From the moment he arrived at Notre Dame, Isaiah Foskey's first-step quickness always stood out. It came as little surprise then on Thursday afternoon when Foskey, the school's all-time leader in sacks, announced he was declaring for the NFL Draft and would skip the Dec. 30 Gator Bowl against No. 19 South Carolina. The move would allow the star pass rusher to get a head start in preparations for the professional level. A fourth-year junior who broke Justin Tuck's career sack record on Senior Day against Boston College, Foskey added 1.5 sacks in his final college outing, a 38-27 loss to USC and Heisman Trophy favorite Caleb Williams.

"He didn't come back just to break the (sack) record," Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman said on Senior Day. "He came back to win a national championship. He didn't win a championship this year, but what he did for this program...to me will be the reason why we do win a national championship." Foskey, 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds, played through nagging injuries this season that saw his defensive snap count drop to an average of 35 in wins over North Carolina and Brigham Young. He had just 3.5 sacks through the season's first half, and for a time it appeared Foskey might fall short of Tuck's record. - South Bend Tribune

Receiver Beaux Collins needs surgery on his injured right shoulder and will not play the rest of the season, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Tuesday. Collins is a 6-foot-3 sophomore who leads the 10th-ranked Tigers with five touchdown catches. He returned Saturday after missing the two previous games because of a separated shoulder and had two catches, including a 59-yard grab that was Clemson's longest completion of the season. Collins reinjured the shoulder against the Gamecocks and came back to the sidelines with his arm in a sling. Clemson lost 31-30 to South Carolina.   2022 BRIAN PICCOLO AWARD WINNER: Wake Forest redshirt junior quarterback Sam Hartman has been named the recipient of the Atlantic Coast Conference's 2022 Brian Piccolo Award, the league announced on Monday. The Piccolo Award has been given annually since 1970 in memory of the late Brian Piccolo to the "most courageous" football player in the ACC. As a standout running back at Wake Forest, Piccolo was the ACC Athlete of the Year in 1965 and played for the Chicago Bears before his career was cut short when he was diagnosed with cancer. His courageous fight against the disease was an inspiration to the Bears and the entire football community.

Hartman had serious doubts in early August that he would ever play football again, let alone be allowed to take the field for the 2022 season. Diagnosed with Paget-Schroetter syndrome (effort thrombosis) - a rare blood clot in the subclavian vein - the Charlotte, North Carolina native was immediately restricted from football-related activities. He underwent a procedure to remove the blood clot and subsequent surgery to eliminate the pressure on the affected vein. With a rehab effort led by Dr. Julie A. Freischlag, a renowned vascular surgeon and one of the world's leading experts in Paget-Schroetter syndrome, Hartman defied all odds by returning to the practice field in less than a month. Freischlag, the CEO/Chief Academic Officer of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Dean of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, teamed with Dr. Matthew Goldman, Niles Fleet and the entire Wake medical sports and performance staff to enhance Hartman's remarkable recovery. - ACC Football

Notre Dame first-year cornerback Benjamin Morrison has all five of his interceptions in November after picking off three passes against Boston College. Morrison's first two came in the opening quarter and this third in the third quarter. The previous Notre Dame player with three picks in a game was Harrison Smith against Miami in the 2010 Sun Bowl.   Sam Hartman threw four touchdown passes in the final home game of a record-setting career in Wake Forest's 45-35 win over Syracuse on Saturday night. Three of those scoring strikes went to A.T. Perry and the Demon Deacons snapped a three-game losing streak. After trailing 21-10, the Demon Deacons (7-4, 3-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) rattled off the next 35 points. The scoring spree was punctuated by Brendon Harris' 36-yard interception return for a touchdown. Hartman was 30-for-43 for 331 yards. With 104 career touchdown throws, he's three away from former Clemson quarterback Tahj Boyd's ACC record of 107. Syracuse (6-5, 3-4) has lost five games in a row since a torrid start that put the Orange in the national rankings. Sean Tucker ran for two touchdowns and 106 yards on 16 carries and LeQuint Allen threw for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass. Garrett Shrader was 17 of 31 for 324 yards, a touchdown and an interception, Hartman connected with Perry for three first-half touchdown plays, including a 10-yarder to take the lead 12 seconds before the break.

