LaNorris Sellers ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more, including a 75-yard strike to his younger brother Jayden on the game's first snap, in South Carolina's 51-7 rout of Coastal Carolina on Saturday night. The Gamecocks (4-7) were coming in off a disheartening 31-30 loss at No. 3 Texas A&M where they led 30-3 at halftime. But the players didn't let that collapse beat them once more, overwhelming the Chanticleers (6-5) to lead 20-0 less than eight minutes in. Sellers, whose escapability, strong arm and running skill had him atop many preseason Heisman Trophy lists, showed off all of it in ending South Carolina's five-game losing streak. He finished 16 of 20 passing for 274 yards and led the Gamecocks with 82 yards rushing before heading to the bench after the third quarter. Sellers hooked up with his speedy, younger brother Jayden Sellers on the first snap for a short pass then broke for a 75-yard TD. The elder Sellers pushed through for a 2-yard score on the team's second drive. After Coastal Carolina passer Tad Hudson fumbled while getting hit by lineman Bryan Thomas Jr. deep in Chants' territory, tight end Brady Hunt scored three plays later for a 20-0 lead. Coastal, of the Sun Belt Conference, could not match up with an opponent th at entered with a five-game losing streak and 1-7 record in the Southeastern Conference. South Carolina had 419 of its 579 yards by halftime. Its defense held Coastal Carolina to 46 yards rushing, far below its 194 average coming in. The Chanticleers end ed the shutout with a blocked punt by receiver Jameson Tucker, who picked it up and went 17 yards for the score with less than 10 minutes left to play. Jayden Sellers had four catches for 127 yards while Hunt finished with a pair of rushing touchdowns. T he Gamecocks played without leading receiver Nyck Harbor and defensive line starter Dylan Stewart. Harbor went to the hospital as a precaution after hurting his chest late in the Texas A&M loss. Stewart warmed up but felt back pain and was held out. - So uth Carolina/AP College Football

South Carolina has fired offensive coordinator Mike Shula just nine games into his first season in the role. Shula, who served as Alabama coach from 2003 to 2006, gained most of his coaching experience in the NFL as an offensive assistant. He joined coac h Shane Beamer's staff in Columbia as an offensive analyst in March 2024. Shula began this season with the title of offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, replacing offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, who left South Carolina to be the head coach at Appalachian State.Shula inherited a Gamecocks offense that was led by quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who entered the season with some Heisman Trophy buzz. But Sellers has struggled as a sophomore with seven touchdown passes and five interceptions through nine games this season. South Carolina ranks last in the SEC in both points (19.7) and yards per game (294.1). The Gamecocks have lost four straight games to fall to 3-6 (1-6 SEC), putting Beamer squarely on the hot seat. South Carolina is off th is week before resuming play Nov. 15 at No. 3 Texas A&M. - ESPN College Football

The Gamecocks' maligned offense had a respectable night, scoring three touchdowns of their own to match the defense's two, but still struggled to run the ball (48 rushes, 178 yards). Quarterback LaNorris Sellers was better at escaping sacks but still too k too many avoidable hits by not throwing the ball away. - AP College Football

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers left Saturday night's game against Vanderbilt after taking a hit to the head. Sellers took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Vanderbilt's Langston Patterson, who came free on a blitz, after he threw a pass late in th e second quarter with the No. 11 Gamecocks trailing 14-7. Patterson received a roughing the passer penalty and was disqualified from the game for targeting. South Carolina coach Shane Beamer expressed displeasure with the hit during a halftime interview, but offered no update on Sellers' status. "There's not (an update). Right now, we don't know,” Beamer said. Sellers went to the South Carolina bench after the hit and was later taken to the locker room. He did not return for the start of the second ha lf. He was replaced by Luke Doty. Sellers completed 6 of 7 passes for 94 yards with one costly interception in the red zone. He was sacked once and had minus-3 yards rushing. - AP College Football

South Carolina gained just 253 yards against the FCS Bulldogs (1-1) and the usually explosive Sellers threw six incompletions in his first eight attempts and finished the game with 128 yards passing. He ran for 23 yards and was the Gamecocks leading rush er until the game's final play. "We know we have to be a lot better. We can't rely on our defense and special teams to score three touchdowns a game," said Beamer, who added his team didn't run or pass the ball efficiently. Sellers said several times he thinks the offense can find an answer to why their execution and communication isn't working as Southeastern Conference play begins. "I'll definitely be better," the sophomore quarterback said. - AP College Football

South Carolina recovered two fumbles inside the 10 leading to its only two touchdowns and the Gamecocks beat Old Dominion 23-19 on Saturday night. South Carolina freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers ran for a 4-yard touchdown with 6:11 to go to finally push the Gamecocks (1-0) past the Monarchs (0-1), picked to finish sixth in the seven-team Sun Belt Conference East Division. Sellers did not have a stellar debut. He completed just 10 of 23 passes for 114 yards and carried the ball 22 times for 68 yards . Old Dominion quarterback Grant Wilson struggled too. He had both fumbles deep in his own territory, threw a second quarter interception in the end zone and ended the Monarchs last chance with another interception with 1:29 left in the game. - AP Colleg e Football
