Sincere McCormick ran 23 times for a program-record 251 yards with two TDs to help UTSA beat North Texas 49-17 on Saturday. It was the first 200-yard rushing game in UTSA's 10-year history as McCormick broke his own single-game record of 197 yards rushing that he set in the season opener on Sept. 12 — a 51-48 double-overtime win against Texas State. The Roadrunners (7-4, 5-2 Conference USA) were able to celebrate their senior day by ending a three-game losing streak to the Mean Green (3-4, 2-3) that included last season's 45-3 loss on Sept. 21, 2019, in Denton, Texas. McCormick had 17 carries for 188 yards and a touchdown by halftime and sat out the fourth quarter. McCormick, a sophomore, needs 66 more yards to pass Jarveon Williams for the UTSA career rushing record (2,393). UTSA's 410 yards rushing set a single-game program record. Jaelon Darden had eight catches for 143 yards and a touchdown and Oscar Adaway III ran 15 times for 101 yards for North Texas. - AP College Football

Jamal Ligon has developed into one of the top young defensive players in C-USA. He has posted 68 tackles, four sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles. The tough aspect of seeing Ligon excel for UTSA is that he was committed to the Mean Green for several months. Ligon played for Kurt Traylor at Tyler Lee. Traylor joined his brother's staff at UTSA and helped convince Ligon to sign with the Roadrunners. - Denton Record

NOV 23 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: It was a record-setting day for RB Sincere McCormick in UTSA's 23-20 victory at Southern Miss on Saturday, as the sophomore running back broke the school's single-season rushing yardage record after piling up 173 yards on the ground. McCormick carried 32 times and scored a pair of touchdowns to help the Roadrunners beat the Golden Eagles for the first time in Hattiesburg and reach six wins for the fifth time in the program's 10-year history.

The Converse Judson High School product broke loose for a 69-yard TD dash on the opening drive of the third quarter that gave UTSA the lead and pushed him over the 1,000-yard mark this season and the 2,000-yard barrier for his career. Later in the third, McCormick eclipsed the previous school standard of 1,042 yards set by Jarveon Williams in 2015 and he also matched the single-season rushing TDs mark of nine with his second score of the afternoon on a 1-yard plunge. The 173-yard output marked his fifth 100-yard game of the season and his eighth in only 21 career games, already matching Williams' school record. McCormick paces C-USA and ranks second nationally with 1,094 rushing yards. - Conference USA Football

When the Kansas football team travels to face No. 19 Oklahoma this week, it will be without Denzel Feaster, one of its starting linebackers, for a second week in a row. Although KU head coach Les Miles didn't provide the specifics on what kind of setback Feaster, a senior inside linebacker, is dealing with, Miles revealed on Wednesday night during his "Hawk Talk" radio show that Feaster will be out of the lineup again when the Jayhawks face the Sooners on Saturday (2:30 p.m., ESPN). Feaster, who didn't dress for KU's home loss versus Iowa State this past weekend, remains "a little nicked," according to Miles. "We're not so certain how we'll get him back," Miles said of the possibility of Feaster returning to the lineup. In the first five games of the season, Feaster made 20 total tackles, with 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble. The Jayhawks (0-6 overall, 0-5 Big 12) were down two starting linebackers for the ISU loss, with Feaster injured and junior Dru Prox opting out ahead of the home game. - Lawrence Journal World

Winless through the six first games of the season, the Kansas football program will have to traverse the remainder of the schedule without one of its top defensive players, linebacker Dru Prox. KU head coach Les Miles said following the Jayhawks' 52-22 loss to Iowa State on Saturday that Prox informed the coaches earlier this week he is opting out of the remainder of the 2020 season. "He has a very significant personal reason," Miles said of Prox's decision, which came less than two weeks after KU lost offensive star Pooka Williams to an opt out. "That's certainly not something I will share. But he has reason to opt out, other than football," Miles added of Prox.

An inside linebacker who made nine tackles in his most recent appearance for KU, at West Virginia two weeks ago, Prox entered the weekend as the Jayhawks' third-leading tackler (23 total) even though he had missed two games already this season. "It was a pretty good blow," sophomore safety Kenny Logan Jr. said of losing Prox. "But we have guys behind him that were ready to step in and take the role on. So I'm happy those guys are here." Miles said he doesn't know whether Prox, who is a junior, will be back for the 2021 season. "I would love to have him. I'll tell you that," Miles said. "But he's going to have to - he's got some work he's got to do. Not for me, but for his family." - Lawrence Journal World

Lamonte McDougle, who was expected to play a big role on the interior of Washington State's defensive line this season, has indicated he won't suit up for the Cougars in 2020. Tuesday, the redshirt junior nose tackle posted a highlight video from his Instagram account with a caption reading, "#2021. you only as gangster as your accomplishments as a man so when I say I'm going "gangster" that mean I'm working on some." McDougle also alluded to returning to the field next season in an Instagram comment, writing "I'll be back in 2021 to give you the summary." Reporters haven't been able to view the team's preseason practices due to health and safety protocols, but McDougle hadn't appeared in any of the photographs or video WSU's media relations department has sent over the past three weeks. The former West Virginia defensive lineman and ESPN Freshman All-American didn't indicate specifically if he's opted out of the fall season, or if his absence was injury-related. - Seattle Times

Meeting with UTSA running back Sincere McCormick less than 24 hours after his 37-carry game against Louisiana Tech, coach Jeff Traylor borrowed a line longtime coach Bum Phillips once said about Hall of Fame back Earl Campbell. "I think Earl carried it 40 times one game, and they asked Bum about it, and Bum's response was, 'The ball isn't that heavy, is it?'" Traylor said. "I gave him that analogy. He thought that was funny." The joke proved to be more fitting than Traylor anticipated, as McCormick on Tuesday was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week after running for 165 yards and three touchdowns Saturday in UTSA's 27-26 win. McCormick was also named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. "When it comes to awards, I'm just humble," McCormick said. "Hard work pays off, and it clearly shows. I'm grateful, and I'm going to keep working."

McCormick said his focus since Saturday has been taking a "pro mentality" toward recovery. Sunday included contrast bath therapy - three minutes of hot water, followed by one minute in an ice tub - a light workout and stretching. Feeling "kind of heavy" to start the season, McCormick said he worked to become one of UTSA's top performers in practice, drawing praise from Traylor for the metrics he posts on the Roadrunners' tracking data. McCormick said he entered Tuesday's practice feeling "fresh." - Express-News
