  Josh Pitsenberger rushed for two touchdowns, Noah Piper kicked four field goals and Yale defeated Stonehill 47-7 on Saturday. Pitsenberger scored from 6-yards out, Wilhelm Daal scored on a 25-yard run and Piper booted three of his field goals in the first half as the Bulldogs (3-2) took off to a 23-0 halftime lead. The Bulldogs were denied their first shutout since 2021 when Aiden Garrett scored from 1-yard out with 35 seconds remaining for the Skyhawks (2-5).

Pitsenberger finished with 69 yards rushing on 13 carries. Dante Reno was 16 of 24 for 267 yards passing and a TD to Jaxton Santiago, who had five catches for a career-high 150 yards. Yale outgained Stonehill 481-152. Jack O'Connell threw for 109 yards for Stonehill, which was held to 35 yards rushing. - AP College Football

  SEPT 22 IVY LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Inumidun Ayo-Durojaiye, Yale,...Ayo-Durojaiye anchored Yale's defense in the Bulldogs' 41-24 win over Cornell on Sept. 27, finishing with a career-high 17 tackles. His performance surpassed his previous best of 12 (Nov. 9, 2024 vs. Brown) and marked the most by a Yale player since Foye Oluokun recorded 16 against Colgate in 2014. The Bulldog defense also turned in a historic effort, amassing 99 total tackles, which is the program's highest single-game total since posting 108 against Lehigh in 2016. - Yale Football

  Josh Pitsenberger rushed for three touchdowns, Abu Kamara had a pair of interceptions including a pick-6 and Yale defeated Cornell 41-24 in an Ivy League opener on Saturday. Pitsenberger's 4-yard run with two minutes left gave Yale a 10-point cushion before Kumara's 66-yard score. Yale picked off four passes though the Bulldogs also had three turnovers.

Pitsenberger rushed for 142 yards on 28 carries though he lost two fumbles. He has six touchdowns this season for the Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0). Dante Reno passed for 139 yards with a TD and an interception. The game was tied at 14 by halftime before the Bulldogs scored 27 points in the second half including two field goals by Noah Piper, including a 50-yarder, and Reno's 20-yard TD pass to Jaxton Santiago for a 27-14 lead midway through the third quarter. Devin Page was 24-of-51 passing with two touchdowns and he ran for another but he also had the four interceptions for the Big Red (0-2, 0-1).   Josh Pitsenberger ran for 127 yards and three touchdowns and Yale opened its 152nd season of football with a 28-10 win over Holy Cross on Saturday. The Bulldogs took control in the second half with three straight touchdown drives, piling up 193 yards of total offense. Pitsenberger's third touchdown, a 10-yard run up the middle, made it 28-3 with 11:49 left in the game. Sitting on a 7-3 lead at halftime, Pitsenberger's second 1-yard touchdown run made it 14-3 and then Dante Reno connected with Nico Brown for a 29-yard score. Reno was 13 of 18 for 166 yards and the Bulldogs had 318 yards of offense to overcome 13 penalties for 100 yards. Brown finished with 119 yards on five receptions. Cal Swanson threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Charly Mullaly in the final minute of the game for the Crusaders (0-4). Swanson was 15-of-30 passing for 193 yards but was sacked four times. - AP College Football

  2022 IVY LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Yale freshman running back Joshua Pitsenberger was voted the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. The Bethesda, Md., native rushed for 667 yards and seven touchdowns on 120 carries during his rookie campaign. His top rushing output came in a crucial win over Princeton, which kept the Bulldogs in contention for the Ivy title, when he gained 108 yards and rushed for a score against one of the top rushing defenses in the FCS.   2022 JERRY RICE AWARD FINALIST: Joshua Pitsenberger, Yale, Fr., 6-0, 205 (Ivy),...Pitsenberger helped the Bulldogs lead the Ivy League in rushing offense. His 667 yards were fourth in the league, and he was a four-time Ivy Rookie of the Week selection. His top performance came against Princeton when he ran for 108 yards, one of six games where he ran for at least 80 yards. In addition, he led the team with seven rushing touchdowns. The Rice Award, now in its 12th season, is named after legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice, who starred at Mississippi Valley State as part of his Hall of Fame career. Past recipients include NFL players Cooper Kupp, Chase Edmonds and Trey Lance.   Nolan Grooms fired five yards to Jackson Hawes with 6:29 left in the game to lift Yale to a 19-14 win over Harvard on Saturday in the 138th meeting of the second-longest rivalry in college football. The Bulldogs won the Ivy League championship in the process after Penn knocked off Princeton 20-19. Yale captured its third Ivy League title in the last five seasons, capturing the outright title in 2017 and a share of the championship in 2019. The Bulldogs came into the game with three straight wins, including a thrilling, 24-20 win over previously unbeaten Princeton.

