  SEPT 23/WEEK 4 PIONEER LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kevin Glajchen, San Diego, Junior (RS), Defensive End, Saratoga, California,...Glajchen had four tackles for loss, including a pair of sacks, as San Diego downed Harvard, 31-23, for the first time in program history, Saturday. He finished the day with 10 tackles (seven solo) and was credited with a pair of quarterback hurries in addition to his official backfield exploits. Glajchen’s two sacks came on a second-quarter drive that pushed Harvard from the San Diego 15 to the San Diego 25 and led to a missed field goal. - Pioneer League Football

  SEPT 23/WEEK 4 MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: WR Avante Cox, Southern Illinois, 5-10, 175, So., Rochester, Ill. (Rochester High / Wyoming),...The Wyoming transfer caught 7 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown in SIU's 41-28 loss to FBS Arkansas State. It was the most receiving yards by a Saluki wide receiver versus an FBS opponent since Brent Little had 152 yards at Western Michigan in 2005.

On Southern's first play from scrimmage, Cox hauled in a 62-yard pass down the left sideline that set up a Javon Williams Jr. touchdown run to tie the game, 7-7. Later in the first quarter, he caught a 26-yard pass down the right sideline for a touchdown that tied the score, 14-14. After catching two passes in SIU's first two games, Cox has 10 catches in the last two contests. - Missouri Valley Conference Football

Davis also had two catches for nine yards, and returned two kickoffs, giving him a total of 155 all-purpose yards. He moved into 3rd place all-time in career all purpose yards at Southern with 4,596, passing former national player-of-the-year Cornell Craig. It was the 8th 100-yard rushing game for Davis in his last 14 games. His 26-yard TD run in the third quarter was the go-ahead score for the Salukis, who overcame a 14-point deficit with 28 unanswered points. - Missouri Valley Conference Football

He tied the school record for longest reception by a running back with an 85-yard TD catch, and added a 64-yard run for touchdown on the ground.   Javon Williams Jr. ran for two touchdowns and had another score receiving and Stone Labanowitz threw for four touchdowns as Southern Illinois scored 35 unanswered points to beat Massachusetts 45-20 on Saturday. Williams broke for a 64-yard touchdown early in the third quarter and ran 3 yards for another on the team's next drive to give the Salukis (1-1) a 31-13 lead with 7:25 left in the quarter. Both scoring drives were initiated by interceptions. Labanowitz threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, one to Nigel Kilby and the other to Romeir Elliot for a 45-13 lead with 7:35 to play.

Williams finished with 103 yards receiving and 68 yards rushing. Labanowitz threw for 265 yards. UMass scored first but the Salukis came alive early in the second quarter, starting with Labanowitz's 85-yard strike to Williams on first down. Later, Griffin Cerra booted a 39-yard field goal to make it 10-6 with 3:19 left in the half. UMass took a brief 13-10 lead before Labanowitz struck again, this time to D.J. Davis from 32 yards for a 17-13 Salukis advantage at halftime. Randall West threw for 125 yards and ran for a touchdown for the Minutemen (0-2). - AP College Football

Counting both the offensive and defensive units, North Dakota State tops the league with nine total selections, including a league-best six on the first-team unit. Illinois State and South Dakota State, meanwhile, have the second-most selections, with eight total honorees each.
