  NOV 11 CONFERENCE USA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Southern Miss freshman K Andrew Stein converted all three of his field goal attempts in the Golden Eagles win over UAB, hitting from 35, 44 and 25 yards. He has now made 15-of-18 field goals in his true freshman season, including nine of his last 10 attempts over the last three games. In addition, Stein converted all four extra points against the Blazers and is 27-of-28 this season. On eight kickoffs last Saturday, he averaged 63.0 yards and registered three touchbacks, while limiting the Blazers to 12.2 yards over five returns. - Conference USA Football

  Andrew Stein kicked three field goals, DQ Thomas returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown and Southern Mississippi shut down UAB 37-2 on Saturday. Stein's third field goal in the third quarter put the Golden Eagles (6-3, 4-1 Conference USA) on top 23-2 before Jack Abraham had a pair of touchdown passes, 20 yards to Quez Watkins and 9 to Tim Jones. Abraham was 17 of 22 for 164 yards and with Kevin Perkins picking up 94 yards on just six carries, Southern Mississippi piled up 325 total yards. UAB was leading the league in allowing just 255 yards, 92 on the ground. A first-quarter interception by Shannon Showers led to a 6-yard touchdown run Steve Anderson in the first quarter. Thomas followed up Stein's first field goal with his pick-6 early in the second. Stein kicked a 44-yard field goal on the last play of the first half for a 20-2 lead. UAB (6-3, 3-2) only had 173 yards on offense. It was the 600th win in 103 years of football for Southern Mississippi. - Southern Mississippi/AP College Football

  Jack Abraham threw for 421 yards with three touchdowns and his favorite target, Quez Watkins, caught eight passes for 198 yards and a score and Southern Mississippi defeated North Texas 45-27 on Saturday night. De'Michael Harris ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns to go with 79 yards receiving and another touchdown. The Golden Eagles had 563 total yards. After a wild first half in which the quarterbacks passed for more than 400 yards and Southern Miss led 28-20, the Golden Eagles (4-2, 2-0 Conference USA) scored another 17 points and held North Texas (2-4, 1-1) to 114 yards of offense in the second half.

Abraham and Watkins connected on a 72-yard non-scoring pass play late in the third quarter. After two penalties and a 1-yard rushing loss, the pair connected for a 14-yard touchdown for a 38-20 lead with 2:53 remaining in the third. Harris added a 13-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to go with his first-quarter scores of a 60-yard run and a 59-yard pass from Abraham. Mean Green quarterback Mason Fine completed just 11 of 25 passes for 217 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. All three touchdowns went to Jaelon Darden, who had five receptions for 87 yards.   WEEK 3 C-USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: In his first game of the season for the Golden Eagles, Southern Miss junior WR Quez Watkins caught seven passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns in the win at Troy. He scored on receptions of 64 and 19 yards and also had two catches for 40 yards each in the contest. The receiving yards were the most by any receiver in the FBS this week, are the fifth-most in a game for a Golden Eagle and mark the sixth 200-plus receiving yard outing in school history.

It was the sixth 100-yard receiving game of Watkins' career. He and Jaylond Adams became the first duo to register 100+ yards receiving in the same game since Watkins and Jordan Mitchell did it at North Texas last October and the duo produced the top two receiving yardage totals in the FBS this week. - Conference USA Football

  WEEK 3 C-USA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Southern Miss sophomore KR/PR Jaylond Adams returned his second kickoff for a touchdown this season, which encompassed a 100-yard return in the fourth quarter of the win at Troy. It was the sixth 100-plus yard return in school history and the first since Michael Thomas returned a kickoff 100 yards against UAB in 2014. With his two kickoff returns for touchdowns in the first three games, Adams has now tied both of the school's single-game and career record for kickoff return touchdowns.

He totaled 136 kickoff return yards and added a five-yard punt return. In addition to his kickoff return, Adams collected 11 catches for 180 yards, establishing career highs for both categories. He finished the game with 322 all-purpose yards - the second most ever in a game by a Golden Eagle (Sam Dejarnette had the most against Florida State with 335 in 1982). - Conference USA Football

  Jaylond Adams returned a kickoff 100 yards to help Southern Mississippi thwart Troy's come-back bid and secure a 47-42 victory on Saturday. Troy's Reggie Todd had just returned a kickoff 69 yards as the Trojans closed to 33-28 with 11:28 remaining in the fourth quarter. Adams answered on the following kickoff to stretch the lead to 40-28. The teams then traded touchdowns until Troy's Kaleb Barker hit Khalil McClain on a 35-yard touchdown toss to close to 47-42 with 2:51 remaining. The ensuing onside kick was recovered by the Golden Eagles and they ran out the clock.

The teams had played nine times previously but had never faced off in Troy and Southern Mississippi made the most of the opportunity, going ahead 33-21 after Neil McLaurin nailed Jordan Mitchell on a 51-yard scoring strike early in the fourth. Adams accounted for 322 all-purpose yards, catching 11 passes for 180 yards and returning three kickoffs for 136 yards total. He also had a punt return for five yards and one rush for one yard. Jack Abraham led the Golden Eagles (2-1), throwing for a career-best 463 yards and two scores. Quez Watkins finished with 209 yards receiving.   WEEK 1 CONFERENCE USA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jaylond Adams, KR/PR, Southern Miss,...Southern Miss KR/PR Jaylond Adams opened the season by returning a kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown and then later tallied an 80-yard score on a punt return in the win over Alcorn State. In addition, he added three catches for 21 yards and returned two punts for a total of 93 yards to finish the day with 203 all-purpose yards. His kickoff return for a score was the first for a Golden Eagles since the 2015 season and his punt return for a TD was the first for a Golden Eagle since the opening game last season.

Adams became the first Golden Eagle to score on a kickoff which was the first offensive touch of the game for Southern Miss since Francisco Llanos returned a kick 87 yards against Tulsa (11/26/10), after the Golden Hurricane scored on the game's initial drive. The Adamsville, Alabama native is also the first Southern Miss player to have a touchdown on both a kickoff and punt return in the same season since Tracy Lampley in 2009 and the first player to record two special team return touchdowns in the same game since James Henry accomplished that feat against UTEP in the 1988 Independence Bowl. - Conference USA Football

  Jaylond Adams returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a score to help Southern Mississippi jump to an early lead and beat Alcorn State 38-10 on Saturday in a season opener. Adams, who sat out most of the 2018 season due to an injury, also scored on an 80-yard punt return early in the fourth quarter. Jack Abraham threw for 293 yards and a touchdown for the Golden Eagles. He also ran for a score.

The Golden Eagles held Alcorn State to just 56 yards offense in the first half. As the Braves' offense stalled, Andrew Stein added to Southern Mississippi's early 7-0 edge with a pair of field goals, from 20 and 19 yards, to make it 13-0 at halftime. The Braves opened the second half with a 15-yard scoring dash by De'Shawn Waller to close to 13-7. But Abraham answered for the Golden Eagles on the next drive, throwing a 55-yard strike to Neil McLaurin for a 21-7 lead with 8:26 remaining in the third. Adams' fourth-quarter punt return for a score sealed the win for Southern Mississippi. Noah Johnson threw for 143 yards for the Braves. Waller finished with 51 rushing yards. - AP College Football
