2022 ALL-CONFERENCE USA FIRST TEAM: DB: Ridge Texada, North Texas,...Texada was called upon early in the year after John Davis, Jr., suffered a season-ending injury in the team's season-opening win at UTEP. The undersized cornerback didn't take long to s eize the job and leave his mark. Through 13 games, Texada has 40 tackles, two tackles for-loss, a team-high three interceptions, and a team leading 15 pass breakups. Two more passes defended (interceptions + pass breakups) would give him the program reco rd for a season, previously set by Kemon Hall in 2018 with 19. His three interceptions are the most for a UNT player since 2018. He enters the Frisco Bowl tied for fourth in FBS in total passes defended this season. - North Texas Football

OCT 3 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: North Texas DB Ridge Texada finished the day with four tackles (all solo), four pass breakups, a tackle for-loss, two interceptions and an interception return for a touchdown in the win over Florida Atla ntic. Texada's 58-yard interception return for a touchdown with 9:22 left in the first half marked the first career interception for Texada and the first interception return for a touchdown for UNT since Kemon Hall's against Arkansas on Sept. 15, 2018. O n his second interception, Texada's 58-yard interception return to the FAU 1-yard line set up a Mean Green touchdown to take a 42-21 lead with 8:23 left in the third quarter. Texada became the first UNT player with two interceptions in a game since DeSha wn Gaddie had two against UTEP on Dec. 20, 2020 and Texada is only the 13th UNT player since 2000 with two interceptions in a game. The last time a UNT player had more than four pass breakups was in 2011, when Royce Hill had five in a game. - Conference USA Football
