Kansas State totaled more than 500 offensive yards in consecutive games for the first time in school history on Saturday after dismantling Bowling Green 52-0. The Wildcats look to dominate to start the season after outscoring Nicholls and Bowling Green 1 11-14 combined. "I challenged the guys this week to improve upon week one and in particular this morning to get the fight started quickly and jump on them from the start," head coach Chris Klieman said. "I was so pleased." The Wildcats did just that, hol ding their opponent scoreless in the first half for the second straight week.It was an offensive mismatch as Malik Knowles had 99 receiving yards and two touchdown catches and Skylar Thompson threw for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Knowles m issed a few catches last week, but made up for those against the Falcons "It was relieving, that was my main focus throughout the week to make sure that didn't happen again," Knowles said. James Gilbert led the Wildcats' ground game for the second straig ht game with 103 rushing yards and found the end zone twice. Jordan Brown, Harry Trotter and Joe Ervin also provided rushing touchdowns. Kansas State has scored 10 rushing touchdowns in two games. The Wildcats played many freshmen, including Ervin and Ja cardia Wright, who combined for 22 carries, 87 yards and a touchdown. - AP College Football

Chris Klieman's debut as the coach at Kansas State couldn't have gone a whole lot better. The Wildcats rolled up 573 total yards while holding Nicholls to just 276. Six different players scored a touchdown, including defensive back Jonathan Alexander. Ka nsas State committed just two penalties and never turned the ball over. But when asked what he liked most in the 49-14 rout, Klieman replied: "That it's over.""It was a lot of nervous energy. Nobody knows where they're supposed to be pregame. This first week was kind of a circus," said Klieman, who led North Dakota State to four national titles in five seasons before taking over for the retired Bill Snyder last winter. "It's exciting. I'm a competitor by nature and it is fun to win. But I was mor e excited to see the guys have fun." They had plenty to enjoy. Skylar Thompson threw for 212 yards and accounted for two touchdowns. James Gilbert paced a Kansas State running attack that rolled up 361 yards by going for 115 and a score. Jordan Brown, Ha rry Trotter and Tyler Burns also ran for touchdowns in a game that was never in doubt. - AP College Football
