Former Boise State left tackle Ezra Cleveland is heading to Minnesota. The Vikings picked Cleveland on Friday with the 26th pick in the second round of the NFL Draft - No. 58 overall. The Broncos have now had at least one player drafted 11 years in a row. Cornerback Kyle Wilson began the streak in 2010 when the Jets took him No. 29 overall. When Cleveland was shown on ESPN learning of his selection, there was a large Boise State flag draped across the wall behind him. The highest-drafted Boise State offensive lineman was Ryan Clady, who went No. 12 overall in 2008 to the Broncos. Cleveland is the third-highest, behind Clady and Daryn Colledge - two longtime NFL starters.

Clady started 106 NFL games from 2008 to 2016, and Collledge started 137 games from 2006 to 2014. Cleveland started 40 games for Boise State the past three seasons. A foot injury limited him early last season, but he managed to start 13 games at left tackle and earn first-team All-Mountain West honors for the second year in a row. "He's a tough guy and athletic," Vikings Director of College Scouting Jamaal Stephenson said, according to the Post Bulletin in Minnesota. "He's mature. He's a grinder. He loves football and we think he's a guy who's going to come in and help us right away." - Idaho Statesman

Cleveland started 40 games for the Broncos the past three seasons. A foot injury limited him in practice early last fall, but he managed to start 13 games at left tackle and earn first-team All-Mountain West honors for the second year in a row. After declaring for the draft in December, the 6-foot-6, 310-pound Spanaway, Washington, native impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 40-yard dash time of 4.93 seconds and 30 reps on the bench press. From the coach: "He's a very good athlete, and he showed that at the combine. He has a desire to be great and to be successful in the National Football League. That's what you need when you get there." - The Boston Globe

Historically, players invited to the draft are believed to have first-round potential. Because of limitations on large gatherings, the draft won't take place in Las Vegas as scheduled, though, and players and team personnel will be in separate locations. The NFL announced Monday that the draft would proceed with a fully virtual format. Team personnel have been advised to be in separate locations, using phone and the internet to communicate. Cleveland announced Dec. 24 that he would skip his senior year and enter the draft. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.93 seconds - one of the fastest times among offensive linemen. Cleveland started 40 games the past three seasons at Boise State, and he was a first-team All-Mountain West pick the past two years. - Idaho Statesman

For both Ezra Cleveland and John Molchon, Wednesday's announcement marked the second-straight first-team selection, and third all-conference honor overall (both were named honorable mention in 2017).
