Vanderbilt football pass rusher Miles Capers will miss the 2022 season with a knee injury, the program announced Wednesday. Capers suffered the injury during Monday's practice and will undergo surgery soon. "When our teammates hurt, we hurt, and we certa inly hurt for Miles right now," coach Clark Lea said in a statement. "He has the full support of our program as he begins his journey back. Miles is part of the heartbeat of our program, and he will strengthen the team this fall through his presence and fighting spirit." Capers redshirted as a freshman in 2021, playing in the final four games of the season. He was set to take on a bigger role in 2022. Vanderbilt's other options at the hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker position include redshirt sen iors Michael Owusu and Elijah McAllister and freshmen Darren Agu and BJ Diakite. - The Tennessean

From Sumter, South Carolina, Caper hurt a knee in practice this week . "When our teammates hurt, we hurt, and we certainly hurt for Miles right now," Lea said in a statement. "He has the full support of our program as he begins his journey back. Miles is part of the heartbeat of our program, and he will strengthen the tea m this fall through his presence and fighting spirit." The 6-foot-5 Capers played in the final four games last season and had three tackles. Capers was a three-star prospect coming out of high school and the 17th overall prospect in South Carolina in ESP N.com's ratings. Vanderbilt opens the season Aug. 27 in Hawaii. - AP College Football
