  08/06/19 - C.J. McWilliamsrSr/2022, Purdue, 5-11, 184 (DS#999 CB) + More +

Florida junior cornerback C.J. McWilliams, competing for a spot in the rotation in the secondary, will miss the season because of a ruptured Achilles, coach Dan Mullen said Tuesday. McWilliams suffered the injury in a non-contact situation in practice, Mullen said. "He's going to be out for the year; that's a tough one," Mullen said at a press conference. "It's a shame...That's what's so tough. Guys work so hard, they put in all this work in the offseason and then they suffer an injury."

The Gators, picked No. 8 nationally in the preseason coaches poll, have a pair of standout corners in Marco Wilson and CJ Henderson but have true freshmen behind them, while McWilliams was vying for the nickel back role. He played in nine games and started two last season, making 16 tackles and breaking up four passes. "There's a lot of things we can do personnel-wise to move guys around," Mullen said. - National Post

  08/03/19 - Elijah SindelarrSr/2020, Purdue, 6-3, 225 (DS#55 QB) + More +

Elijah Sindelar revealed one of his goals for the 2019 season. "My goal is to be above 70 percent. However I can get there," Sindelar said of his competition percentage. Considering that Sindelar has yet to complete 60 percent of his passes during the last two seasons, that's quite a jump. But co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brian Brohm has his own goals for the fifth-year senior.

"For me his goal this year shouldn't just be the starting quarterback at Purdue," Brohm was saying after Friday's practice, the second of training camp. "I want him to be the best quarterback in the Big Ten. I want him to be in the conversation for the best quarterback in the country." If Sindelar reaches the 70 percent mark or even comes close, he'll join all of those conversations throughout the season. Sindelar, though, knows he has to improve his efficiency. - Journal and Courier

The Louisville Sports Commission today named 44 multi-talented college football players to the 2019 Watch List for the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse. The Paul Hornung Award, now in its tenth season, is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission and football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung. The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville on March 4, 2020.

The 2019 Watch List is comprised of 13 seniors, 27 juniors and four sophomores who play a total of eight different positions. These players represent 44 universities in 27 states coast-to-coast across the 10 conferences that are part of the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), as well as one independent school. The Big 10 and Pac-12 lead the conferences with eight players, followed by the AAC and SEC with five players each. Players on this year's Watch List accounted for 15,343 rushing yards, 18,538 receiving yards, 14,401 kickoff return yards, 2,897 punt return yards and 323 total tackles in 2018.
