  11/07/21 - Anthony Brown Jr.rSr/2022, Oregon, 6-1, 217 (DS#18 QB) + More +

By the time the final seconds ticked away, most of the purple had vacated, leaving Oregon to once again dance around the field and celebrate in the stands of arguably its most-heated rival. On a windy, rainy night the seventh-ranked Ducks showed a bit more "prowess" - the word of the week in this rivalry - than Washington. "Proud of the way our guys came out and showed our prowess in handling inclement weather," Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said. "We continued to play hard throughout the entire game making sure every critical situation our team responded really well." Travis Dye rushed for a career-high 211 yards and a touchdown, Anthony Brown ran for a score and passed for another and Oregon overcame a sluggish start to beat Washington 26-16 on Saturday night.

A year after the border rivals didn't play due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Huskies program, the Ducks (8-1, 5-1 Pac-12) fell behind early before running off 21 consecutive points and beat Washington for the seventh time in the past eight games played in Seattle. "The W means everything to me. The performance is just a plus," Dye said. Brown threw a 31-yard TD pass to Devon Williams late in the first half to take a 10-9 lead at the break and scored on a 2-yard run early in the third quarter. Dye capped the scoring streak when he rumbled 19 yards for a score on the first play of the fourth quarter to give the Ducks a 24-9 lead. Dye's rushing performance was the most yards rushing by an Oregon running back against Washington since Jonathan Stewart went for 251 yards in 2007. Oregon had 215 yards rushing and averaged 6.9 yards per carry in the second half. - Oregon/AP College Football

  10/31/21 - Bo NixrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-2, 214 (DS#6 QB) + More +

Bo Nix passed for 276 yards and a touchdown and ran for two more scores and No. 18 Auburn's defense made a number of big stops in a 31-20 victory over 10th-ranked Mississippi on Saturday night. The Tigers (6-2, 4-1 Southeastern Conference) remained the top challenger to No. 3 Alabama in the Western Division with Nix winning a quarterback duel with Heisman candidate Matt Corral. The Rebels (6-2, 3-2) had their three-game winning streak end after squandering four second-half scoring chances, three with failed fourth down passes inside the 20.

Plus Jaylin Simpson intercepted a pass in the end zone - only Corral's second this season - midway through the fourth. "That's points. They're not going to take points on special teams," Auburn coach Bryan Harsin said. "They're going to go for it and we get the ball back. You kind of think of that as a turnover. "Those were critical moments in the game that we were able to win." Nix completed 22 of 30 passes and ran for 30 yards. Tank Bigsby ran for 140 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers. "Bo made a lot of plays for them, especially early on," Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin said. "I thought our defense after struggling early played especially well, gave us a bunch of chances offensively to win. "That's four times in the red zone with no points. That's going to be hard to win." Corral had his 19-game streak with a touchdown pass end with a 21-of-37, 289-yard performance. He did run for a score, returning after getting carted to the locker room with an injury to his left ankle, previously hurt against Tennessee. - Auburn/AP College Football

  10/31/21 - Bucky IrvingJr/2024, Oregon, 5-09, 192 (DS#10 RB) + More +

Mar'Keise Irving ran for two touchdowns and a career-high 110 yards and Justin Walley scooped up a fumble and ran 25 yards for a score as Minnesota defeated Northwestern 41-14 Saturday. Tanner Morgan threw for 134 yards and ran for a touchdown and Ky Thomas added 106 yards on 21 carries as Minnesota (6-2, 4-1 Big Ten) improved to 3-0 on the road. Already thin at running back with season-ending injuries to Mohamed Ibrahim and Trey Potts, Minnesota's Bryce Williams suffered a lower leg injury, putting pressure on Irving, a freshman, and Thomas, a redshirt freshman. Williams' status is unknown as he undergoes tests. "Everybody knows we're going to run the football. I don't think that is a secret. I don't think we're catching anyone off guard by that," Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck said.

