(Raytown High/Iowa),...Hutson may have only caught two passes for the Panthers' in their 37-36 win over No. 20 Southern Illinois, but both receptions played a critical role in UNI's late comeback win on Saturday in Carbondale. Hutson caught 2 of QB Theo Day's career-high 5 touchdown passes, including the game-winning score with 5:55 to play to give the Panthers a one-point lead.   OCT 31 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: QB Theo Day, UNI - Day recorded a highlight reel performance with a career-high 5 passing touchdowns and 330 passing yards in UNI's thrilling 37-36 win at No. 20 Southern Illinois. Day is the first UNI quarterback to throw 5 touchdowns in a single game since at least 2005, one shy of tying the program's all-time single game record. The Canton, Mich. native connected with 4 different receivers on his 5 scoring opportunities, including the ultimate game-winning score on a 5-yard pass to Desmond Hutson with just under 6 minutes to play. The 330-yard passing performance is his third of the season and fourth of his career.   Theo Day threw five touchdown passes and Northern Iowa held off Southern Illinois 37-36 on Saturday. Day's fifth TD throw - 5 yards to Desmond Hutson - ended the scoring with 5:55 remaining in the fourth quarter. Jake Baumgarte missed a 41-yard field goal for Southern Illinois with 47 seconds remaining. The Salukis got the ball back and left the ball at the UNI 1-yard line after a 42-yard desperation pass from Nic Baker to Jathen Jones.

The teams combined for 1,001 yards of total offense, 815 passing. Day was 27-of-32 passing for 330 yards and Baker threw for 485 yards, completing 34 of 48 passes including three touchdowns. Sam Schnee had eight receptions for 96 yards for Northern Iowa (5-4, 4-2 Missouri Valley Football Conference) and Hutson caught two passes, both for short touchdowns.   OCT 24 MISSOURI VALLEY CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: RB Dom Williams, UNI, 5-10, 200, R-Sr., McKinney, Texas (Independence HS),...Williams notched a record-breaking performance for UNI against Missouri State tying the program's single game record with four rushing touchdowns. Williams is the tenth player in UNI history to run for four touchdowns, and first since Aaron Bailey to do so in 2015, also against Missouri State. Aided by dominant offensive line play, Williams notched his second game of 100+ rushing yards this season and fourth of his career. Williams leads the MVFC in rushing touchdowns this season (9) and ninth in the nation while averaging 6.1 yards per carry. - Missouri Valley Football

  OCT 24 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: DL Cordarrius Bailey, UNI - Bailey made his biggest impact as a Panther with a pair of sacks and a forced fumble in UNI's 41-20 win over Missouri State. The former Iowa State defensive lineman's hit and forced fumble of MSU quarterback Jason Shelley was the first of his career. Bailey also recorded his first two career sacks in Saturday's win that saw the Panther defense notch a season-high 5 sacks, and hold one of MVFC's top offenses to just 221 total yards. With Bailey, UNI was also able to hold the Bears to 37.5% on third down, a season-low against MVFC opponents. - Missouri Valley Football

  Dom Williams ran for 101 yards and a career-high four touchdowns on 17 carries to help Northern Iowa beat Missouri State 41-20 Saturday night. Williams scored on a 9-yard run less than a minute into the game and his 1-yard touchdown gave Northern Iowa (4-4, 3-2 Missouri Valley) a 14-0 lead with 6:40 left in the first quarter. Williams added a 2-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter and his 10-yard scoring run on the first play of the fourth quarter made it 38-14. Jason Shelley completed 16 of 22 passes for 151 yards with a touchdown and an interceptions for Missouri State (2-5, 0-4). Jacardia Wright scored on a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter. Cook's field goals now give him sole possession of 3rd place in school history in career field goals made (61), passing Brian Wingert (2003-06). He also broke a tie with Wingert and Mack Hoambrecker (2000-02) for career field goal attempts (77). Cook is now 4 made field goals away from setting UNI's program record as well as the MVFC's all-time mark. Day threw for three touchdowns plus one rushing score, highlighted by a 70-yard touchdown pass in the 2nd quarter to Sam Schnee, the 2nd longest pass competition of his career. With 308 yards in the air, Day notched his 2nd career game of 300+ passing yards.   Theo Day threw three touchdown passes, ran for another score, and Northern Iowa racked up 548 yards on offense in a 42-14 victory over Utah Tech on Saturday. The Panthers (3-4) struck early, with Day's 44-yard touchdown pass to Sergio Morancy coming on their first possession. Day threw second-quarter TD passes of 32 yards to Desmond Hutson and 70 yards to Sam Schnee for a 34-7 halftime lead. Day's 1-yard run early in the third quarter was UNI's final score of the game. Day completed 13 of 23 passes for 308 yards, an average of 23.7 yards per completion. Dom Williams had 92 yards rushing on 12 carries and the Panthers had 229 yards on the ground. Boone Abbott completed 12 of 22 passes for 162 yards with touchdowns of 11 yards to Joey Hobert and 30 yards to Rickie Johnson. Abbott was intercepted twice.   SEPT 26 MISSOURI VALLEY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: DB Woo Governor, UNI, 6-0, 190, So., (Plant City, Fla./Central Michigan),...Governor made program history in UNI's 52-17 rout of Western Illinois with two interceptions returned for touchdowns, totaling 97 return yards. His first came during WIU's second drive of the third quarter, returning a deflected pass off teammate Bryce Flater for a 43-yard score. The very next drive, Governor returned his second interception 49 yards for six points. Saturday marked the first time the Panthers recorded two pick-sixes in a game since 2017. His lone field goal at WIU was his 57th made kick of his career, moving him into 3rd all-time in school history past Mackenzie Hoambrecker (2000-02).
