TCU quarterback Chandler Morris has a sprained left knee and will miss the next game for the Horned Frogs. Chandler got hurt late in the third quarter of TCU's season-opening 38-13 win at Colorado on Friday night. A defender landed on Chandler's leg at the end of a quarterback keeper. Coach Sonny Dykes said Monday that Chandler won't play in the home opener Saturday night against FCS team Tarleton. The quarterback will be week to week after that.

The Horned Frogs have an open date after the Tarleton game, then play at SMU on Sept. 24. They open Big 12 play Oct. 1 at home against ninth-ranked Oklahoma, the school Morris transferred from before the 2021 season. In the opener at Colorado, TCU went with Morris as the starter over Max Duggan, the fourth-year player who has 29 career starts for the Horned Frogs. Morris completed 13 of 20 passes for 111 yards, and ran four times for 18 yards against the Buffaloes before getting hurt. Duggan was 2-of-3 passing for 27 yards after that. - AP College Football

Through the first seven practices of fall camp, TCU has stuck to its process of rotating quarterbacks with the first-team offense everyday. That changed Wednesday when Chandler Morris took snaps with the first-team offense in back-to-back days. Morris has also been the primary first-team quarterback in the installation part of practice that occurs before warmups. Head coach Sonny Dykes said he hoped to see some separation this week between Morris and senior quarterback Max Duggan. The decision to let Morris take all of the first-team reps in the open media portion seems like a significant development as the Horned Frogs get deeper into fall camp.

Morris capped the first-team series with a nice completion to tight end Geor'Quarius Spivey near the endzone. Dykes downplayed the decision to let Morris lead the first-team offense in consecutive days. "I don't think so," Dykes said when asked if it was an indication he was close to making a decision. "I wasn't even aware, I think it's just we're rolling through the stuff and getting guys reps. I think we'll have to start to narrow some stuff down pretty quickly. I don't think that's any indication of anything." - Fort Worth Star

North Texas linebacker KD Davis has pulled his name out of the NCAA transfer portal and will return to play a fifth season with the Mean Green. Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed Davis' plans to the Denton Record-Chronicle on Monday evening. Davis' decision marks the latest turn in a wild week for one of UNT's top players. "I want to thank you so much for the last 4 years of my football career and every accomplishment that has come with being a part of the team," Davis wrote. "The decision has not been easy, but I have decided to enter the transfer portal to explore my options to play at another level and show my talents in a different environment." Davis quickly became one of the hot commodities on the transfer market. He reportedly visited Ole Miss and Texas A&M over the weekend.

Davis has since deleted the tweet saying that he was entering the transfer portal. He had yet to post a statement on what went into his decision to return to UNT, but he did acknowledge a projection that he would continue his career with the Mean Green. The decision is a key turn of events for UNT as it looks to build on its fifth bowl appearance in six seasons under coach Seth Littrell. Davis has been one of UNT's top players in each of the last three seasons and was a first-team All-Conference USA selection last year. The former Ennis standout led the Mean Green in both tackles with 121 and tackles for loss with 13 in 2021. - Denton Record

North Texas linebacker KD Davis, one of the Mean Green's top players, has entered the NCAA transfer portal and is poised to leave the program. Davis posted a note on his Instagram account early Thursday afternoon indicating that he has applied to the NCAA to transfer. A UNT source confirmed to the Denton Record-Chronicle a short time later that Davis is in the portal. He took to Twitter late in the afternoon and bid farewell to UNT. "I want to thank you so much for the last 4 years of my football career and every accomplishment that has come with being a part of the team," Davis wrote. "The decision has not been easy, but I have decided to enter the transfer portal to explore my options to play at another level and show my talents in a different environment." Other programs will now be able to contact Davis, who could remove his name from the portal and return to UNT for his senior season this fall, a move that seems unlikely.

UNT removed Davis from its online roster late Thursday afternoon. The deadline for players to transfer and be eligible for the 2022 season was May 1. Davis will have to apply for a waiver from the NCAA if he transfers to another school, which would help him with the process. He has graduated from UNT. Davis has ranked among UNT's top players for the last three years and was the Mean Green's lone first-team All-Conference USA selection last season. The former Ennis standout led UNT in total tackles with 121 and tackles for loss with 13. - Denton Record

Mose has been a fixture on UNT's offensive line for years and started all 13 games last season at either center or guard. UNT relied on its running game during its five-game winning streak and averaged 283 rushing yards per game in that span. Mose was a big reason for UNT's success and was a second-team All-C-USA selection. - Denton Record
