  11/27/20 - Trey SmithrSr/2022, Wyoming, 6-0, 210 (DS#97 RB) + More +

Lee Williams had three short touchdown runs, Trey Smith rushed for a career-high 164 yards with a touchdown and Wyoming rolled up 399 yards on the ground to breeze past winless UNLV 45-14 on Friday night. Xazavian Valladay kicked off the Cowboys rushing attack on the second play of the game, bursting through a gap up the middle and sprinting 78 yards untouched to score. Valladay finished with 94 yards rushing. Smith broke off the biggest game of his five-season career at Wyoming, surpassing 100 yards early in the third quarter and squeezing past a would-be tackler to score on a 28-yard run. Quarterbacks Max Gillam and Doug Brumfield scored keepers for UNLV, late in each half.

UNLV was held to 290 yards of offense with six punts, an interception and a fumble. The turnovers resulted in 14 Wyoming points. Junior linebacker Chad Muma had three sacks for the Cowboys. Williams passed for 99 yards and rushed for another 43 with three TDs. It was a rare blowout in this series as Wyoming and UNLV have battled through four overtime contests in Las Vegas, including a 69-66 three-OT slugfest in 2016 that remains the highest scoring game in the Mountain West Conference (No. 5 in FBS). - AP College Football

  11/21/20 - Garrett CrallrSr/2022, Wyoming, 6-4, 239 (DS#47 DE) + More +

Garrett Crall may have to wait at least one more week before making his season debut. The Cowboys' senior defensive end is still working his way back from offseason foot surgery and isn't likely to play against Utah State, Bohl said. Crall, a two-year starter, is the Cowboys' most experienced defensive lineman with 126 career tackles and 11.5 sacks. Crall had been isolated through contact tracing after making the trip with UW to Colorado State last week, but Bohl on Monday only mentioned Crall's injury as the reason he will likely miss his fourth straight game. - Casper Star-Tribune

  10/23/20 - Garrett CrallrSr/2022, Wyoming, 6-4, 239 (DS#47 DE) + More +

Wyoming will be without its most experienced defensive lineman in its season opener against Nevada. Defensive end Garrett Crall won't make the trip to Reno as he continues to work his way back from a foot injury. The 6-foot-4, 238-pound senior had surgery on his left foot during the offseason after injuring it during UW's preparation for the Arizona Bowl 10 months ago. Crall said it's the same foot he broke as a sophomore in 2018 but a "totally different injury." It's taken longer to heal this time around. "Things went well with the surgery, but there were some problems healing," Crall said. "So we just had a couple of procedures. Now everything is good and looking up." Crall said he doesn't have pain in his foot anymore, and there's no structural damage. He said he had hoped to be ready for Saturday's game against the Wolf Pack, classifying his status as week to week. UW coach Craig Bohl said he's optimistic Crall will be available for UW's home opener against Hawaii next week. "He had a hard time healing a spot in there from a surgery, so he's a little bit behind from that standpoint," Bohl said. "We hope to have him pretty soon." - Casper Star-Tribune

The Southern California native started for the Cowboys against UNLV and finished the season with 21 total tackles. The reason for Murry's departure was not disclosed. Listed atop the depth chart at cornerback are redshirt juniors C.J. Coldon and Azizi Hearn. Coldon started the first three games of 2019 before a knee injury sidelined him while Hearn, a University of Arizona transfer, started the final 10 games of the season. - Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  05/14/20 - Alijah HalliburtonSr/2020, Wyoming, 6-0, 197 (DS#11 SS) + More +

Though he's been surrounded by family and friends in Colorado, Alijah Halliburton has admittedly spent the better part of the past three weeks stuck inside the depths of his own head. Halliburton, the University of Wyoming's first team All-Mountain West safety, was hopeful he might hear his name called on the third day of the 2020 NFL draft in late April. Following a breakout senior season where he led all defensive backs nationally with a staggering 130 tackles and was named defensive MVP of the Arizona Bowl, Halliburton felt he had a shot at being selected in the sixth or seventh rounds. At the very least, he thought he would sign fairly quickly with a club as an undrafted free agent. It's been 18 days since the draft came and went, and Halliburton is still wondering what went wrong.

