Four months after he announced he was transferring away from Boise State, Hank Bachmeier has landed at Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs, which play in Conference USA, went 3-9 last season, the first under head coach Sonny Cumbie. Its starting quarterback, freshman Landry Lyddy, entered the transfer portal just over a week ago. "I wanted to play in the Air Raid and in a pass-friendly offense," Bachmeier told ESPN. "I think Coach Cumbie and his track record are a great fit. It's an offense that any quarterback would want to play in." As many remember, Bachmeier hit the transfer portal after four treacherous games to start his senior season.

The Broncos' four-year starting quarterback turned the ball over three times in the opener against Oregon State and was benched for Taylen Green. Then a few weeks later, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound former four-star recruit completed less than 40% of his passes in an embarrassing loss at UTEP. Offensive coordinator Tim Plough was fired the next day and Bachmeier was in the transfer portal not long after. Bachmeier, who will head to Louisiana Tech with two years of eligibility remaining, came to Boise State in 2019 as the highest-ranked quarterback recruit to ever sign with a Mountain West school. - Idaho Press

Former Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier is heading to the Bayou State to finish his college football career. Bachmeier told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Wednesday that he's going to Louisiana Tech, a Conference USA school. He has two years of eligibility remaining. The four-year starter for the Broncos announced he was transferring last September, not long after Boise State lost to major underdog UTEP and offensive coordinator Tim Plough was fired.

PM Bachmeier said he picked the program in Ruston, Louisiana, in part because of head coach Sonny Cumbie's Air Raid scheme on offense. The system routinely produced quarterbacks who passed for more than 4,000 yards a season when he was the offensive coordinator at Texas Tech. The native of Murrieta, California, won the starting job all four years he was at Boise State. He went 20-9 as the starter and ranks in the top 10 in program history in career passing yards (6,605, No. 7) and touchdown passes (41, No. 7). It's a tradition unlike any other. Auburn announced the date for its 2023 A-Day spring game, and unsurprisingly, it coincides with the Saturday of the Masters Tournament. That has often been the case over the years, including last year, and it will again be the case this spring as the Tigers hold their annual spring game on April 8 at Jordan-Hare Stadium. This year's A-Day game will mark the culmination of the Tigers' first spring under new head coach Hugh Freeze, who was hired in late November and tasked with resurrecting a program that fell on hard time during a less-than-two-year tenure under Bryan Harsin.

Freeze retooled the coaching staff, retaining only Cadillac Williams and Zac Etheridge as assistants, and has overhauled the roster with 17 incoming freshmen and a transfer haul featuring a dozen more players; the Tigers' recruiting class ranks 18th nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite team rankings, while its transfer class ranks fourth. Auburn will be allotted 15 practices during the spring, and while an official start date has yet to be announced, the Tigers are likely to return to the field in early March. He rushed for 108 yards and two scores vs. Mississippi State and concluded the season with 121 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns against Alabama, becoming the first Tiger since Carnell Williams to rush for two TDs in an Iron Bowl. "I knew I had to go out there and give my all and do whatever it took," Ashford said after the Iron Bowl. "Unfortunately it wasn't enough. This experience I'll always remember and cherish." Although action doesn't officially start until Monday, among the reported quarterbacks in, or planning to be to enter the transfer portal as of Dec. 1 is Boise State's Hank Bachmeier: He was a three-year starter for the Broncos who decided in September this season to move on. He is most definitely not a dual-threat guy. Bachmeier finished his time at Boise with 6,605 passing yards and 41 TDs but also 19 interceptions from 2019-22. He battled through injuries and played behind an underperforming offensive line.
