Brendan Sorsby threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score to help No. 21 Cincinnati beat Baylor 41-20 on Saturday. The Bearcats (7-1, 5-0 Big 12) have won seven straight for the first time since 2021 when they reached the College Football Playoff. Baylor (4-4, 2-3) trailed 24-0 late in the first half, then cut it to 27-20 early in the fourth quarter behind two touchdown passes and a rushing TD by Sawyer Robertson. Sorsby's 23-yard TD run capped a 12-play, 75-yard drive that took more than seven minutes to make it 34-20 with six minutes left. It was Sorsby's fourth TD run of 20 or more yards this season. Cincinnati started fast again Saturday.

The Bears got a third-down stop on the Bearcats' first possession, but a pass-interference penalty gave Cincinnati a first down. A 1-yard touchdown run by Tawee Walker capped an 81-yard drive to put the Bearcats ahead 7-0. After a sack on third down resulted in a Baylor punt, Cincinnati drove 66 yards in 10 plays and Evan Pryor's 5-yard TD run made the score 14-0. Josh Cameron's catch and fumble for the game's first turnover led to Sorsby's 6-yard TD pass to Cyrus Allen that made it 24-0 with 2:34 left in the half. - Cincinnati/AP College Football

Brendan Sorsby threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score and No. 24 Cincinnati took control late and beat Oklahoma State 49-17 on Saturday night for its sixth straight victory. Sorsby completed 20 of 29 passes for 270 yards and Cyrus Allen caught two touchdown passes and ran for a score for Cincinnati (6-1, 4-0 Big 12). They paced an offense that gained 427 yards. Matthew McDoom returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter - the longest interception return in school history - to help the Bearcats become bowl eligible for the first time in coach Scott Satterfield's three years at Cincinnati. "Congratulations men," Satterfield told the team in the locker room. "We're going bowling, baby!" The Bearcats are positioned to do much more than merely go to a bowl game. Cincinnati and BYU are the only remaining unbeaten teams in league play after Arizona State's win over previously unbeaten Texas Tech on Saturday. "But we want to go to one of them good bowls, so we've got to keep winning, right?" Satterfield said to the team. "We've got to keep this thing going." Rodney Fields Jr. ran for a career-high 163 yards and caught three passes for 27 yards for the Cowboys (1-6, 0-4). An energetic crowd that showed up despite the team's struggles couldn't save Oklahoma State from its sixth straight defeat.

It was the Cowboys' fourth straight loss since firing coach Mike Gundy, and all have been by double digits. "Just some little minor miscues that turned catastrophic, you know what I mean," Oklahoma State interim coach Doug Meacham said. "It's like a little bitty thing that just completely implodes on us." Sorsby threw all three of his touchdown passes in the first half to help Cincinnati take a 28-10 lead. The Bearcats scored four touchdowns on four possessions in the first half. Fields broke loose for a 20-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 28-17 before Cincinnati took charge. - Cincinnati/AP College Football

  10/14/25 - QB Brendan SorsbyrJr/2027, Cincinnati, 6-3, 235 (DS#3 QB) + More +

In its third season in the Big 12, Cincinnati has the look of a Power Five program on and off the field. The No. 24 Bearcats are on a five-game winning streak and ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time in nearly three years. Besides the 5-1 record, they are tied with No. 7 Texas Tech and 15th-ranked BYU atop the conference at 3-0. "I think we've played well all year. The key was bringing back the core nucleus of our team last year and adding a few pieces. It's been a good gel, good mesh. The challenge is to keep doing that," coach Scott Satterfield said in his office overlooking the field at the Sheakley Indoor Practice Facility and Performance Center. The football program moved into the $134 million building in June.

It has been a steady climb for Cincinnati, which was the first non-Power Five team to make the College Football Playoff in 2021. Before this week, the last time the Bearcats were ranked was when it was No. 21 on Nov. 20, 2022. The Bearcats joined the Big 12 in 2023 and went 3-9 and 1-8 in conference play. They started 5-2 last season before ending the year on a five-game losing streak. A win at Oklahoma State Saturday night would not surpass UC's conference wins from last year; it would make them bowl eligible for the first time since 2022. Rebuilding jobs have become Satterfield's forte. He helped guide Appalachian State from the Football Championship Subdivision to FBS and then went to Louisville after struggles in the Atlantic Coast Conference. - AP College Football