Were his stats not as meaningful as he thought? Was playing in the MW being held against him? Could he have done anything differently during the season and in the pre-draft process? And, perhaps most importantly: Was football still in the cards for him? "It went the worst way it could possibly go for me," Halliburton told WyoSports. "I've been questioning everything really, what to do with my life. Should I just move on?" Halliburton is staying ready if that phone call from the NFL comes, and he isn't expecting to be given a job. All he wants, he said, is a chance. And the fact he hasn't gotten one so far is what hurts the most. "I can't keep waiting for an opportunity," he said. "What's a tough pill to really swallow is not getting a shot … I've seen so much over the last four years." - Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  03/23/20 - Logan WilsonrSr/2020, Wyoming, 6-2, 241 (DS#3 ILB) + More +

Wilson had a storied career that saw him collect 421 tackles, ranking fourth in UW history. The 2019 Butkus Award finalist has seen his draft stock rise since the start of his senior season. Seen somewhat as a fringe prospect prior to 2019, Wilson put himself on the board with 105 tackles and four interceptions as a redshirt senior, displaying the type of playmaking NFL clubs covet. The team captain was the heart and soul of a stout Cowboys defense that surrendered just 17.8 points per game last season. Wilson also played in the prestigious Senior Bowl in January, where he logged two tackles. "He had good tape and he was able to play out in space. He's smart, but it was going to be important that he would run well," UW coach Craig Bohl said. "(Scouts) are doing their due diligence and homework, and that's usually an indication when a guy's moving up. They're digging a little bit more to make sure they got the right guy."

One of the questions on Wilson going into the combine was his speed and athleticism; his subsequent performance alleviated such questions. "I thought I accomplished what I wanted to at the combine. I talked it over with my agent and my trainer, and didn't think I needed to redo anything like that (at Pro Day)," Wilson said. "I wanted to excel in the position drills, mainly. "They put us through some different position drills than we did at the combine. I wanted to show that I was still able to do those." - Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  03/13/20 - Alijah HalliburtonSr/2020, Wyoming, 6-0, 197 (DS#11 SS) + More +

With the proverbial chip on his shoulder firmly intact, Alijah Halliburton made the most of the biggest job interview of his life. The former University of Wyoming safety was one of 10 former Cowboys who participated in the school's Pro Day workout Tuesday morning. The workouts are for NFL scouts and personnel to observe players preparing for the 2020 NFL Draft, which begins April 23-25. A total of 23 NFL teams had representatives in attendance, according to a UW spokesman. A total of 13 former UW players were on NFL rosters last season. At one end of the spectrum Tuesday stood Logan Wilson, the All-American linebacker from Casper, who has shot up draft boards since his NFL Combine workout in late February. Wilson is widely projected to be drafted in the middle rounds of the upcoming draft.

On the other end was Halliburton, a 2019 first team All-Mountain West selection that did not earn a combine invite or any postseason all-star game invitations. "To be honest with you, (the toughest part of this process has been) making sure I'm staying calm. Anything can happen. Maybe I might slip or something, just making sure that I go 100% even if I slip, still finish the line, don't get frustrated. Just be there mentally and just keep on working. "I definitely want to get drafted. Everyone wants to get drafted...I have high expectations for myself, I always have. You can ask Coach Bohl about that...I want to be the best and I'm going to do the best." - Wyoming Tribune

  03/10/20 - Tyler HallSr/2020, Wyoming, 5-08, 186 (DS#76 CB) + More +

University of Wyoming Football held its annual NFL Pro Day on Tuesday and the interest in former Cowboys was high as 23 NFL teams were represented to workout 10 draft-eligible Pokes. The 10 former Cowboys displayed their talents in hopes of earning an opportunity to play professional football at the highest level. Among the Cowboys who completed their college eligibility last season and who were part of the testing on Tuesday were: punter Ryan Galovich, defensive end Josiah Hall, cornerback/kick returner Tyler Hall, safety Alijah Halliburton, tight end Josh Harshman, wide receiver Raghib Ismail Jr., linebacker Cassh Maluia, wide receiver John Okwoli, kicker Cooper Rothe and linebacker Logan Wilson.

While NFL representatives don't release official testing data from Pro Day, one of the reported highlights of the day was when cornerback Tyler Hall was timed as fast as 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash. In comparison to times ran at this year's NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Hall's 4.38 time in the 40 would have tied him for the fifth fastest time ran at this year's NFL Combine. - Wyoming Football
