  2022 PRESEASON BIG SKY FOOTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM: CB Anthony Adams (Portland State),...For Adams, a defensive back from Newberg, OR, the preseason All-Big Sky nod is a repeat. The 6-foot, 185-pounder has been a regular on pre- and post-season All-Big Sky teams and is a two-time All-American; once at safety (2019) and once at cornerback (2021). Adams has already appeared on preseason All-America teams and been named as one of the top defensive backs in the nation for 2022.

Adams has been the face of the Viking defense the past few seasons, having started all 35 career games at PSU. He made 52 tackles, five tackles for loss, had three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, five pass breakups and forced a fumble as the Vikings' boundary cornerback in 2021. A 6-1, 270-pounder, Malo had 45 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and forced three fumbles in 2021. Malo ranked fifth in the nation in tackles for loss and 11th in sacks. He ranked in the top 20 in the nation in all three categories and was named second team All-Big Sky Conference. Kelly had 1,111 all-purpose yards and would have led the Big Sky in punt returns (14.4), but did not meet the league minimum for returns. The 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back ranked second on the team with 52 tackles. Adams also had five tackles for loss, five pass breakups, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries and forced a fumble. He was a consensus 2019 first team All-American and should be a top candidate for honors again this season. In three seasons of play, Adams has nine interceptions, four fumble recoveries, 31 pass breakups (third all-time) and 165 tackles.   2021 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): WR Beau Kelly, Portland State,...Kelly, a 5-9, 165-pound junior from Scottsdale, AZ, led the Big Sky Conference in receptions (69), receiving yards (981) and receiving touchdowns (10). He added 15 rushing yards, two pass completions in two attempts for 56 yards, and returned eight punts for 115 yards (14.4). The 69 catches rank as the seventh most for a season in PSU history. His 981 yards left him just short of being the 16th Viking ever to have 1,000 receiving yards in a season. The 10 touchdowns ties for ninth in a season in school history. - Portland State Football

  2021 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): QB Davis Alexander, Portland State,...Alexander, a 6-foot, 195-pound senior from Gig Harbor, WA, completed 266 of 432 passes for 3,075 yards, 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season. He ranked second in yards and touchdowns in the Big Sky Conference. The 3,076 yards were also the seventh most in a season in PSU history. Alexander also rushed for 160 yards and six touchdowns during the season. Alexander was named to the Walter Payton Award Watch List in 2021. The Payton Award goes to the National Offensive Player of the Year. With 40 career games, and 35 career starts, Alexander ends his career with 9,234 passing yards and 63 touchdowns, both of which rank second all-time at PSU behind Neil Lomax. - Portland State Football

  Davis Alexander passed for 299 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for a score to help Portland State beat Weber State 30-18 on Saturday. Malik Walker sealed it with a 39-yard touchdown with under two minutes to play. Alexander completed 29-of-42 passes for Portland State (5-4, 4-2 Big Sky). Nate Bennett caught nine passes for 83 yards, Darien Chase added 79 yards receiving and a score and Walker finished with 51 yards. Bronson Barron passed for 174 yards for Weber State (4-5, 3-3), which has had a share of the Big Sky title each of the last four seasons. Creyton Cooper had seven carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns, and Rashid Shaheed caught seven passes for 90 yards. Cooper opened the scoring with a 51-yard touchdown run.   Malik Walker ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns and Portland State pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Cal Poly 42-21 in Big Sky Conference play on Saturday. Walker had an 18-yard TD run to stake the Vikings (4-4, 3-2) to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter and Jalynnee McGee upped the lead to 14-0 on a 2-yard TD run with 58 seconds left in the period. Spencer Brasch fired a first-down 75-yard scoring strike Chris Coleman on the ensuing drive for Cal Poly (1-7, 0-5), but Matthew Hoffman missed the extra-point kick and, after a scoreless second quarter, left the Mustangs trailing 14-6 at halftime.

Sam Stewart Jr. scored on a 2-yard run and Brasch hit Zedekiah Centers for the 2-point conversion to get Cal Poly even at 14 with 12:19 left in the third quarter. Davis Alexander scored on a 3-yard run with 4:38 left in the quarter to give Portland State the lead for good. Alexander scored on another 3-yard run early in the final period and, following a Cal Poly fumble on the kickoff, Alexander connected with Darien Chase for a 12-yard TD on first down for a 35-14 lead. Walker's 25-yard TD run with 6:08 left in the game capped the scoring for the Vikings. Alexander completed 22 of 36 passes for 198 yards with two interceptions for PSU.   Davis Alexander threw three touchdown passes and Idaho State turned the ball over five times as Portland State rolled to a 31-10 Big Sky Conference win on Saturday. Alexander hit Nate Bennett with a 44-yard touchdown pass on the Vikings' first possession and Malik Walker punched in from the 5 on their second to spark a 17-0 first-quarter lead. Alexander then hit Beau Kelly with a pair of touchdown passes to push the lead to 31-7 in the third quarter. Hunter Hays was 15 of 26 for 140 yards and hit Jared Scott with a 12-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, but was picked off twice. The Bengals (1-5, 1-3) managed just 89 yards on the ground.   Beau Kelly set up the game-winning touchdown with a 30-yard punt return, and Davis Alexander cashed in with a 10-yard run to the end zone early in the fourth quarter as the Vikings earned their first Big Sky Conference win of the season, knocking off Southern Utah 20-13 on Saturday night. Noah Alejado put the Thunderbirds on top, 13-10 early in the third quarter with his second field goal of the game, this one from 29 yards out, but Gianni Smith converted a 28-yard kick to tie the game at 13-13 with 1:09 left in the quarter.

Alexander was 18-of-23 passing for 151 yards, but was picked off once. He carried eight times for 17 yards and a touchdown. Kelly caught seven passes for 59 yards. Jalynnee McGee carried seven times for 78 yards, and Malik Walker had 17 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown for Portland State (2-3, 1-1). Justin Miller was 15 of 23 for 179 yards passing to lead Southern Utah (1-4, 0-2), but the T-Birds managed just 88 yards on the ground on 31 carries. Alexander engineered a nine-play, 90-yard drive in the first quarter, hitting Beau Kelly from nine-yards out for the game's first score. The pair combined on the Vikings' third touchdown, an 18-yard strike to cap a 12-play, 65-yard drive to take a 21-0 lead. Alexander was 23 of 37 for 295 yards, the two touchdowns and an interception to give the Vikings their first win in three starts.
