Ohio State running back Miyan Williams is a junior and eligible to go to the NFL, but he'd unlikely to be a high draft pick. He and TreVeyon Henderson could be a formidable duo if they can stay healthy. It's always possible that one could transfer if unhappy with sharing the workload. Dallan Hayden proved capable of handling a significant role. The Buckeyes also should get a boost from the return of Evan Pryor from an ACL injury. He's particularly a threat as a pass-catcher. - Columbus Dispatch

2022 BIG TEN RICHTER-HOWARD RECEIVER OF THE YEAR: Marvin Harrison, Ohio State,...Ohio State sophomore wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was today named the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year in the Big Ten Conference. Harrison Jr. is the first Buckeye to win the top receiver award in the Big Ten. The sophomore from Philadelphia and St. Joseph's Prep has had a spectacular year of route running, blocking, terrific catches and big catches, and he is one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award. He is the only Biletnikoff finalist with a teammate that also has at least 1,000 receiving yards. He is also the only finalist who has a teammate with at least nine TD receptions and at least 65 additional catches, such as what classmate Emeka Egbuka has produced. - Ohio State Football

2022 BIG TEN GRAHAM-GEORGE OFFENSIVE PLAYER AND GRIESE-BREES QUARTERBACK OF THE YEAR: C.J. Stroud, Ohio State,...Stroud finished the regular season as the nation's leader in efficiency rating (176.25) and co-leader in touchdown passes (37). He completed 235-of-355 passes for 3,340 yards and threw three-or-more TDs in six games. In the Big Ten, he had 15 more touchdown passes than the next closest player and his efficiency rating was 23 points better than anyone else. A finalist for the Davey O'Brien Quarterback of the Year Award and the Maxwell Award, Stroud was a three-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and had five 300-yard games this season. His play helped Ohio State have the nation's No. 2 scoring offense (44.5 points/game), No. 6 total offense (492.7 yards/game) and No. 15 passing attack (294.2 yards/game). Stroud guided the Buckeyes to 67 offensive touchdowns, which was second only to Tennessee nationally. Stroud is 21-3 as a starter with 7,775 passing yards and 81 touchdowns against just 12 interceptions. He's the first quarterback in Big Ten history to have back-to-back seasons with 30 or more touchdowns. - Ohio State Football

Ohio State was No. 5 Tuesday night in the second-to-last College Football Playoff rankings, positioned to possibly take advantage if one of the top four slips up on championship weekend. Georgia (12-0) was No. 1 again. No. 2 Michigan (12-0) and No. 3 TCU (12-0) both moved up a spot and Southern California (11-1) climbed two spots into the fourth slot. The Buckeyes (11-1) dropped three spots after losing 45-23 to the rival Wolverines on Saturday at home.

Alabama (10-2) moved up a spot to No. 6 and was followed by Southeastern Conference rival Tennessee, which beat the Crimson Tide in October. All play in their conference championships game this weekend. The undefeated teams might not need to win this weekend to lock up a spot. Georgia plays LSU (9-3) in the SEC title game. Michigan plays Purdue (8-4) for the Big Ten championship. TCU faces Kansas State, which is 10th in the latest rankings and has already lost to the surprising Horned Frogs. USC and Heisman Trophy frontrunner Caleb Williams face Utah, No. 11 in the rankings, on Friday night in Las Vegas for the Pac-12 championship. If the Trojans slip up, that could give Ohio State a second chance. - AP College Football

One of the greatest rivalries in sports seems set up for another classic. No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Michigan will both be undefeated for the 20th time when they meet Saturday at the Horseshoe in what's known as The Game. The winner will earn a trip to the Big Ten championship game and a probable spot in the College Football Playoff. "This is what we've been striving for all year, 11-0, and now to play The Game," Michigan receiver Ronnie Bell said. "That's all we wanted." The Wolverines are coming off a rare win in the series. Until Jim Harbaugh finally beat the Buckyes last year at home, they had won a school-record eight straight and 15 of 16 against Michigan.

