  03/06/23 - Rara ThomasrSr/2026, Troy, 6-1, 200 (DS#58 WR) + More +

The attorney for a Georgia wide receiver who transferred from Mississippi State reached an agreement with the District Attorney's office to resolve the charges against him from Jan. 23 for an incident with a female in a UGA dorm. Rodarius "Rara" Thomas is entering a pretrial diversion program to resolve the misdemeanor charge of battery/family violence and a felony charge of false imprisonment was dismissed, attorney Kim Stephens said.

A tentative agreement has been in place for about a month, but it was finally signed on Friday, Stephens said. Police alleged Thomas stood in front of a dorm room door, blocking the exit and telling the female she could not leave, but Stephens said it was dropped primarily because there wasn't enough evidence to support that. The battery charge was for bruising the alleged victim's bicep and causing abrasions to her shin. Thomas will serve 40 hours of community service, complete an anger management class he already started and pay a $500 program fee. - Athens Daily Banner

  01/28/23 - Asa MartinrSr/2024, Troy, 5-10, 199 (DS#102 RB) + More +

Former Auburn running backs Asa Martin and Jordon Ingram have joined the football program at Troy, a school spokesman confirmed to AL.com. Both Martin and Ingram are enrolled in spring semester classes and will participate in spring practice for the Trojans, the 2022 Sun Belt Conference champions. Martin has one year of eligibility remaining, while Ingram has three. Martin - who spent the last four seasons at Memphis - signed with Auburn in the 2018 class after being name Mr. Football by the Alabama Sports Writers Association at Decatur's Austin High School the previous fall. A four-star prospect coming out of high school, he played in five games mostly on special teams as a true freshman. Then-Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn later admitted the Tigers planned to play Martin in only four games that season to preserve his redshirt year, but staffers apparently miscounted and played him in five. Martin transferred to Miami, but never played for the Hurricanes before transferring a second time to Memphis. After sitting out the 2019 season under NCAA transfer rules, Martin played three seasons as part of Memphis' running back rotation. He rushed for a career-best 435 yards and seven touchdowns and also caught 36 passes this past season for the Tigers, and entered the portal as a graduate transfer two weeks ago. - Birmingham News

  01/23/23 - Rara ThomasrSr/2026, Troy, 6-1, 200 (DS#58 WR) + More +

A wide receiver who recently transferred to national champion Georgia from Mississippi State was arrested Monday on felony and misdemeanor charges. Rodarius "Rara" Thomas was booked at around 4 a.m. on a felony charge of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count of family violence battery, according to Clarke County jail records. He spent more than eight hours in jail before being released on $1,850 bond shortly after noon. Jail records showed the 20-year-old Thomas was arrested by University of Georgia police. No other details were immediately available, and it was not known if Thomas had an attorney who could speak for him. "We are aware of a reported incident involving conduct by one of our student-athletes," the Georgia athletic department said in a statement. "While we are limited in what we can say about the incident, the report is disappointing and not reflective of the high standards we have for our student-athletes on and off the field." The arrest of Thomas was another blow to a Georgia team that won its second second straight national championship with a 65-7 rout of TCU on Jan. 9.

A few hours after a celebratory parade through Athens and a ceremony at Sanford Stadium, offensive lineman Devin Willock and a member of the recruiting staff were killed in an early morning car wreck on Jan. 15. Excessive speed has been cited as one of the causes of the crash, which remains under investigation. Thomas, who is from Eufaula, Alabama, was one of Mississippi State’s leading receivers this past season, with 44 catches for a team-high 626 yards and seven touchdowns. He announced his transfer to Georgia in December. - AP College Football

Gunnar Watson's 12-yard scoring pass to RaJae' Johnson in the third period put No. 23 Troy ahead to stay, and the Trojans forced five turnovers in an 18-12 come-from-behind win over No. 22 UTSA in the Duluth Trading Cure Bowl on Friday. Troy (12-2) closed out the season with 11 straight victories and set a school record for wins in a season. Robertson picked off a pass by UTSA'S Frank Harris near the goal line in the third quarter. Robertson returned the interception 61 yards, with a 15-yard personal foul penalty tacked on at the end, and the pick set up the go-ahead score. Watson's TD pass to Johnson gave the Trojans a 13-12 lead, and a 2-point conversion pass to tight end Clayton Ollendieck made it 15-12 with 2:43 remaining in the third quarter.

Harris connected with Zakhari Franklin for a 2-yard scoring pass early in the second quarter to make it 9-0. Jared Sackett added a 42-yard field goal at 6:41 of the second quarter to extend UTSA's lead to 12-0. Harris went 23 for 42 for 198 yards, with an interception and a TD.
