helped Notre Dame finish 10-2 and reach the College Football Playoff with 299 yards and five TDs on 58 carries (6.4 yards per carry). - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

  06/20/22 - RB CBo FlemisterrSr/2024, Pittsburgh, 5-11, 205 (DS#83 RB) + More +

Over a four-hour span on Saturday morning into the afternoon, Pat Narduzzi fired off five tweets, each indicating a new verbal commitment in Pitt's 2023 recruiting class. And on Sunday, Pitt added another player to the fold: Notre Dame transfer running back C'Bo Flemister. Flemister will provide more immediate contributions as a summer signee. The Notre Dame running back will have two years of eligibility available with the Panthers.

Flemister tallied 10 touchdowns and 471 yards on 110 carries during his career with the Fighting Irish. The addition of Flemister brings another experienced ball-carrier to Pitt's running back room. Israel Abanikanda (651 yards), Vincent Davis (593) and Rodney Hammond (504) - the Panthers' three leading rushers from last season - will be back this fall. Pitt also has Daniel Carter, who was named the most improved offensive player of spring camp. - Pittsburgh Post Gazette

University of Notre Dame running back C'Bo Flemister could have a misdemeanor charge against him dismissed after entering into an agreement with prosecutors. Flemister is charged with leaving the scene of an accident when police found his BMW crashed on South Bend Avenue in April. The 21-year-old agreed to enter a pretrial diversion program last month, meaning prosecutors will not continue proceedings against Flemister and will dismiss the charge one year from now, provided he meet certain conditions.

As a condition of the program, Flemister must complete a substance abuse evaluation, attend a victim impact panel, pay $334 in court fees and perform 25 hours of community service. If he completes those items and isn't charged with any additional crimes for a year, prosecutors will dismiss the charge. The charge against Flemister stems from an April 25 crash where police found a BMW on South Bend Avenue near Corby Boulevard around 3 a.m. with no one inside and the keys missing. - Indianapolis Star/News

  07/01/21 - RB CBo FlemisterrSr/2024, Pittsburgh, 5-11, 205 (DS#83 RB) + More +

The next court date for Notre Dame senior running back C'Bo Flemister is Aug. 4 in connection with charges of leaving the scene of an accident after an April 25 wreck involving only his vehicle. The misdemeanor charge against the 21-year-old was filed in early May. According to court documents, Flemister crashed his 2014 BMW around 3 a.m., April 25 on South Bend Avenue near Corby Boulevard.

The university's disciplinary arm conducts its own hearings into cases such as these, and Kelly said Flemister won't be facing any severe disciplinary action that will affect his standing with the football team. "This is one of those situations that could have been avoided," Kelly said. "He had a vehicle that was illegally parked and moved a barrier to put his car in a position so he didn't have to walk so far. "This is not being very smart. So he's going to be accountable for what that situation is." Flemister, who was not arrested, is a key reserve for the Irish. He rushed for 299 yards on 62 carries in 2020. - Indianapolis Star/News

University of Notre Dame running back C'Bo Flemister has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after an April 25 wreck. The misdemeanor charge against the 20-year-old was filed Thursday. According to court documents, Flemister crashed his 2014 BMW around 3 a.m. April 25 on South Bend Avenue near Corby Boulevard. When police arrived to the scene they found the crashed vehicle with no one inside and the keys missing. The car was registered to Flemister and police were able to locate him at a friend's house, according to court documents. Police say Flemister first told them his car was taken from Eddy Street Commons, but in a later interview admitted to crashing that night and leaving before police arrived. Flemister, from Williamson, Ga., played in nine games last season as a junior and rushed for 299 yards and five touchdowns on 58 carries. - South Bend Tribune