The Big 12 has hit the midpoint of its season with a pair of 6-0 teams, and in many ways it is no surprise that No. 7 Texas Tech and No. 15 BYU are in that position. No. 24 Cincinnati is the only other Big 12 team to win its first three conference games, making the Bearcats (5-1, 3-0 Big 12) an easy choice as the most surprising team by AP writers who cover the league. With efficient quarterback Brendan Sorsby and linebacker Jake Golday, the Big 12's leading tackler at 9.3 per game, Cincinnati has a five-game winning streak since opening coach Scott Satterfield's third season with a loss to Nebraska. They have already matched last year's win total. Sorsby ranks third in the Big 12 at 295.8 total yards per game, behind only Baylor's Sawyer Robertson and TCU's Josh Hoover, who are 1-2 nationally in passing yards and TDs. Sorsby has thrown for 1,448 yards and 14 touchdowns with only one interception, and run for another 327 yards and five scores. - AP College Football

Cincinnati improved to 5-1 on Saturday with a 20-11 win over UCF. The Bearcats received the most votes of any unranked team last week, finishing 18 points shy of No. 25 Florida State. Another win paired with Florida State's loss could do the trick. - AP College Football

Brendan Sorsby passed for 191 yards and two touchdowns, both to receiver Jeff Caldwell, helping Cincinnati win its fifth straight game, 20-11 over UCF on Saturday. The Bearcats (5-1, 3-0 Big 12) won despite being outgained 413 to 306. Due to injuries to two other quarterbacks, Florida Atlantic transfer Cam Fancher made his second start of the season for UCF (3-3, 0-3) and passed for 222 yards while rushing for 108 yards and a touchdown.

The Knights held their first five opponents scoreless in the first quarter this season before Sorsby found Caldwell for a 40-yard touchdown pass to put Cincinnati ahead 7-0. Sorsby, the nation's highest-rated QB (91.1) through five games according to Pro Football Focus, connected with Caldwell again in the second quarter for a 9-yard TD to make the score 14-0. UCF's pass defense, which ranked 15th nationally with 150.8 yards allowed per game, limited Sorsby to 116 yards passing until tight end Joe Royer's 67-yard reception with 59 seconds left in the third quarter. Royer's big play set up Stephen Rusnak's second field goal, a 24-yarder to make the score 20-3 early in the fourth. - Cincinnati/AP College Football

Brendan Sorsby passed for 214 yards and two touchdowns, Evan Pryor ran for 111 yards and two TDs and Cincinnati used a 17-point first quarter to beat No. 14 Iowa State 38-30 on Saturday. The Bearcats (4-1, 2-0 Big 12) beat a ranked opponent at home for the first time since beating No. 16 Houston 35-20 on Dec. 4, 2021. The Cyclones (5-1, 2-1) trailed 31-7 with 1:08 left in the second quarter before rallying to get within eight with 1:56 left in the game. Cincinnati recovered an onside kick to end the threat. Rocco Becht passed for 314 yards and two touchdowns and ran another two in for the Cyclones.

Sorsby's 82-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Goodie in the fourth quarter was the Bearcats' longest pass play since 2015. Iowa State, one of the least penalized teams in the country, had five penalties for 35 yards in the first half. The Cyclones jumped offside on third down to extend the Bearcats' opening drive, which led to a 30-yard TD run from Pryor for the game's first score. The Cyclones went on to take a 17-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Becht got the Cyclones on the board early in the second on a 14-yard run. Becht scored on a 4-yard run on the final play of the half and then threw an 11-yard TD pass to Brett Eskildsen on the opening drive in the third quarter. - Cincinnati/AP College Football

His 440 yards of total offense were the second most by an FBS player in Week Five. Sorsby completed 18 passes for first downs on Saturday, which were the most by a Big 12 player this season. With 388 yards through the air, the Bearcat QB also tallied the second-highest passing day of his career in his 27th start. - Big 12 Football

Tawee Walker scored on a 2-yard touchdown run with 29 seconds left to lift Cincinnati to a 37-34 victory over Kansas on Saturday. The Bearcats (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) drove 75 yards in 1:16 for the game-winning score. Jalon Daniels put Kansas (3-2, 1-1) ahead 34-30 with 1:45 left when he found Levi Wentz for a 6-yard touchdown. But there was too much time for Brendan Sorsby and the Bearcats. Sorsby was 29 of 43 for 388 yards and two touchdowns for Cincinnati. Daniels threw for four touchdowns and 445 yards. Kansas took the opening drive of the second half and marched 75 yards for the tying score. Daniels found Boden Groen on a 24-yard, wide-open touchdown pass. But Cincinnati answered with a 14-yard Sorsby to Cyrus Allen touchdown to retake the lead.

