NOV 24 IVY LEAGUE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Santiago Sturla, Penn,...With the University of Pennsylvania football team's 2025 season finished, senior punter Santiago Sturla was named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. The honor is Penn's ninth of the season and the first of Sturla's career. It's the fifth Special Teams Player of the Week honor the Quakers claimed this year, tying a program record set in 2008. Sturla was excellent in the punting game as Penn took down Princeton, 17-6, Saturday at Franklin Field. He punted four times for 131 yards, had a long of 40 yards, and had two punts land inside the 20-yard line. Most notably, none of Sturla's punts were returned which adds to a successful season for punt defense. Penn allowed just three punts for -12 yards all season long, the first team in FCS history to allow negative yardage throughout a year. - Ivy League Football

Liam O'Brien threw for two touchdowns and Pennsylvania defeated Princeton 17-6 on Saturday in a season finale. O'Brien was 22-of-31 passing for 243 yards. He threw a 2-yard TD pass to Donte Ellis to complete a 19-play, 75-yard drive that took nearly 10 minutes for a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter. O'Brien connected with Bisi Owens on a 39-yard score for a 14-6 lead early in the second half. Mason Walters' 22-yard field goal, set up in part by a 35-yard pass to Jack Donnelly, gave the Quakers (6-4, 4-3 Ivy League) an 11-point lead with 10 minutes to go. Jared Richardson had 95 yards on 12 receptions. Owens had 82 yards on five catches. The Tigers (3-7, 3-5) got their points on two Esteban Nunez Perez field goals. NOV 3 IVY LEAGUE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jayden Drayton, Penn,...Recognized for his effort on special teams that helped the University of Pennsylvania football team get past Brown on Friday night, Jayden Drayton was named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, the conference office announced. The honor is Penn's eighth of the season, claiming at least one award in six of the seven weeks so far. Drayton is earning an Ivy weekly award for the first time in his career. This is also the fourth time a Quaker has claimed Special Teams Player of the Week this season, the most honorees since a program-record five in 2008. After a 54-yard kickoff return, Drayton was instrumental in Penn scoring its fourth touchdown of the night which put the Quakers up 28-14 midway through the third quarter. Liam O'Brien threw a go-ahead touchdown pass and Donte West had two short scoring runs to help Pennsylvania hold off Brown 28-21 on Friday night. Josh Narcisse picked off a fourth-and-7 pass from James Murphy on Brown's first drive and returned it 30 yards to the Pennsylvania 42-yard line. West had a 1-yard touchdown run 11 plays later to put the Quakers up 7-0. Murphy answered with a 44-yard scoring strike to Ty Pezza to tie it 7-7 after one quarter. Penn (5-2, 3-1 Ivy League) regained the lead 50 seconds into the second quarter on O'Brien's 9-yard touchdown toss to Bisi Owens, capping a 10-play drive for a 14-7 advantage. Sean Williams Jr. scored on a 1-yard run at the end of a 74-yard drive less than seven minutes later and the Quakers led 21-7 at halftime.

Murphy pitched to Najih Rahman on fourth-and-goal at the 3 and Rahman passed to Pearson Hill for a touchdown to get Brown (3-4, 0-4) within seven midway through the third quarter. Jayden Drayton returned the ensuing kickoff 55 yards to give Penn the ball at the Brown 45. Williams was pushed out of bounds inside the 1 after a 40-yard run on third-and-6 and West scored on the next play to make it 28-14 heading to the final quarter. Murphy connected with Trevor Foley for a 14-yard touchdown with 4:19 remaining, but O'Brien drove the Quakers to the Bears' 1 before taking a knee on the final play. O'Brien completed 18 of 27 passes for 222 yards with an interception and rushed nine times for 53 yards. Murphy totaled 360 yards on 31-for-44 passing with an interception. Liam O'Brien passed for four touchdowns and ran for another score, Jared Richardson had 157 yards receiving and three scores, and Pennsylvania beat Columbia 35-21 on Saturday for its third consecutive win. O'Brien marched Penn 75 yards down the field, ending in a 31-yard pass to Richardson for a 28-21 edge. Richardson became the sixth player in program history to reach the 2,000-receving yard milestone.

