  Dayo Odeyingbo, the senior standout defensive end, has opted out of the remaining two games, 247Sports.com reported. He is not on the depth chart, and Odeyingbo's mother confirmed his decision in a Twitter thread. That means Vanderbilt's best defensive player won't face the Vols. Odeyingbo leads the team with nine quarterback hurries, eight tackles-for-loss and 5 1/2 sacks. He is headed to the Senior Bowl and, presumably, the NFL Draft. - Tennessean

  LSU safety Mo Hampton, who has missed the team's last two games, will be available to play against Alabama, coach Ed Orgeron told reporters Wednesday morning. The 6-foot-, 215-pound sophomore started at safety in LSU's first four games, played sparingly against Auburn, then did not play against Arkansas and Texas A&M. "He's available this week and ready to go," Orgeron said during the Southeastern Conference weekly teleconference.   Michigan graduate transfer Stephen Spanellis, an offensive lineman, has opted out of Vanderbilt's 2020 season, coach Derek Mason said Tuesday. And the Commodores' quarterback competition could be impacted by two players being quarantined due to COVID-19. Spanellis is the sixth Vanderbilt player to opt out, including some that indicated concerns over COVID-19 on social media. Linebacker Dimitri Moore, one of those six, opted back into the season last week. Other players who have opted out include placekicker Oren Milstein and offensive linemen Cole Clemens, Bryce Bailey and Jonathan Stewart. Mason said he doesn't anticipate anymore players opting out, but added "a student-athlete can opt out at any time." Spanellis, a 6-foot-5, 300-pounder, played in 37 games in three seasons in his Michigan career.   Vanderbilt kicker Oren Milstein, a Columbia graduate transfer, has opted out of the 2020 season while questioning the "ethics of playing college football during a pandemic," he announced on Twitter. He is believed to be the first SEC player and first FBS player in Tennessee to elect to sit out this season because COVID-19 concerns. Milstein did not immediately respond to a request for an interview. He had been a key offseason pick-up for the Commodores.   Vanderbilt football has added former Oklahoma State wide receiver Tyrell Alexander to the fold as a graduate transfer. The 6-foot-1,182-pound Alexander announced his decision to join Vanderbilt on Sunday via Twitter after three seasons with the Cowboys, mostly playing on special teams. Alexander entered the program as a receiver, but bounced to cornerback and back to receiver in 2018. He played 11 games in 2019 as a receiver and on special teams. The Lancaster, Texas, native caught two passes in 2017 for 68 yards, his only stats at receiver, although he appeared in 23 of 24 games during 2018 and '19.