What has it been like for coach Ryan Day to have a whole year to think about that loss to the Wolverines? "That has not been easy, hasn't been good," Day said. "We’ll probably talk about it more this week, but looking forward to the preparation. Our guys have been focused on it all offseason. And during the season, it’s always been in the back of our minds. "We work it every day of the year. And so, the week is officially here.” The Buckeyes have been waiting for two years to beat their rivals at home, missing out on the last opportunity in 2020 during the pandemic-shortened season when the matchup was canceled because of a COVID-19 outbreak within the Wolverines' program. Michigan has not won at Ohio State since 2000, which is also the last year it won a second straight game in the series. The Buckeyes have not lost a game since Hassan Haskins matched a school record with five rushing touchdowns and Aidan Hutchinson had three sacks in last year's win for Michigan. - AP College Football

Will Howard threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score, Cincere Mason returned an interception for a TD and No. 19 Kansas State moved closer to a berth in the Big 12 championship game by beating West Virginia 48-31 on Saturday. Kansas State (8-3, 6-2 Big 12, No. 15 CFP) can clinch a title game spot alongside No. 4 TCU on Dec. 3 with a win in its regular season finale at home against Kansas. West Virginia (4-7, 2-6) failed to become bowl eligible for the second time under fourth-year coach Neal Brown and for only the fourth time since 2000. Both team's quarterbacks played well in a battle among backups. Howard, starting in place of the injured Adrian Martinez, completed 19 of 27 passes for 294 yards. West Virginia's Garrett Greene got the nod ahead of JT Daniels after Greene's solid play in the second half of a win over Oklahoma a week ago. Greene threw three TD passes to Sam James and finished 15 of 27 passes for 204 yards.

He was intercepted twice. Greene also scored on a 13-yard run. Kansas State led 28-19 after the first quarter. Mason's 37-yard interception return put the Wildcats up 14-0 a little more than 3 minutes into the game. Later in the quarter, West Virginia's Malachi Ruffin returned an interception 43 yards for a score. But West Virginia couldn't mount a comeback. By halftime, Kansas State had 312 total yards and led 41-25. It was the highest scoring first half by the Wildcats since scoring 45 against Montana State in 2008, and the most allowed by West Virginia since allowing 56 to Baylor in 2013. The offenses slowed down considerably after halftime. West Virginia ate up nearly nine minutes of clock time on its opening possession of the third quarter, but Casey Legg's 44-yard field goal try fell short, his first miss in 14 attempts this season. He also missed two earlier extra-point kicks. Howard threw a 43-yard TD toss to Malik Knowles in the fourth quarter. He also had a 15-yard scoring pass to Ben Sinnott in the second. - Kansas State/AP College Football

Ohio State has been at or near the top of the national scoring chart seven years in a row, and the Buckeyes have been especially prolific at home. Their 56-14 win over Indiana on Saturday made them the first Big Ten team since the 1903 Michigan Wolverines to score at least 45 points in six straight home games in the same season, according to Elias Sports Bureau. The Buckeyes' streak started after they managed just 21 against Notre Dame in the opener. They set a national season high with 77 against Toledo two weeks later. Ohio State is scoring 50.6 points per home game this season, and it's averaging a Bowl Subdivision-high 48.4 points over 45 games at Ohio Stadium since 2016, according to Sportradar. Tennessee is the 2022 season leader in home scoring, at 55.3 points per game. - AP College Football

Will Howard threw for three touchdowns after Adrian Martinez exited with an injury, and No. 23 Kansas State buoyed its Big 12 title hopes with a 31-3 rout of Baylor on Saturday night. The defending conference champion Bears (6-4, 4-3 Big 12) will need help to get back to the championship game after a three-game winning streak had put them back in contention. The Wildcats (7-3, 5-2) went into the game in a three-way tie for second place in the Big 12 with Baylor and No. 18 Texas, which played undefeated and fourth-ranked TCU later. Howard came on after Martinez appeared to injure his lower body getting a first down on a quarterback sneak in the first quarter. The junior who threw four TD passes in a 48-0 victory over then-No. 9 Oklahoma State two weeks ago put the Wildcats ahead 7-0 on the same drive with a 15-yard scoring pass to Ben Sinnott. - Kansas State/AP College Football

Miyan Williams rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown before leaving with an injury late in the first half, C.J Stroud threw five TD passes and No. 2 Ohio State buried Indiana 56-14 on Saturday. Williams went down awkwardly on his right ankle and had to be helped to a cart and taken to the locker room with 2:17 left in the half. That came after the Buckeyes had pushed the score to 28-7 on Williams' 48-yard scoring run. Williams has carried the load of the Ohio State running game the last two games with TreVeyon Williams out with injury. Ohio State hasn't disclosed a timetable for Henderson's return but could certainly run into some difficulty if both experienced backs are still on the shelf for the showdown with No. 3 Michigan in two weeks.

