  06/17/21 - CB Allie Green IVrSr/2022, Missouri, 6-3, 203 (DS#62 CB) + More +

The Missouri football team continues to remake its secondary with pieces from the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. On Wednesday, the Tigers secured a verbal commitment from former Tulsa cornerback Allie Green IV, a veteran starter and the second Tulsa cornerback to commit to the Tigers in the last week. Green and Akayleb Evans will soon reunite with their Tulsa position coach, Aaron Fletcher, who joined Eli Drinkwitz's staff to coach the Tigers' secondary in February. Green (6-foot-3, 206 pound) started 25 games for Tulsa at cornerback from 2018-20 with one interception and 11 career breakups. The Austin, Texas, native has one remaining year of eligibility. With Green and Evans at cornerback last year, Tulsa ranked 18th nationally in passing yards allowed per game (189.6) and 19th in opponent passer rating (119.4). - Post-Dispatch

Two of the central figures within the University of Tulsa's veteran defense are seemingly headed elsewhere. Starting cornerbacks Akayleb Evans and Allie Green IV are in the transfer portal, a source close to the program confirmed. The pair, expected to have NFL potential, played as true freshmen in 2017 and has started a combined 48 games. Since Evans recently entered the portal, he has received numerous offers including from Notre Dame and Texas. Because of a medical hardship waiver stemming from the 2019 season, he has two years of eligibility remaining, including the additional year extended by the NCAA as a result of COVID-19. Green, who has one year left, entered the portal this week and reported an offer from Louisiana Tech on Tuesday. He had 24 tackles in 2020, as did Evans. - Tulsa World

On the heels of a turnaround season, the University of Tulsa football program has set its four-week spring practice period. The Hurricane will open spring practice March 14 and continue through April 13. A decision as to whether to play the annual spring game has not been made. Tulsa is coming off of a 2020 season in which the Hurricane played in the American Athletic Conference Championship game, the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl and finished the season with a 6-3 record. The Golden Hurricane returns nine starters on offense, 10 on defense and all of its specialists. Three other players who would have been starters but missed the 2020 season are expected back. Tulsa enters spring practice with 57 returnees, including 32 who have started at least one game. - Tulsa World
