TRADE NOTES
Jets 2022 Draft History
1 30 30  Dustin Keller TE Purdue (From Packers)
Draft Scout Says: The story of the first round -- the exclusion of all wide receivers -- was enhanced with the Jets trading back into the first round and selecting the only pass catcher of the top 31 picks with tight end Dustin Keller. Keller, at 6-2, 240 pounds is more of a receiver than a traditional tight end, but is a tough matchup for linebackers and safeties and should provide the Jets with a dynamic threat down the seam.
Seahawks 2022 Draft History
2 7 38  John Carlson TE Notre Dame (From Ravens)
Draft Scout Says: The Seahawks hitched their wagon to the tired legs of Marcus Pollard at tight end last season to very marginal results. In aggressively trading up to get Carlson, the team adds the most NFL-ready tight end of the 2008 draft. What he lacks in upside, Carlson more than makes up for in consistency as a medium range target and inline blocker.
Commanders 2022 Draft History
2 17 48  Fred Davis TE Southern Cal (From Falcons who acquired pick and 1st- and 2nd-round picks in 2007 draft from Texans for QB Matt Schaub and 1st-round pick in 2007 draft, March 22, 2007.)
Draft Scout Says: Chris Cooley doesn't have to look over his shoulder with the selection of Fred Davis, but for Jim Zorn's offense to work effectively, more traditional tight ends were needed. Davis, the Mackey Award winner, has the athleticism to move around, while also holding up at the point of attack as a run blocker.
Cowboys 2022 Draft History
2 30 61  *Martellus Bennett TE Texas A&M
Draft Scout Says: In trading Anthony Fasano to Miami, the Cowboys suddenly found themselves with a hole at the position. Possessing the best combination of size, athleticism, and strength, Martellus Bennett has unique upside among this year's tight end class. Certainly Jason Witten has nothing to worry about as the starter, but in Bennett, the Cowboys have an exciting developmental talent.
Chiefs 2022 Draft History
3 13 76  Brad Cottam TE Tennessee (From Lions)
Draft Scout Says: With three picks in the round the Chiefs can afford to take a gamble on greatness, at times, and in tight end, Cottam, they are projecting he can be a better NFL player than collegiate one. Cottam, who was limited to only a handful of starts as a senior due to injuries, leapt up the board with a fantastic showing throughout Senior Bowl week.
Titans 2022 Draft History
3 22 85  Craig Stevens TE California
Draft Scout Says: The free agent addition of Alge Crumpler gave the Titans an underneath target for Vince Young, but for how long? Considering Crumpler's age, the Titans were wise to add Stevens, who flashes the receiving ability scouts want and is among the draft's better in-line blockers from the tight end position.
Packers 2022 Draft History
3 28 91  *Jermichael Finley TE Texas
Draft Scout Says: Possessing the athletic upside that few tight ends in this class can boast, the Packers added a unique developmental prospect in Finley in the late third round. With Donald Lee starting, the Packers don't have to push Finley too much too soon, as the former Longhorn, who left after his redshirt sophomore, is raw. He is a natural receiver, however, who only needs to add repetitions as a route-runner and strength as a blocker.
Browns 2022 Draft History
4 12 111  Martin Rucker TE Missouri (From Cowboys through Lions)
Colts 2022 Draft History
4 29 127  Jacob Tamme TE Kentucky
Draft Scout Says: Indianapolis lets Ben Utecht walk as a restricted free agent, and they find almost the exact same player in Kentucky's Jacob Tamme. A straight-line receiving target with good enough speed to threaten the seam and enough size to be a red zone target.
Bills 2022 Draft History
4 34 132  Derek Fine TE Kansas (Compensatory)
Panthers 2022 Draft History
5 6 141  Gary Barnidge TE Louisville (Panthers acquired pick and 5th-round pick in 2008 draft from Jets for DT Kris Jenkins, February 29, 2008.)
Bears 2022 Draft History
5 25 158  Kellen Davis TE Michigan State (From Seahaws through Bucs and Jaguars who acquired pick from Seahawks for RB Alvin Pearman and 7th-round pick in 2008 draft, September 1, 2007.)
Colts 2022 Draft History
6 30 196  Tom Santi TE Virginia
Bengals 2022 Draft History
6 41 207  Matt Sherry TE Villanova (Compensatory)
Falcons 2022 Draft History
7 25 232  Keith Zinger TE LSU (Falcons acquired pick from Steelers for CB/KR Allen Rossum, September 1, 2007.)
Chiefs 2022 Draft History
7 32 239  Mike Merritt TE Central Florida (Chiefs acquired pick from Giants for PK Lawrence Tynes, May 22, 2007.)
