  Cam Cook scored a go-ahead touchdown with 4:29 left and then the Jacksonville State defense ended two drives to secure a 24-21 victory over Middle Tennessee on Wednesday night. Jacksonville State (5-3, 4-0 Conference USA) is tied atop the league standings with Kennesaw State (6-2, 4-0) after a third straight victory. Jacksonville State scored on its opening three possessions of the fourth quarter. Garrison Rippa made a 47-yard field goal and Deondre Johnson scored on a 30-yard touchdown grab after the replay showed his left foot was down in the end zone.

Middle Tennessee was unable to get past midfield on its final two drives. Cook finished with 21 carries for 105 yards for Jacksonville State. Caden Creel was 13 of 19 for 139 yards with one touchdown. Johnson, who entered with five catches for 74 yards on the season, had four catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Middle Tennessee (1-7, 0-4) has lost six straight games. Nicholas Vattiato threw for 235 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for MTSU.   Cam Cook rushed for 117 yards and three touchdown, Caden Creel threw for 116 yards and a touchdown, and Jacksonville State beat Delaware 38-25 on Wednesday night. Jacksonville State (4-3, 3-0 Conference USA) has won nine straight at AmFirst Stadium. Jacksonville State scored the opening 21 points and extended it to 35-6 after Cook's two short touchdown runs in the third quarter. Garrison Rippa made a 52-yard field goal with 11:57 left in the fourth for a 38-12 lead.

Creel also carried it 12 times for 57 yards for Jacksonville State. Brock Rechsteiner had three catches for 48 yards and a score. Caleb Nix scored for the defense on a 45-yard fumble return. Nick Minicucci was 32 of 50 for 422 yards and a touchdown for Delaware (3-3, 1-2). Viron Ellison Jr. had three short touchdown runs.   WEEK 7 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Cam Cook, Jax State - Jr. - RB - Round Rock, Texas,...Cook had a big-time performance in his return to the Lone Star State with a career-high 218 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries in a 29-27 win over Sam Houston. He becomes the first CUSA player to rush for over 200 yards in a game this season and in the process, enters the weekend as FBS's leading rusher with 832. Cook, the FBS leader in rushes of 10+ yards (31), busted off eight double-digit runs, including a season-long 73-yard rumble in the opening quarter. It was also the third-most rushing yards in a game by an FBS player during the 2025 season, giving him two of the five highest single-game rushing totals this year. - Conference USA Football

  Cam Cook rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns, and Garrison Rippa made a game-winning 52-yard field goal as time expired to give Jacksonville State a 29-27 victory over Sam Houston on Thursday night. Jacksonville State started the final drive at its 17-yard line with 47 seconds left. Cook got the drive going with an 18-yard run and Pearson Baldwin made a 17-yard catch over the middle with five seconds left.

Caden Creel found Baldwin again for a 5-yard gain to get into better field position for Rippa, who entered with a 50-yard make earlier this season, to attempt a career-long kick. Creel had 129 yards throwing and 132 yards rushing for Jacksonville State (3-3, 2-0 Conference USA). Hunter Watson threw for three touchdowns for Sam Houston (0-6, 0-3), which returned home after playing four of its first five games on the road for the first time since 2010. Sam Houston has started 0-6 for the second time in three seasons.   Cam Cook powered a 329-yard rushing day and Jacksonville State ran away from Murray State 45-10 on Saturday. Cook carried 22 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Jacksonville State finished 6-for-6 in the red zone. The Gamecocks (2-2) broke through late in the first with a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive, then stacked 17 second-quarter points for a 24-3 halftime lead. After the Racers (0-4) reached the 3-yard line early in the third, Jacksonville State erased the threat with an end-zone interception and answered with touchdown marches of 84 and 72 yards to make it 38-10. A fourth-quarter drive of 72 yards capped the scoring.

Khristian Lando added 68 yards and a score, Caden Creel rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown and Gavin Wimsatt chipped in 50 yards and a score. Wimsatt went 16 of 29 for 189 yards passing and a touchdown, finding Brock Rechsteiner five times for 89 yards and a 35-yard score. Murray State had 233 total yards and Jim Ogle finished 17 of 27 for 130 yards with two interceptions.   WEEK 2 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cam Cook, Jax State - Jr. - RB - Round Rock, Texas,...Cook had a career day in Jax State's Conference USA opening win over Liberty, helping the team rack up 338 yards on the ground. Cook toted the rock 29 times for 195 yards and scored twice to help the Gamecocks (1-1, 1-0 CUSA) come away with a 34-24 victory. It was the junior's first 100-yard rushing day, and he had touchdown runs of 11 and one yard. Eight of his carries went better than 10 yards, including a long of 31 yards. Jax State ran for 131 yards in the fourth quarter alone, and Cook accounted for 72 of those yards on just eight carries. - Conference USA Football

  Cam Cook ran for 195 yards with two touchdowns and Jacksonville State defeated Liberty 34-24 on Saturday in a Conference USA opener between the past two league champions. Jax State (1-1) turned two takeaways - a fumble and an interception - into 14 points in the first half. The Gamecocks led 17-10 at halftime and 24-10 in the third quarter after Cook's 1-yard touchdown run. That touchdown came at the end of an 83-yard drive and the Gamecocks scored on a 75-yard drive to take a 31-17 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

Two long touchdowns in the fourth quarter kept Liberty within seven points. A 52-yard run by Evan Dickens made it 24-17 and a 62-yard pass play from Ethan Vasko to Donte Lee Jr. made it 31-24 before Jax State's Garrison Rippa kicked a 24-yard field goal for the final score. Rippa had a 50-yard field goal in the first half. Jacksonville State had 338 yards rushing. Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt, who had 78 yards rushing, completed 6 of 12 passes for 52 yards. Vasko threw for 335 yards on 19-for-29 passing for Liberty (1-1). The game was delayed for about 80 minutes in the second quarter due to lightning in the area. - AP College Football
