  Corey Fields Jr. threw three touchdown passes to Shaquan Davis, Kendrell Flowers rushed for 172 yards and a score and South Carolina State rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Norfolk State 31-21 on Saturday. Fields connected with Davis from 14 yards out for the go-ahead score 1:36 into the fourth quarter before hitting Davis again for a 20-yard TD and a 24-14 lead with 9:19 remaining. J.J Davis scored on a 5-yard run to get the Spartans within 24-21 with 5:48 left, but Fields answered with an 11-play drive - capped by Flowers' 1-yard TD run - that left just 39 seconds on the clock. Fields completed 21 of 34 passes for 250 yards for the Bulldogs (6-5, 5-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Davis had nine catches for 141 yards. Carter passed for 240 yards and two scores for Norfolk State (6-5, 2-3). He was also the Spartans leading rusher with 45 yards on 12 carries. - AP College Football

  Corey Fields Jr. threw two touchdown passes, Kendrell Flowers ran for 121 yards and a touchdown and South Carolina State held off North Carolina Central 27-24 on Saturday. Michael Brunson intercepted Davius Richard with four seconds left to preserve the win for the Bulldogs (4-4, 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) which have won three straight. Richard's 74-yard touchdown run on the Eagles' (3-5, 1-1) first drive made it 7-0. South Carolina State knotted it a 7-all when Flowers ran it in from 34 yards out. Later, Fields threw a 14-yard pass to Flowers and the Bulldogs led the rest of the way. On the ensuing drive, Richard completed a 20-yard scoring pass to Devin Smith but the extra-point attempt failed.   Gavyn Zimmerman kicked two field goals, Jacory Benson had a short touchdown run and the South Carolina State defense did the rest in a 13-7 victory over Delaware State in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action on Saturday. Zimmerman's 24-yard field goal was the only scoring in the first quarter. He booted a 22-yarder midway through the second quarter for a 6-0 lead. Benson followed with a 3-yard TD run, giving the Bulldogs (3-4, 2-0) a 13-0 halftime lead. The score was set up when Corey Fields Jr. connected with Shaquan Davis for a 50-yard gain to the Hornets' 14-yard line. The only scoring in the second half came when Delaware State's Charles Peeler took a punt and raced 55 yards for a TD with 8:19 left in the third quarter. Fields completed 15 of 30 passes for 208 yards for South Carolina State. Davis finished with four catches for 114 yards. Jared Lewis was 12-of-27 passing for 132 yards with one interception for Delaware State (3-4) in its MEAC opener. Sy'Veon Wilkerson rushed for 96 yards on 25 carries.   Corey Fields Jr. passed for three touchdowns and South Carolina State had two defensive scores in a 37-14 victory over Morgan State on Saturday. Fields' touchdowns were 18 yards to Will Vereen, 54 yards to Shaquan Davis and 31 yards to Richard Bailey. The Bulldogs' Zafir Kelly returned a blocked field goal 90 yards for a touchdown and Jablonski Green returned an interception 7 yards for the game's final score. Fields was 19-of-44 passing for 258 yards as the Bulldogs won their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener and improved to 2-4 overall. For the Bears (0-6, 0-2), Alfonzo Graham had 74 yards rushing and scored on a 40-yard run.   Donte Anthony and Kendrel Flowers both ran for two touchdowns and South Carolina State built a big lead before holding on for a 42-35 win over Bethune-Cookman in a battle of winless teams on Saturday. Flowers scored the opening touchdown but Darnell Deas returned the kickoff 95 yards to tie the game. Then the Bulldogs (1-3) scored the next five touchdowns, taking a 42-7 lead into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats (0-5) scored 28 points in the fourth, including an 88-yard fumble return by Omari Hill-Robinson. Devin Black scored the last touchdown on a 1-yard sneak with 45 seconds to play. South Carolina State piled 577 yards with Corey Fields Jr. passing for 314 yards on 20 of 30 and a touchdown. Anthony rushed for 67 yards and Flowers 65.   2019 MEAC ROOKIE OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Corey Fields, South Carolina State,...Fields, a Hollywood, S.C. native, was a two-time MEAC Rookie of the Week and finished third in the MEAC in passing efficiency with 15 passing touchdowns. He threw for 1,652 yards with a passing efficiency of 138.7. He shattered South Carolina State's school record on Nov. 9 when the Bulldogs defeated Howard 62-21. Fields finished the game 18-for-29 for 333 yards passing and seven touchdown passes, and he earned FCS STATS Freshman of the Week for his performance.   Corey Fields threw for 333 yards and seven touchdowns Saturday as South Carolina State scored on its opening drive and added five more before halftime to defeat Howard 62-21. SC State (6-3, 4-2) rebounded from a two-point loss at North Carolina A&T that likely derailed hopes for a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship, leaving the Spartans in a group of three teams chasing unbeaten Florida A&M. De'Montrez Burroughs was a favorite target of Fields', catching seven passes for 140 yards and five touchdowns. Shaquan Davis added 113 yards on five catches with a pair of scores. Dedrick Parson led Howard (1-9, 1-5) with 130 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Kyle Anthony, who last week became the Bison's all-time leading receiver with 187 catches, had six catches for 73 yards and a TD. Howard placed first-year coach Ron Prince on leave just days before the game as they investigate accusations of threats and verbal abuse toward players. - AP College Football

  Corey Fields threw a pair of long, second-half touchdown passes and South Carolina State built a three-touchdown lead going into the fourth quarter and held on to beat Morgan State, 24-10 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference battle Saturday night. The teams shared time of possession evenly, but the Bulldogs took advantage of five Morgan State turnovers. Nicholas O'Shea gave the Bears the lead with a 39-yard field goal four minutes into the game, but they would not score again until the fourth quarter.

Labron Morris' 3-yard run put SC State (4-2, 2-1) in front and Dillon Bredesen added a 31-yard field goal to make it 10-3 at intermission. Fields hit Will Vereen with a 49-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and found Shaquan Davis from 41-yards out to make it 24-3 with 11:27 to play. Fields was 12-of-23 passing for 135 yards. Morris finished with 25 carries for 125 yards. Morgan State (1-6, 1-3) lost five yards on 32 carries and fumbled three times. Three quarterbacks combined for 267 yards passing but also threw two interceptions for the Bears. - AP College Football