Thomas was banged up early in the game but returned. The Gophers' depth chart has taken so much of a hit that Fleck experimented with linebacker Derik LeCaptain at running back. LeCaptain had a 24-yard run for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. "Bryce went down today, Ky was done for a while and we were down to Bucko (Irving) and we had Derik (LeCaptain) on deck. Again, those are the cards we're dealt," Fleck said. Before it could get its offense untracked Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald pulled starter Ryan Hilinski. Andrew Marty finished 10 of 16 for the Wildcats (3-5, 1-4) and threw a pair of touchdown passes. Fitzgerald would not name a starter going forward. - Minnesota/AP College Football

  10/31/21 - Anthony Brown Jr.rSr/2022, Oregon, 6-1, 217 (DS#18 QB) + More +

Over the course of three weeks it's been coming together for Oregon quarterback Anthony Brown Jr. Brown threw for a career-high 307 yards and three touchdowns and No. 7 Oregon had a season-high 568 yards of offense in a 52-29 victory over Colorado on Saturday. Travis Dye ran for two touchdowns and caught a scoring pass to help Oregon (7-1, 6-1 Pac-12) extend its winning streak at Autzen Stadium to 17 games. "Efficiency, consistency and just making the right reads all around the board," Brown said about his progress. "And it came from a lot of things, but just staying in the groove and continuing to do what I do throughout the week, continuing my my process, watching extra film and doing extra things and just continuing that." Brendon Lewis threw for 224 yards and three TDs for the Buffaloes (2-5, 1-4). Brenden Rice, the son of former San Francisco 49ers great Jerry Rice, had 102 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Although he was met by some boos from the home crowd early against Cal on Oct. 15, Brown shook off the critics and rallied Oregon with two straight touchdowns in the fourth quarter for a 24-17 victory. The final touchdown was Brown's 11-yard keeper. Brown did it again last weekend in a 34-31 victory at UCLA with a 43-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown run that ultimately kept the game out of reach for the Bruins. He finished with 296 yards passing and 85 yards rushing. "The supporting cast continues to elevate their play, which, in turn, as Anthony continues to elevate his play, his attention to detail, his accuracy, his decision making - all those things cumulatively add up the better play as an offense," Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said. - Oregon/AP College Football

  10/16/21 - Evan WilliamsrSr/2024, Oregon, 5-11, 200 (DS#6 SS) + More +

Evan Williams made two of Fresno State's four interceptions and Wyoming turned the ball over five times as the Bulldogs blanked Wyoming 17-0 on Saturday. Wyoming (4-2, 0-2 Mountain West Conference) was shut out for the first time since being blanked 45-0 by TCU in 2010. The shutout was the second for the Bulldogs (4-3, 1-2) this year, having beaten UConn 45-0 in their season opener, but the first on the road since Nov. 2, 1974, 41-0 over Cal State Northridge. The Bulldogs were slightly outgained by the Cowboys but scored all their points off turnovers, the three scoring drives covering a total of only 50 yards.

The longest of the scoring drives - 41 yards - came after Sean Chambers fumbled on a keeper which led to Jake Haener's 2-yard TD toss to Juan Rodriguez for the only points of the first half. Malachi Langley picked off a tipped pass and returned it 33 yards to the Wyoming 6 and three plays later Haener threw a 3-yard TD pass to Jalen Cropper late in the third quarter. Williams returned another Chambers interception 14 yards to the Cowboys 27 with Cesar Silva kicking a 41-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Fresno State bounced back from a 27-24 loss in its previous game at Hawaii on Oct. 2 that dropped the Bulldogs from the Associated Press Top 25. Chambers threw three of the interceptions along with his lost fumble. - Fresno State/AP College Football

  10/16/21 - Bo NixrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-2, 214 (DS#6 QB) + More +

Three plays were all it took for Auburn. Strip-sack score. Fourth-down stop. Long touchdown pass. The Tigers turned a three-point deficit into an 11-point lead in the span of 3:03 and staved off Arkansas' attempted comeback to upset the No. 17 Razorbacks 38-23 on Saturday. Auburn's Derick Hall sacked and stripped KJ Jefferson in the Arkansas end zone and teammate Marcus Harris pounced on the fumble to give the Tigers a 21-17 lead early in the third quarter. On the ensuing drive, Jefferson marched the Razorbacks 45 yards, but on fourth-and-3 from the Auburn 30, he gained just a yard on a keeper.

