Tru Wilson, Northern Colorado, Player News

Running back Tru Wilson, a favorite of Michigan fans for his tough blocking and hard running, has transferred to Northern Colorado. The announcement was made Saturday on social media. Wilson, the 5-foot-10, 200-pound former walk-on out of Warren De La Salle, rushed for 221 yards on 44 carries and scored one touchdown for the Wolverines last season, ranking him third among the running backs. He also caught two passes for 14 yards. He played in 26 games during his Michigan career, including 21 at running back. In early January, Wilson announced his plans to move on as a graduate transfer. He will be immediately eligible. Michigan fans appreciating Wilson's tough running would chant "Truuuuu" when he had the ball. He broke his right hand in the season opener last season but continued to practice until he was fully healthy to return a month later against Rutgers. - Detroit News

Michigan running back Tru Wilson says he's planning to transfer. He announced his decision Thursday on social media. "I appreciate everything the University of Michigan has done for me these last 4 years," Wilson said on his Twitter account. "I will graduate in the spring and will transfer to finish my last year of college football." Wilson rushed for 221 yards and a touchdown on 44 carries this season. He was third on the team in yards rushing. The 17th-ranked Wolverines lost 35-16 to No. 9 Alabama in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1. - AP College Football

The running back room in Ann Arbor has seen some big changes from last season. Former starter Karan Higdon graduated, and backup Chris Evans has been suspended for the 2019 season, leaving Tru Wilson and Christian Turner as the only two running backs who have played from last season on the roster. Head coach Jim Harbaugh subtly announced on the Big Ten Network show BTN Live that he already has a starting running back, which is a surprise to hear since Harbaugh and many other coaches don’t name starters this early before the season. “Tru Wilson is our starter,” Harbaugh said. "He was our second-leading back last year and did a great job." - Wolverines Wire
