  Javon Williams Jr. ran for 107 yards and a career-high four touchdowns, Avante Cox had 193 yards from scrimmage and three total TDs, and Southern Illinois beat South Dakota 48-28 on Saturday. Williams had all four of his touchdowns in the first half and the Salukis (4-4, 2-2 Missouri Valley) outscored South Dakota 27-0 in the second quarter. Cox's 11-yard TD reception with 9 seconds left before the break made it 34-7. Cox scored on a 33-yard pass from Kare Lyles in the third quarter and ran it in from 5 yards to make it 48-21 in the fourth. D.J. Davis ran 17 times for 125 yards for Southern Illinois and Landon Lenoir caught four passes for 73 yards. Kai Henry ran 18 times for 116 yards for the Coyotes (3-5, 2-2). In a 35-10 win over No. 18 Youngstown State, Williams Jr. totaled 177 yards (63 rushing, 73 receiving, 41 passing). His highlights included a seven-yard touchdown run, a 73-yard touchdown catch and a 41-yard TD pass.   Kare Lyles completed seven passes and two went for touchdowns and Southern Illinois beat Youngstown State 35-10 Saturday in a Missouri Valley Conference matchup. Lyles was 7-of-9 passing for 160 yards while running back Javon Williams Jr. went 1-of-2 passing for a 41-yard touchdown. Williams also caught a 73-yard touchdown pass, his lone reception of the day, and rushed for 63 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. Youngstown State took its only lead of the game on Colten McFadden's 31-yard field goal with 9:04 left in the first quarter. Williams had a 7-yard scoring run and Lyles threw a 53-yard touchdown to Landon Lenoir for a 14-3 lead before the end of the first. Romeir Elliott ran it in from 3-yards out before Lyles found Williams on the 73-yarder that made it 28-3. The Penguins scored their only touchdown when Nathan Mays connected with Ryan Emans on 22-yard pass with eight seconds before halftime. Southern Illinois (3-4, 1-2) ended a three-game skid and Youngstown State (4-3, 0-3) dropped its third straight. - AP College Football

The Australia native had a long of 58 and three of his six kicks pinned the Redbirds inside the 20. One punt was downed at the ISU 5.   SEPT 23 GLIAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: James Ceasar, Ferris State,...Ferris State University senior cornerback James Ceasar had a big night as the second-ranked Bulldogs beat Ashland 28-13 in the GLIAC opener on Saturday night before a large crowd in Ashland, Ohio. The senior transfer picked off two passes in the fourth quarter and totaled two pass breakups, a sack and a tackle for loss in addition to four solo hits for the FSU defense. Ceasar's interceptions thwarted two potential Ashland scoring drives with the game still in doubt, including one with only four minutes remaining that set up the Bulldogs' final score inside the Ashland seven-yard line to put the game away.

His first pick came early in the fourth with FSU holding onto a slim lead and the Eagles driving inside the Bulldog 25-yard line. Ceasar's play helped the Ferris State limit Ashland to 276 yards of total offense and the defensive unit forced three turnovers while coming up with four sacks and five tackles for loss while holding AU to three-of-17 (18%) on third down in the win. On Southern's first play from scrimmage, Cox hauled in a 62-yard pass down the left sideline that set up a Javon Williams Jr. touchdown run to tie the game, 7-7. Later in the first quarter, he caught a 26-yard pass down the right sideline for a touchdown that tied the score, 14-14.
