Florida offensive line coach John Hevesy is working with his unit and liking what he is seeing. Florida must spend this spring replacing starters at the two most important offensive line positions: center and left tackle. But a pair of departing seniors sounds a lot better than losing four of five starting linemen. That would have happened to the Gators if not for the extra year of eligibility granted to all fall sports athletes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That allowed seniors Stewart Reese and Jean Delance to come back for one more season, which UF coach Dan Mullen called "huge" for the O-line. "It's valuable to have those two back for me," position coach and running game coordinator John Hevesy said. "For (Reese) obviously to get his master's degree and also obviously just get back in shape after the layover he had from leaving Mississippi State to come here and then with COVID. … It's really beneficial for him this offseason to get himself in great shape to play. - Gainesville Sun

Stewart Reese, the graduate transfer from Mississippi State, had a successful debut Saturday, starting at offensive guard. "Great," Mullen said of Reese's performance. "I think having missed the offseason hurt Stew a little bit. I expect him to continue to get better. I saw a couple ups and downs. One thing I think he knows having played for us before is that I have pretty high standards and expectations. That's not going to shock him. So, overall, he graded a champion and I thought he played pretty well." - Gainesville Sun

Less than 48 hours after entering the transfer portal, Stewart Reese has found a new home. The former Mississippi State offensive lineman will transfer to Florida, the Gainesville Sun has learned. Jason Higdon was first to report Reese's decision. The older brother of Gators redshirt sophomore linebacker David Reese, the senior guard entered the transfer portal Thursday, becoming the fourth Bulldogs player to hit the transfer portal since Mike Leach's hiring. A native of Fort Pierce (Fl.), Reese was initially recruited to Mississippi State by Dan Mullen and John Hevesy when the pair were in Starkville. With the coronavirus pandemic limiting the opportunities for prospects to visit campuses, Reese's in-state location, coupled with a familiarity with the Florida program and coaching staff, led to a swift and timely decision. Reese, a graduate transfer expected to be immediately eligible, has a strong chance to compete for a spot in Florida's starting rotation after playing 37 games in four seasons at MSU. - Gainesville Sun