Perry, who caught 10 balls for 119 yards, became the all-time Wake Forest leader for touchdown receptions with 27. The sequence late in the first half marked a rapid turnaround. Two sacks pushed Syracuse from inside the 10-yard line and resulted in a long field goal attempt falling short. Wake Forest responded for the go-ahead touchdown and never trailed again. Tucker had a 9-yard scoring run for the game's first points and added a go-ahead 2-yard run in the second quarter. Hartman's 12-yard pass to Perry in the back corner of the end zone gave Wake Forest its first touchdown. Syracuse used a trick play when Allen, a running back threw a 33-yard pass to Devaughn Cooper as the Orange built a 21-10 lead. Tucker eclipsed the 3,000-yard rushing mark for his career. - Wake Forest/AP College Football

Cornerback Benjamin Morrison had three interceptions, the Notre Dame defense forced two fumbles and the No. 18 Fighting Irish scored on their first eight possessions to beat Boston College 44-0 on Saturday. The Fighting Irish (8-3) won their ninth straight against Boston College (3-8), the only other Catholic university playing in the FBS. Notre Dame also extended its regular-season winning streak against Atlantic Coast Conference teams to 28 games. The temperature at game time was 27 degrees, making it the coldest game at Notre Dame in nine years, and heavy snow fell through much of the third quarter. Notre Dame dominated from the start, with Logan Diggs breaking through the line untouched for 51 yards before being tackled at the BC 24-yard line. The Irish settled for a 26-yard field goal by Blake Grupe. On the next possession, Diggs scored on a 1-yard run, Drew Pyne threw a 1-yard TD pass to Matt Salerno and the rout was on. A little more than four minutes into the game, Notre Dame had more points than Boston College had total yards - 17-7. Notre Dame had an 11:42 to 3:18 advantage in time of possession and only needed to make five tackles in the first quarter.

The Eagles threatened to score after Emmett Morehead completed his first pass, 39 yards to Zay Flowers at the Notre Dame 25. But Morehead's next pass to Joe Griffin was intercepted by Morrison in the end zone. Morrison, who had two key interceptions two weeks ago in a win over Clemson, also intercepted Morehead at the BC 20-yard line on the Eagles' first possession and at the BC 47-yard field goal on the Eagles' first possession of the second half. The Irish had a 336-81 yards advantage in total yards in the first half and 214-1 yards in rushing offense to open a 37-0 halftime lead. For the game, the Irish had a 437-173 advantage in total yards. It was the fifth straight game the Fighting Irish have scored at least 35 points. The only other time that's happened was the first five games in 1943, when the Irish won a national championship with a record of 9-1. The 44-point margin of victory was the second largest in the series; the Irish beat the Eagles 54-7 in 1992. - Notre Dame/AP College Football

Riley Leonard threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another as the Duke Blue Devils won their third straight game, topping Virginia Tech 24-7 on Saturday afternoon. Leonard completed 19-of-31 passes for 262 yards and also carried the ball nine times for 48 yards. Jalon Calhoun was Leonard's favorite target, as he hauled in five catches for 94 yards for the Blue Devils (7-3, 4-2 ACC). Grant Wells led the Hokies (2-8, 1-6 ACC) with 177 passing yards and one touchdown.

After Duke opened with a three-and-out, Virginia Tech took the lead on its second offensive play of the game when Wells connected with Da'Wain Lofton on a 53-yard scoring strike. It was the second longest touchdown pass of the year for the Hokies. Then - beginning with a 25-yard field goal from Todd Pelino - the Blue Devils scored 24-straight unanswered points, grabbing the lead and never letting go. The scoring run was highlighted by Jontavis Robertson hauling in a 6-yard pass from Leonard for the junior wideout's first career touchdown. - Duke/AP College Football
