Multiple Vanderbilt football players have opted out of the upcoming season due to concerns over COVID-19. Coach Derek Mason told ESPN on Saturday that Vanderbilt has had "five or six" opt out, including senior linebacker Dimitri Moore, who was the Commod ores' leading tackler in 2019. "We've had five or six opt out, and I know there will be several across the league as this thing gets closer," Mason told ESPN. "Our kids are looking, listening and paying attention and making decisions for themselves, and that's exactly what me and my program encourage. You want these guys to be part of your program and part of your team, but not if they're uncomfortable." Besides Moore, other players identified were offensive linemen Jonathan Stewart, who made his decisi on known Friday on Twitter, along with Cole Clemens and Bryce Bailey. They join kicker Oren Milstein, a graduate transfer, who previously announced he would not play in 2020. - The Tennessean