The Yale ground game, the best in the Ivy League and the eighth-ranked rushing offense in the FCS, ran for 219 yards. Joshua Pitsenberger had 82 yards on 21 carries, Tre Peterson carried 13 times for 74 yards and a touchdown and Grooms added 63 yards on 15 carries. Harvard's Charlie Dean threw for two touchdowns, hitting Scott Woods II from 64-yards out to tie the game at 7-7 in the second quarter and connecting with Tyler Neville on a 24-yards touchdown early in the fourth quarter to put the Crimson in front, 14-13. But after Yale scored to retake the lead, the Crimson could not manage a first down. Yale leads the series 69-61-8, but since Ivy League play in 1956, Harvard leads 37-28-1. - AP College Football

  Nolan Grooms passed for a touchdown and ran for another in a 17-point third quarter and Yale handed Princeton its first defeat, 24-20, on Saturday. The victory denied Princeton (8-1, 5-1) the chance to at least clinch a share of its second straight Ivy League title and boosted Yale (7-2, 5-1) into a first-place tie. Princeton, ranked 16th in the FCS coaches poll, plays Penn, and Yale faces Harvard in next week's finales. Grooms threw a 14-yard scoring pass to Chase Nenad for a 14-all tie early in the third quarter, Jack Bosman's 44-yard field goal just cleared the crossbar for the lead and Groom's 19-yard run had Yale ahead 24-14 heading into the final quarter.

Stenstrom and Carson Bobo connected on a 22-yard score in the fourth quarter but the extra-point try was blocked. Brandon Benn picked off Stenstrom for the second time at the Yale 10 with 3:27 remaining. Princeton's final possession began with 1:35 left and ended at the Yale 15 with an incomplete pass into the end zone on the game's final play. Grooms rushed for 152 yards and Joshua Pitsenberger 108 more. Stenstrom was 34-of-52 passing for 367 yards with three TDs but also the two picks.   Nolan Grooms threw three touchdown passes and Yale scored twice after turnovers in a 35-point second quarter on its way to a 69-17 victory over Brown on Saturday. brown (3-5, 1-4 Ivy League) had turnovers on its final three first-half possessions. Two were turned into touchdowns, one on Reid Nickerson's strip of Aidan Gilman that Hamilton Moore returned 19 yards for a score and the other on Joseph Vaughn's 75-yard pick-6 with 22 seconds left in the half for a 52-3 lead. Grooms was 12-of-16 passing for 205 yards and the Bulldogs ran for 337 yards. Tre Peterson rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns, including a 53-yarder in the third quarter for a 66-3 lead.

Brown's Aidan Gilman, who was the league's offensive player of the week after a win over Penn last week, was 24-of-36 passing for 150 yards and two interceptions. Will Jarvis threw a touchdown pass to Wes Rockett in the final quarter. The last time the Bulldogs (6-2, 4-1) scored 60-plus points was in 2003 against Towson (62) and the 69 points were the most since 1930. The Yale record is 89 points against Vermont in 1929. The 69 points are the most given up in Brown history. Yale's win was its fifth in a row over the Bears. - AP College Football

  Nolan Grooms threw four touchdown passes and Yale beat Columbia 41-16 on Friday night. Yale (5-2, 3-1 Ivy League) bounced back from a 20-13 loss at Pennsylvania and has won five of its last six games. Grooms was 16-of-33 passing for 346 yards. Ryan Lindley had two touchdown catches and finished with six receptions for 100 yards. Chase Nenad had three catches for 117 yards and a score. Nendad made a one-handed, over-the-shoulder, 19-yard grab in the end zone to give Yale a 17-16 lead with 5:32 remaining in the second quarter. Grooms and Lindley connected for an 83-yard touchdown in the first quarter and again with a 10-yard TD early in the fourth. Caden Bell threw for 224 yards that included a 64-yard touchdown pass to JJ Jenkins for Columbia (3-4, 0-4). Joey Giorgi had a 13-yard touchdown run.
