  Former UNLV quarterback Armani Rogers signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted rookie free agent Saturday to play tight end. Rogers, a 6-foot-5-inch Los Angeles native, played in parts of three seasons with UNLV after redshirting. He was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2017. Rogers rushed for 1,549 yards and 18 touchdowns and passed for 2,465 yards and 18 TDs with the Rebels before transferring to Ohio. - Las Vegas Review

  UCF reserve quarterback Parker Navarro has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal, according to multiple reports. Navarro was on the outside looking in as it came to UCF's quarterback competition between sophomore Mikey Keene, senior John Rhys Plumlee and true freshman Thomas Castellanos. The redshirt sophomore from Arizona suffered a shoulder injury in the team's second spring scrimmage, which limited him for the remainder of camp. Navarro was photographed Saturday after the spring game with his left arm in a sling. After taking a redshirt his first year at UCF, Navarro appeared in five games at quarterback and on special teams last season. He ran the ball seven times for 54 yards. Navarro finished tied for third on the team with three rushing touchdowns, one each in the final three games of the regular season. A member of UCF's 2020 signing class, Navarro was a three-star prospect coming out of Desert Vista in Phoenix, Arizona. He threw for 2,749 yards and 29 touchdowns with six interceptions as a senior quarterback in 2019. He added 959 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns his senior season. - Orlando Sentinel

He had three interceptions, two pass break ups and one quarterback hurry. Drake snagged two interceptions for 23 return yards on Oct. 9 against Central Michigan. He finished the season with two sacks and one quarterback hurry. Houston set a career-high mark on Oct. 16 at Buffalo, finishing the game with 15 tackles, including 11 solo and four assisted. He was also one of seven co-captains for the 2021 team. In MAC play alone, Houston registered 73 tackles, 39 solo and 34 assisted.   Backup quarterback Armani Rogers ran for 83 yards and two scores and his presence helped jumpstart Ohio in the second half en route to a 34-17 win over Akron on Saturday. De'Montre Tuggle piled up 201 yards rushing on 17 carries and scored a touchdown as the Bobcats (1-4, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) broke a 17-all tie at the end of three quarters with 17 unanswered points in the final stanza. After Stephen Johnson's 26-yard field goal to start the fourth, Rogers ended a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a game clinching 22-yard touchdown run with 6:12 remaining. Tuggle capped the scoring with a 26-yard touchdown run ending an eight play, 59-yard drive with 1:16 left. Ohio outgained Akron (1-4, 0-1) 458-293 in total offense.   The Mid-American Conference released its preseason coaches poll Tuesday morning, and the Bobcats were selected to finish third in the MAC East Division for the second consecutive season. Ohio received two first-place votes and finished with 51 points and also received a vote to win the MAC Championship. Kent State was picked to win the MAC East this season, receiving six first-place votes and 63 points. Miami, who is picked to take second in the East, received 55 points and two first-place votes. The final two votes to win the East went to Buffalo, who totaled 46 points in the poll and is predicted to finish fourth. - The Post

  For the second straight season, a torn anterior cruciate ligament will prematurely end the freshman season of one of Ohio State football's Bullet prospects. Lettermen Row reported Wednesday that freshman defensive back Jaylen Johnson suffered a torn ACL during preseason camp and will miss the 2021 season. Cleveland.com could not immediately confirm the report. Johnson, a three-star prospect from Cincinnati ranked No. 414 in the 247 Sports composite of the 2021 class, was not expected to play many snaps this season. However, he was recruited to potentially develop at the hybrid Bullet position that has taken the place of the Sam linebacker in Ohio State's base defensive package. Ohio was tabbed to finish second in the MAC East Division by a panel of 22 media members fort he 2021 MAC Football Media Preseason Poll. Kent State is the pick to win the MAC East Division, as the Flashes garnered 11 first-place votes and 112 points. Ohio followed with 96 points, gaining a pair of first place votes. In the West Division, Ball State is the pick to win with 11 first-place votes and 114 points. Toledo is second with 104 points, and seven first-place votes.   Vanderbilt football running back Jamauri Wakefield and wide receiver James Bostic have entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Wakefield, a senior, will be a graduate transfer, meaning that he will be eligible immediately for the program that he transfers to. He will have one year left to play. Bostic, who is also entering as a graduate transfer, will have one year of eligibility, with the potential for a redshirt. Wakefield started two games this season.
