  03/11/21 - WR Ty FryfoglerSr/2022, Indiana, 6-1, 209 (DS#51 WR) + More +

After a breakout 2020 season, many expected Indiana senior wide receiver Ty Fryfogle to declare for the NFL draft. But with IU capping a historic season with a disappointing bowl loss, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Fryfogle was left with a feeling of unfinished business. "We still left stuff on the table, and there's a lot more that we can accomplish," Fryfogle said. As a result, Fryfolge finished his first day of spring practice with the Hoosiers on Tuesday eager for what lies ahead in the 2021 season. With Fryfogle among a handful of All-Big Ten players returning, IU will be considered one of the contenders to unseat Ohio State as league champion next season.

"We just started spring ball...15 opportunities to get better and just build off what we did last season," Fryfogle said. "I feel like we can accomplish anything we want to this season." Fryfogle proved what he could accomplish during a 2020 season in which he earned Big Ten wide receiver of the year honors with 37 catches for 721 yards and seven TDs. He became the first receiver in conference history to post back-to-back 200-yard receiving games, including a seven-catch, 218-yard, three-TD outing against Ohio State that put him on the national radar. - Herald Bulletin

  01/11/21 - WR Ty FryfoglerSr/2022, Indiana, 6-1, 209 (DS#51 WR) + More +

Two Indiana starting receivers made different decisions about their future this weekend. Senior receiver Ty Fryfogle, taking advantage of the NCAA's rule giving players an additional year of eligibility due to the pandemic, announced Friday night he's coming back to the Hoosiers in 2021. Senior receiver Whop Philyor, meanwhile, announced Saturday afternoon he's declaring for the NFL draft. The 6-foot-4, 214-pound Fryfogle earned Big Ten receiver of the year honors in 2020, finishing the year with 37 catches for 721 yards and seven TDs.

He became the first Big Ten receiver to post back-to-back 200 yard games in history -- accomplishing the feat against Michigan State and Ohio State. His production tailed off when Jack Tuttle replaced injured starter Michael Penix as quarterback late in the season, but with Penix expected to recover from a torn ACL for the start of the 2021 season, Fryfogle could be poised for another big season. - Herald Bulletin

Michael Penix Jr. threw for 320 yards and hit Ty Fryfogle for two touchdown passes as No. 10 Indiana remained unbeaten with an easy 24-0 victory over Michigan State on Saturday. The Hoosiers (4-0, 4-0) set up a showdown next weekend against Ohio State, the only other unbeaten team in the Big Ten East. Penix threw two interceptions in the first half, but that didn't matter much. The Spartans (1-3, 1-3) were just as sloppy - to the point where quarterback Rocky Lombardi was pulled in the second quarter. Fryfogle had 11 catches for 200 yards - both career highs. He did most of that in the first two quarters, when all the game's scoring occurred. Indiana has won its first four Big Ten games for the first time since 1987, and the Hoosiers beat Michigan State for the Old Brass Spittoon for only the second time in the last 12 meetings. Since beating rival Michigan on Oct. 31, the Spartans have lost their last two games by a combined 73-7. - AP College Football
