Coastal Carolina has locked up coach Jamey Chadwell for a few more years after he led the school to an undefeated season. The school announced it has extended Chadwell's contract through 2027, a move to take the 43-year coach off the market for Power Five openings like Auburn. Financial terms of Chadwell’s new agreement were not disclosed. Chadwell's name had been mentioned in two Southeastern Conference coaching searches, at South Carolina and Vanderbilt. The Gamecocks recently hired Oklahoma assistant Shane Beamer while the Commodores named Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea as coach. - AP College Football

DEC 14 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grayson McCall, Coastal Carolina, (#10, Fr, QB - Indian Trail, N.C.),...For the third time this season, redshirt freshman quarterback Grayson McCall was named SBC Offensive Player of the Week after leading a late fourth-quarter comeback to defeat Troy 42-38 on the road. McCall finished the game going 24-of-29 for 338 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also rushed 10 times for 40 yards and a TD in the win. After throwing just his second interception of the season which allowed Troy to take the lead with 1:20 left in the game, McCall answered by going 4-of-4 for 71 yards to lead the Chants' game-winning drive.

He connected with Jaivon Heiligh for a 23-yard touchdown pass to cap the five-play, 75-yard drive that took just 45 seconds to put the Chants back on top for good 42-38. McCall's 24 pass completions and 338 yards were both career highs and his three touchdowns gives him eight games this season with two touchdown passes or more. With the win, the Chants finish the regular season undefeated at 11-0. The perfect regular season is the first-ever in Coastal Carolina's program history and the first-ever in Sun Belt Conference history. - Sun Belt Football

The first top-10 shakeup in more than a month pushed Coastal Carolina to No. 9 in The Associated Press college football poll on Sunday. Alabama was a unanimous No. 1, followed by Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson and Texas A&M as those teams held their spots for a sixth straight week. Surprising losses by Florida and Miami shuffled the rest of the top 10. No. 6 Cincinnati and No. 7 Indiana each moved up one spot and No. 8 Iowa State jumped two. Then come the unbeaten Chanticleers (11-0), the first Sun Belt Conference team to crack the AP's top 10. Georgia landed at No. 10 ahead of Florida at 11. The Gators dropped five spots after losing in bizarre and dramatic fashion to LSU in the fog Saturday night. Miami plummeted 10 spots to No. 19 after getting blown out by North Carolina. The Tar Heels moved up four spots to No. 16. - AP College Football

Jaivon Heiligh caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Grayson McCall with 45 seconds left and No. 11 Coastal Carolina preserved its first perfect regular season with a 42-38 win over Troy on Saturday. McCall needed just 45 seconds to move the Chanticleers (11-0, 8-0 Sun Belt Conference), who didn't have any timeouts, 75 yards for the winning score. He completed all four of his passes on the drive, three of them to Heiligh. They survived a sandwich game between an upset of then-No. 8 BYU and the league title game against No. 17 Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Trojans (5-6, 3-4) didn't make it easy for the highest-ranked team to visit Veterans Memorial Stadium. Backup quarterback Jacob Free, who replaced an injured Gunnar Watson in the fourth quarter, hit Tray Eafford on a 6-yard touchdown with 1:20 left. The play was set up with an interception by star middle linebacker Carlton Martial, who also had 21 tackles. McCall completed 24 of 29 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns. Heligh caught 11 passes for 138 yards and two TDs. McCall also ran for a 2-yard score with 5:03 left for a seemingly safe 35-23 lead. - Coastal Carolina/AP College Football
