2022 PRESEASON MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL SECOND TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): DL Nick Gaes, South Dakota,...Gaes returns for his sophomore season along the defensive line after competing in all 12 games last year. The Alta, Iowa, native racked up two honors in his freshman campaign with a HERO Sports Freshman all-America team and MVFC all-Newcomer team selections. Gaes led the conference with seven solo sacks in Valley play and totaled 10 tackles-for-loss in 2021. He finished as the team's sixth-leading tackler with 35 stops. He had a season-high six tackles including two for loss and a blocked field goal at home against Illinois State last year. SEPT 20 MISSOURI VALLEY NOTABLE PERFORMANCE: PK Mason Lorber, South Dakota -- Lorber made two more field goals and all six extra points in helping South Dakota to a 48-14 win at Cal Poly Saturday. He was good from 20 yards at the start of the second quarter and made a 42-yarder on the final play of the first half that gave USD a 41-7 lead.