Freshman Dallen Hayden moved up to be the No. 1 back, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Xavier Johnson lined up as a back and ran for a 71-yard TD in the fourth quarter. The Buckeyes (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten, No. 2 CFP) had piled up 377 yards by the time Williams left the game and seemed to be back on track after struggling to beat Northwestern on a windy day the previous week. They finished with 662. Stroud, who passed for a season-low 76 yards against Northwestern, was 17 for 28 for 297 yards against the Hoosiers (3-7, 1-6), throwing two touchdown passes to tight end Cade Stover and one each to Emeka Egbuka, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Kamryn Babb. Indiana's starting quarterback Connor Bazelak, who returned after sitting out last week's loss to Penn State with an injury, didn't last long. After the Hoosiers went three-and-out on their first three possessions, Bazelak was benched in favor of Dexter Williams II, who threw for two touchdowns, their only scores of the day. - Ohio State/AP College Football

Ohio State running back Miyan Williams injured his right leg and had to be carted the locker room in the first half of Saturday's game against Indiana. Williams already had rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown when he went down awkwardly on his ankle after a 4-yard gain with 2:17 left in the first half and the No. 2 Buckeyes leading Indiana 28-7. Williams has carried the load the last two games with TreVeyon Henderson sidelined with an injury. Ohio State hasn't disclosed details of Henderson's injury, but it could be problematic if both experienced backs are on the shelf for the matchup with No. 3 Michigan in two weeks. Williams broke away for a 48-yard touchdown run earlier in the second quarter, recording his fourth 100-yard game of the season. True freshman Dallen Hayden, who also had a first-half touchdown run, is the primary backup to Williams. - AP College Football

OCT 31 BIG 12 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Will Howard, K-State, QB, Jr.,...In a game-time decision to start after being injured the previous week, Howard tied the school record with four touchdown passes in No. 22 K-State's 48-0 win over No. 9 Oklahoma State. The junior was 21-of-37 for 296 passing yards with no interceptions. His completions and passing yards were both career highs. Howard is the third QB in school history to throw four TD passes in a half as he led the Wildcats to their second win this season over a Top 10 team. - Big 12 Football

Miyan Williams ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and No. 2 Ohio State got all it could handle from Northwestern in a 21-7 victory on a rainy and windy Saturday. The Buckeyes (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten, No. 2 CFP) came in tied with Tennessee in the AP poll and trailing only the Volunteers in the season's first College Football Playoff rankings. But what figured to be an easy win turned into a struggle. Ohio State didn't score until the closing minutes of the first half, when Emeka Egbuka ran it in from the 15, with the rain and whipping wind not to mention Northwestern's physical play creating havoc. Williams gave Ohio State the lead with a 27-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He made it 21-7 when he scored from the 2 with about 4 1/2 minutes remaining in the game after C.J. Stroud broke a 44-yard run, and the Buckeyes came away with a tougher-than-expected win.

Stroud, the Big Ten leader in yards passing, set a career low with 76. He completed just 10 of 26 passes in his only game this year without a touchdown throw. Stroud, who came in with minus-4 yards rushing, ran for 79, helping the Buckeyes pick up their 10th straight win against Northwestern and 34th in the past 35 meetings. The Wildcats (1-8, 1-5) dropped their eighth straight, matching their worst skid since the 1998 team lost eight in a row. They are 5-17 since falling to Ohio State in the 2020 conference championship game. Evan Hull ran for 122 yards and a touchdown. Brendan Sullivan threw for 79, completing 10 of 14 passes, and the Wildcats remained winless since beating Nebraska in Ireland to start the season. Ohio State came came in averaging 48.9 points - second only to Tennessee - and hadn't scored fewer than 44 in a Big Ten game. But the ugly conditions and Northwestern's physical play in the trenches made for a tough time. - AP College Football