One play later, Bo Nix found Demetris Robertson over the top for a 71-yard touchdown for Auburn. "It was huge. Obviously the play of the game. Those back-to-back were important," Nix said. "That just carried us on throughout the game into the fourth quarter when we got a chance to run the ball." Nix, less than a month after being benched in a 10-point win over Georgia State, had his best game of the season. He went 21 for 26 for 292 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He also ran for another 42 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown with 2:30 left that provided the game's final score. Jefferson did what he could to keep Arkansas around, throwing for 228 yards and two touchdowns and running for another 66 yards. Arkansas outgained Auburn 460 yards to 427. The Razorbacks had more first downs, a better third-down conversion rate and fewer penalties. But Auburn's big plays made the difference. - Auburn/AP College Football

  10/16/21 - Anthony Brown Jr.rSr/2022, Oregon, 6-1, 217 (DS#18 QB) + More +

Quarterback Anthony Brown shut out the noise to lead Oregon to a fourth-quarter comeback, then let the defense seal a victory over California. Brown scored on an 11-yard keeper with 4:50 left and the ninth-ranked Ducks held off surprisingly tenacious Cal 24-17 on Friday night. The Golden Bears took a 17-10 lead early in the final quarter, but Brown answered with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jaylon Redd to tie it. The Ducks (5-1, 2-1 Pac-12) pulled in front on Brown's scamper into the end zone. Cal threatened on the ensuing possession. The Golden Bears got to the Oregon 3 after Chase Garbers' fourth-down pass to Kekoa Crawford preserved the drive, but his fourth-and-2 attempt with just 2 seconds left fell incomplete.

Oregon was coming off a bye following an overtime loss at Stanford. The rebound win was the Ducks' 16th straight victory at Autzen Stadium. Travis Dye ran for 145 yards and a score as Oregon leaned on him in the absence of CJ Verdell, who was injured against Stanford and is out for the season. Brown threw for 244 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 44 yards and another score. But he faced boos from the Autzen crowd earlier in the game as Oregon's offense sputtered. "He's a great leader, he's willing to step up in those big moments and he's not afraid to shy away from those moments. He shows that time and time again," said offensive lineman Ryan Walk. "We saw that tonight, when the going was getting tough there he stepped up, grabbed the offense, he said, `We're going to get this thing right, let's get it going." - Oregon/AP College Football

  10/03/21 - Bo NixrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-2, 214 (DS#6 QB) + More +

Bo Nix passed for a touchdown and ran for a score and Jarquez Hunter scored on a 1-yard run with 3:11 to give No. 22 Auburn its first lead and a 24-19 victory over LSU on Saturday night. Auburn (4-1, 1-0 Southeastern Conference), which had not won at LSU's Tiger Stadium since 1999, secured the victory when Bydarrius Knighten intercepted Max Johnson's pass on fourth down at the Auburn 39 with 1:09 left. Nix frustrated LSU (3-2, 1-1) with his feet whether he was scrambling or running by design. His 5-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, capped a series in which he ran on three of the final four plays for 23 yards. The touchdown pulled Auburn to 19-17 early in the fourth quarter, and that score stood until Nix led a 92-yard, 11-play, winning drive highlighted by Hunter's 44-yard run on a pitch to the left side.

Ducking under tacklers or spinning away from them, Nix also converted several extended scrambles behind the line of scrimmage into pivotal completions. The most unlikely such play - arguably one of the highlights in all of college football on the day - saw Nix spin away from multiple pass rushers, traverse more than half the width of the field and rifle a fourth-down touchdown strike to Tyler Fromm moments before he was engulfed by defenders along left sideline. The play cut LSU's lead to 13-7 in the second quarter. Shortly before the half ended, Nix threw for first down during another fourth-down scramble, setting up a field goal that made it 13-10. Nix finished 23 of 44 for 255 yards without a turnover. He also rushed for 74 yards. - Auburn/AP College Football

Anthony Brown threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 3 Oregon handed Arizona its 16th straight loss with a 41-19 victory on Saturday night. Oregon (4-0, 1-0 Pac-12) extended its winning streak at Autzen Stadium to 15 games. The Ducks are the lone undefeated team left in the Pac-12. Despite being winless this season, the Wildcats (0-4, 0-1) closed to within 24-19 late in the third quarter on Drake Anderson's 1-yard touchdown run.

Oregon extended its lead with Camden Lewis' 43-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, then added Brown's 18-yard scoring pass to Spencer Webb to make it 34-19 with 8:26 left. The Ducks put it away on Bennett Williams' 68-yard interception return for a touchdown on Arizona's ensuing series. The Ducks got off to a quick start, with Brown's pass to Jaylon Redd for a 63-yard touchdown just more than a minute into the game. Then Oregon intercepted Arizona starter Jordan McCloud on the Wildcats' first series. - Oregon/AP College Football
