  Running back Tru Wilson, a favorite of Michigan fans for his tough blocking and hard running, has transferred to Northern Colorado. The announcement was made Saturday on social media. Wilson, the 5-foot-10, 200-pound former walk-on out of Warren De La Salle, rushed for 221 yards on 44 carries and scored one touchdown for the Wolverines last season, ranking him third among the running backs. He also caught two passes for 14 yards. He played in 26 games during his Michigan career, including 21 at running back. In early January, Wilson announced his plans to move on as a graduate transfer. He will be immediately eligible. Michigan fans appreciating Wilson's tough running would chant "Truuuuu" when he had the ball. He broke his right hand in the season opener last season but continued to practice until he was fully healthy to return a month later against Rutgers. - Detroit News

  Michigan running back Tru Wilson says he's planning to transfer. He announced his decision Thursday on social media. "I appreciate everything the University of Michigan has done for me these last 4 years," Wilson said on his Twitter account. "I will graduate in the spring and will transfer to finish my last year of college football." Wilson rushed for 221 yards and a touchdown on 44 carries this season.   2019 AFCA DIVISION II COACHES' FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: DB Nick Ciccio, R-So., Colorado Mesa,...The Castle Pines, Colo. native tied for the Super Region IV lead in total interceptions with eight and finished fourth nationally in interceptions per game with 0.7. He had two interceptions in a game on three separate occasions during the year and returned three of his eight interceptions for touchdowns. Ciccio totaled 60 tackles and 22 total passes defended, which ranked second nationally, in his sophomore campaign.   Three-time Super Bowl champion Ed McCaffrey is the new head football coach at Northern Colorado. "I am excited to be joining the University of Northern Colorado as their Head Football Coach!" McCaffrey announced on Instagram, and the school confirmed his hiring minutes later via a news release. A news conference to formally introduce McCaffrey as the program's 16th head coach was scheduled for Friday. He replaces Earnest Collins Jr., who went 28-72 in nine seasons in Greeley, including 2-10 this season. The Bears are a member of the FCS's Big Sky Conference.

McCaffrey, who won two Super Bowls with the Denver Broncos and one with the San Francisco 49ers during his 14-year NFL career, spent the last two years as head football coach at powerhouse Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where his sons Max, Christian, Dylan and Luke all played. Christian McCaffrey is the star running back for the Carolina Panthers, who drafted him eighth overall out of Stanford in 2017. His older brother, Max, was a wide receiver at Duke who played two seasons in the NFL, with the Jaguars in 2017 and the 49ers in 2018.   2019 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): Defensive Back Michael Walker, Senior, Northern Colorado,...Walker was one of the best defensive backs in the Big Sky in 2019 ending up tied for the second-most interceptions with four and ranked second in the conference with 1.09 passes defended per game. He played a key role in both of the team's wins in 2019 with two interceptions in each, including a pick-six at Idaho State. Jackson was all over the field for the Bears asked to play in multiple roles in the defensive backfield. He ended up second on the team with 105 tackles and third in tackles for a loss with 4.0. Jackson added 2.0 sacks, three pass breakups, two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble to his season stat line.   2019 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Running Back Elijah Dotson, Junior, Sacramento State,...Dotson returned to the first team for the second consecutive seasons. One of the top running backs in the league, Dotson led the team with 738 rushing yards and also had a team high 69 receptions for 700 yards to give him 1,439 all-purpose yards. The junior led the Hornets with 11 total touchdowns during the season with seven rushing and five receiving scores. He averaged 4.9 rushing yards per attempt and had three games with 100 rushing yards. The Sacramento native broke out this year as a receiver in the team's new offense. He became the first Sacramento State running back to have 100 receiving yards in a game as he had 158 against Northern Colorado.   Northern Colorado coach Earnest Collins Jr. has been fired after nine seasons. Athletic director Darren Dunn announced Sunday that Collins would not return as the head coach. His teams posted a 28-72 record, including a 2-10 mark this season. Collins had been given a five-year contract extension in 2016 and led the team to its first two winning seasons as an FCS program in 2015 and 2016. During Collins' time as coach, the team's academic progress rate improved and the team graduation rate increased from 66% to 82%, the best in the Big Sky Conference during his tenure. Dunn said it was not an easy decision to make and thanked Collins for his dedication to the players. The school has retained a consulting firm to assist with the national search for a new coach. - AP College Football

  Elijah Dotson ran for 109 yards and two touchdowns and Sacramento State beat Idaho 31-7 on Saturday. The Hornets (8-3, 6-1) moved into a three-way tie with Montana and Weber State atop the Big Sky Conference standings with one game left in the regular season. Sacramento State beat the Grizzlies 49-22 on October 19 and lost 36-17 to the Wildcats on November 2. Caelan Barnes recovered a fumble forced by Marcus Bruce on the game's second play from scrimmage and six plays later Kevin Thompson's 4-yard touchdown run gave Sacramento State a 7-0 lead. Josiah Erickson recovered another Vandals fumble early in the second quarter at the 19 and, after the Hornets went three-and-out, Devon Medeiros made a 33-yard field goal but Idaho was called for roughing the kicker, giving Sacramento State a first-and-goal at the 6.

Two plays later, Dotson scored on a 4-yard run. Medeiros kicked a 33-yarder midway through the period and BJ Perkinson's 22-yard TD run with 54 seconds left in the half made it 24-0. Mason Petrino had for 133 yards passing, including a 24-yard touchdown to Cutrell Haywood, for Idaho (4-7, 2-5). Sacramento State, which went into the game ranked No. 6 in the FCS Coaches poll, limited the Vandals to 194 total yards and just eight first downs. The Hornets tied the program's single-season record for conference wins and set its Division I mark for overall wins. - AP College Football

  NOV 4 BIG SKY FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Northern Colorado cornerback Michael Walker played a key role in Northern Colorado's 26-20 win at Idaho State - the first since 2009. He made his presence known on the first play he was on the field when he forced a fumble setting up UNC's first touchdown of the game. The senior went on to record a 35-yard pick-six at the start of the second half to put UNC up 18-10. The second interception came in the fourth quarter when he picked off the ball at the two-yard line with Idaho State threatening to score. The interception helped UNC hold onto their 26-20 lead. Walker also had a pass breakup and three tackles.