Daniels found Emmanuel Henderson for a 75-yard touchdown to tie the game at 27-all. Cincinnati had first-and-goal inside the 1-yard line but had to settle for a 24-yard Stephen Rusnak field goal. Kansas struck quickly on a 93-yard touchdown pass from Daniels to Henderson on the Jayhawks' first play from scrimmage. Cincinnati responded with a methodical 13-play, 75-yard drive, capped by a 2-yard touchdown run by Walker. The Bearcats attempted and succeeded on two fourth-down conversions on the drive. Cincinnati appeared to score on an 88-yard punt return just before halftime, but it was nullified by an illegal-block penalty. The Bearcats still drove from their own 6 to the Kansas 25, using a 43-yard field goal by Rusnak for a 20-13 halftime lead. - Cincinnati/AP College Football

WEEK 3 BIG 12 CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brendan Sorsby, QB, Cincinnati,...Despite only playing into the second quarter of UC's blowout victory over Northwestern State, Sorsby made Big 12 history by becoming the first Conference quarterback to throw five touchdowns in one quarter. He finished his day a perfect 15-of-15 passing for 253 yards and five touchdowns with 39 yards on the ground and a rushing score. Sorsby became just the fifth FBS player over the last 30 years to complete 100% of his passes in a game with a minimum of 15 attempts. - Big 12 Football

Brendan Sorsby threw for five touchdowns - all in the first quarter - and he ran for a 23-yard score to help Cincinnati beat Northwestern State 70-0 on Saturday. Cincinnati's 10 touchdowns tied a program record and the 70 points were the second-most in the modern era, trailing 72 against Austin Peay in 2011. Backup quarterback Brady Lichtenberg took over the Cincinnati offense midway through the second quarter. Lichtenberg connected with Cyrus Allen for the sixth touchdown pass in the first half for a 56-0 lead.

Cincinnati had 449 yards of offense in the first half, compared to just 45 for Northwestern State. The Bearcats also had a 21-3 edge in first downs by halftime. Sorsby finished 15 of 15 for 253 yards for Cincinnati (2-1). His longest touchdown pass was a 55-yarder to Caleb Goodie on the first play of the drive. Sorsby became the first Bearcat to throw five touchdowns in a quarter or a half. Sophomore Isaiah Johnson and tied end Joe Royer each had two touchdown receptions for Cincinnati. Northwestern State (1-2), which snapped a 20-game losing streak with a win over Alcorn State on August 28, agreed to play two 10-minute quarters in the second half. - Cincinnati/AP College Football

Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as the Bearcats posted a 34-20 win over the Falcons and former NFL running back and Ohio State Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George, who took his first loss as an FBS coach. George, the 1995 Heisman winner with Ohio State, took over as head coach at Bowling Green (1-1) this season after four years leading FCS Tennessee State. He brought his team and social media sensation Pudge the Cat, the Bowling Green mascot, into Nippert Stadium to face the Bearcats (1-1), who led all the way after Sorsby's 44-yard TD pass to Cyrus Allen.

Bearcats coach Scott Satterfield used a short passing game through three quarters until Sorsby rushed the last 27 yards late in the third to lead 31-10. Sorsby threw for 333 yards. George elected to punt for field position twice in the first half rather than take a risk on fourth-and-short.. The Falcons punted on fourth-and-1 from the Bowling Green 47 in the first quarter and again from the Cincinnati 41 in the second quarter on fourth-and-3. That second time backfired as Cincinnati drove 89 yards to score its third touchdown and take a 21-0 lead on Sorsby's 9-yard toss to Jeff Caldwell. Sorsby connected with Allen for 44- and 2-yard touchdowns for the Bearcats' first two scores. - Cincinnati/AP College Football

Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Brenan Sorsby had a strong first game in the Queen City on Saturday afternoon in the Bearcats 38-20 win over Towson. Sorsby threw for 383 yards and two touchdowns while adding two scores on the ground. The Bearcats took the ball to start the game and quickly went 75 yards for the opening score. Wide receiver Aaron Turner covered 49 yards on the drive, catching a short pass and sprinting all the way down to the Towson 16-yard line. Sorsby threw two touchdowns in the first quarter for 42 and 61 yards respectively. The Bearcats had eight plays for 20-plus yards.

Playing without defensive tackle Dontay Corleone, the Bearcats struggled to stop Towson's running game. The Tigers rushed for 194 yards on 5.2 yards per carry to keep the game close throughout. Cincinnati rushed for 275 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown run by Evan Pryor. After struggling to run the ball in the first half, gaining just 67 yards on the ground, the Bearcats found bigger chunks of yards in the second half. Special teams were a problem for the Bearcats, primarily in the first half. The Bearcats muffed a punt, had a kickoff go out of bounds, and kicker Carter Brown missed a 31-yard field goal. Michael Musaari, who muffed a punt in the first half, dropped another punt midway through the fourth quarter, but fell on the ball for his own recovery. - AP College Football
