  01/13/23 - RB Kavosiey SmokerSr/2024, Colorado, 5-10, 202 (DS#85 RB) + More +

Colorado has added some experience to its backfield. On Wednesday, former Kentucky running back Kavosiey Smoke announced that he will transfer to CU to play his sixth and final season of college football. The 5-foot-9, 209-pound Smoke rushed for 1,583 yards and 12 touchdowns during his time at Kentucky, ranking 21st in program history in rushing yards.

With the graduation of Alex Fontenot, Smoke becomes the most experienced running back on the Buffs' roster. A three-star recruit coming out of Wetumpka (Ala.) High School in 2018, Smoke played in 46 games with five starts at Kentucky. He started the first four games this past season, finishing the year with 277 yards and a touchdown on 59 carries. Smoke's had the seventh-best yards-per-carry average (5.42) in Kentucky history. His best season came in 2019, when he rushed for 616 yards and six touchdowns. - Daily Camera

  10/07/20 - RB Kavosiey SmokerSr/2024, Colorado, 5-10, 202 (DS#85 RB) + More +

University of Kentucky running back Kavosiey Smoke will likely miss at least a couple weeks with a rib injury. Smoke rushed for 29 yards on five carries against Ole Miss on Saturday. He suffered the injury as a result of a horse-collar tackle during the 42-41 loss, Stoops said. Smoke usually is listed alongside Chris Rodriguez with an "OR" designation as the backup to senior A.J. Rose. He was absent from this week's depth chart. "He broke a rib, or cartilage in his ribs, or whatever," Stoops said. "It's a pretty painful injury. It just depends how long he'll be out. We'll see how the pain goes." Rodriguez was the only backup listed behind Rose this week, but redshirt freshman Travis Tisdale or true freshman JuTahn McClain could get carries against the Bulldogs on Saturday. McClain has appeared on special teams in both games; Tisdale, who scored his first career touchdown against last season, returned a kickoff for 13 yards against Ole Miss. - Herald Leader

  10/05/20 - RB Kavosiey SmokerSr/2024, Colorado, 5-10, 202 (DS#85 RB) + More +

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops says reserve running back Kavosiey Smoke is out "a couple of weeks" after breaking a rib during Saturday's overtime home loss to Mississippi. Smoke was not listed on the Wildcats' depth chart for Saturday's Southeastern Conference home game against Mississippi State (1-1, 1-1). Stoops revealed the sophomore was injured on a horse-collar tackle during his weekly news conference and added, "We'll see how the pain goes" in determining the length of his absence. Smoke rushed five times for 29 yards before halftime, including a 19-yard run to the Rebels' 6 to set up the Wildcats' first touchdown, but did not return in the 42-41 loss. Known for his explosives, Smoke is Kentucky's No. 4 rusher with 91 yards and a TD at Auburn on 12 carries for the Wildcats (0-2, 0-2 SEC). - AP College Football

  09/03/20 - RB Kavosiey SmokerSr/2024, Colorado, 5-10, 202 (DS#85 RB) + More +

He proved that he was more than just a spectacular name last season, rushing for 616 yards and six touchdowns on 101 carries. He figures again to be listed the immediate backup to A.J. Rose along with fellow sophomore Chris Rodriguez, with whom he split time last year, but Smoke has the speed to be a bigger factor if situations call for it. He rushed for at least 50 yards in six different games last year, including a career-best 95 yards on 15 carries in a romp at Vanderbilt that saw him finish with a career-high 123 all-purpose yards. - Herald Leader