Penn doubled its lead early in the fourth when O'Brien found Richardson for a screen pass and the senior went down the right sideline for a 76-yard score to make it 35-21. O'Brien was 17 of 26 for 272 yards with two interceptions for Penn (4-1, 2-0 Ivy). He also carried it 15 times for 81 yards. Bisi Owens added seven catches for 79 yards and a score. Columbia (1-4, 0-2) was led by Caleb Sanchez's 311 yards passing and two touchdowns. Michael Walters rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown. Liam O'Brien threw two touchdown passes to Jared Richardson and also ran for a score to lead Pennsylvania to a 28-9 victory over Marist on Friday night. Samer Layous kicked a career-long 43-yard field goal at the end of Marist's first possession for a 3-0 lead. The 11-play, 51-yard drive took 7:05 off the clock. Pennsylvania (3-1) answered when O'Brien connected with Richardson for a 21-yard touchdown and a 7-3 lead with 4:52 left in the first quarter. O'Brien completed 4 of 5 passes on the drive to give the Quakers the lead for good. Cole Olstyn pounced on an errant lateral to Irene Ngabonziza to give the Quakers the ball on their 43-yard line. O'Brien hit Davis Ellis for a 23-yard gain on third-and-5 and then scored on a 21-yard run two plays later for a 14-3 advantage with 5:49 left in the second quarter.

After a scoreless third quarter, O'Brien connected with Richardson for an 11-yard touchdown and a 21-3 lead with 11:45 left to play. Julien Stokes capped the scoring on a 1-yard plunge with 3:03 remaining. O'Brien completed 26 of 40 passes for 335 yards. Richardson finished with 15 receptions for 190 yards. True freshman Will O'Dell made his first start and completed 14 of 22 passes for 118 yards for Marist (3-3). He also carried nine times for a team-high 53 yards. He ran back a 65-yard punt return midway through the fourth quarter that gave Penn a short field, allowing it to put the game out of reach. Stokes also had three kick returns for 76 yards, which included a 34-yarder that also led to points. He finished with 141 total return yards and has 100+ total return yards in three consecutive games.

Stokes is the nation's leader (FCS and FBS) in all-purpose yards per game (195.0) by a very healthy margin and has nine kick returns for 269 yards and five punt returns for 147 yards and a TD, totaling 416 total yards. SEPT 22 IVY LEAGUE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Julien Stokes, Penn,...For the second consecutive week, senior return specialist Julien Stokes had himself a heck of an afternoon on special teams for the University of Pennsylvania football team and earned himself Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season, announced by the Ivy League office on Monday afternoon. He's just the 11th player in program history to earn an Ivy weekly award in back-to-back weeks and the first on special teams.

At Lehigh on Saturday, Stokes returned four kicks for 133 yards, including a 60-yarder that set up a go-ahead touchdown early in the third quarter. He now has six kick returns for 193 yards to begin the 2025 season to go along with his four punt returns for 82 yards and a score. The Newbury Park, Calif. native enters the third week of the regular season quite literally the best (statistically) return specialist in NCAA FCS football, ranking first in both punt returns (20.5 yards per attempt) and all-purpose yards (206.5). Additionally, Stokes ranks eighth in kickoff return yards per attempt (32.2). - Penn Football

Aidan Sayin threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Trey Flowers with five seconds remaining and Pennsylvania edged Princeton 20-19 on Saturday. Penn (8-2, 5-2) and Princeton (8-2, 5-2) each entered trailing Yale (8-2, 6-1), which beat Harvard on Saturday for the Ivy League title. Sayin's game-winning throw capped a 17-play, 72-yard drive. Sayin also ended a long drive with a 2-yard scoring toss to Julien Stokes that pulled the Quakers to 19-14 with 10:37 to play. Sayin was 38-of-47 passing for 261 yards. Blake Stenstrom threw for 252 yards and a touchdown for Princeton. Francesco Barone returned a blocked punt into the end zone for Penn's only points in the first half.
