  Matt Vezza threw for 230 yards, including a passing and a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter for New Hampshire in a 24-10 win over Campbell on Saturday. Campbell (2-6, 2-2 in CAA) was ahead 10-9 heading into the fourth quarter, thanks to a 9-yard TD run from JJ Cowan. Vezza found Myles Thomason for a 4-yard touchdown pass with under nine minutes to play. Trailing 17-10, the Camels turned the ball over on downs on their own 6-yard line, setting up Vezza's rushing touchdown with under two minutes to play.

Mezza finished with 230 yards passing and 60 on the ground. Kicker Nick Reed went 3 for 4, with field goals from 36, 50 and 37 yards out. Campbell quarterback Mike Chandler II went 9-for-12 passing with 134 yards. Cowan led the Camels with 54 rushing yards.   Matt Vezza threw for 190 yards and a touchdown, and he added a score on the ground to help New Hampshire beat Albany 24-6 on Saturday in a Coastal Athletic Association opener for both teams. New Hampshire had a touchdown drive in each of the first three quarters - with each being 12-plus plays and 75-plus yards. Denzell Gibson scored from the 1-yard line, Ryan Blagg caught a pass from 6 yards out on the 17th play of the drive, and Matt Vezza added a 3-yard run to cap a 97-yard drive. Nick Reed added a 47-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter for a 24-point lead. Myles Thomason rushed for 77 yards for New Hampshire (3-2, 1-0). Chase Wilson had 74 yards receiving. Colin Parachek threw for a touchdown and an interception for Albany (1-4, 0-1). The sophomore also hit kicks from 33 and 30 yards before making a career-long 50-yarder to tie the game with 9:16 left.   Nick Reed kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired to lift New Hampshire to a 19-16 win over Holy Cross on Saturday night. The kick capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive that started when Holy Cross missed a 34-yard field goal with 1:40 remaining. Reed tied the game with a 50-yard field goal in the middle of the fourth quarter. He also connected from 33 yards on the last play of the first half for a 10-9 lead and made it 13-9 with a 30-yarder late in the third quarter.

Jayden Clerveaux's 1-yard touchdown run put the Crusaders on top early in the fourth quarter. Holy Cross (0-2) started the scoring less than two minutes into the game when Eli Thompson had a 28-yard interception return. The Wildcats (2-0) quickly got that back on the first play after a 17-yard kickoff return when Caleb Burke found Josh Fillion for a 53-yard score. Holy Cross finished with 251 yards on 58 snaps and New Hampshire had 279 on 54. The teams combined for just seven punts but were a combined 4 of 23 on third down. - AP College Football

  Matt Vezza threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start as New Hampshire defeated North Carolina Central 27-10 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night. Vezza and the Wildcats scored twice in just over three minutes late in the third quarter, with the sophomore taking one in himself before connecting with tight end Peyton Strickland on a 65-yard catch-and-run.

Myles Thomason finished with 76 yards rushing on 22 attempts, and Vezza added 36 yards on 12 carries. Caleb Burke led all receivers with five receptions for 78 yards. Trevor Barry had 10 total tackles and seven solo tackles, and Justice Akinmoladun, Darren Burton II, and Zach Garron each had one sack for New Hampshire. Walker Harris threw for 172 yards with one touchdown and one interception for the Eagles. He connected with Mehki Wall on a 65-yard touchdown in the third to cut N.C.   2023 CAA FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Dylan Laube, New Hampshire,...Laube led the FCS in all-purpose yardage for the second consecutive season with 2,095 yards in 10 games. The versatile senior ranked third nationally in kickoff return average (31.1 ypr) and 16th in punt return average (11.2 ypr), which included a 100-yard kickoff return for a TD vs. Delaware and a 58-yard punt return for a TD vs. Stonehill. Laube also led New Hampshire in rushing with 749 yards and 9 TD's and receiving with 68 receptions for 699 yards and 7 TD's. - CAA Football

  2022 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: Josiah Silver, New Hampshire, DL, So.,...Silver is 15th nationally in sacks (0.77 per game and 28th in tackles for loss (1.3 per game); those numbers rank third in the CAA in sacks and fourth in tackles for loss. He leads all Wildcats with 14 tackles for loss and ranks second in sacks (8.5). Silver is fourth in both solo (27) and total (42) tackles. His other stats include three quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, a blocked punt and a pass breakup. Silver recorded a season-high six tackles, including five solo stops, at the University of Richmond; three of those tackles were behind the line of scrimmage with one sack and he also had a pair of quarterback hurries against the Spiders. Silver recorded at least one tackle for loss each of the first nine games of the season and a sack in 8 of 11 games.   2022 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: Dylan Ruiz, New Hampshire, DL, So.,...Ruiz is No. 5 in the nation in sacks (1.00 per game) as well as 37th in tackles for loss (1.2 per game); those numbers ranks second in the CAA in sacks and fifth in tackles for loss. He has a team-leading 11 sacks and ranks second with 13.5 tackles for loss. Ruiz ranks second in total tackles and assisted tackles (22), as well as tied for second in solo tackles (30). His other stats include a team-leading seven quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.

Ruiz has sacked the quarterback in 7 of 11 games this season and recorded multiple sacks in a game three times, including a career high of three at Towson. He finished with 2.5 sacks against Elon University and two vs. Stony Brook University. Ruiz elevated his play the last two weeks of the regular season. He made a career-high 11 tackles, including 3.15 for loss with one sack, and two quarterback hurries Nov. 19 at Maine. He ranks second on the team in receptions (40) and is third in receiving yards (319). Laube is UNH's first 1,000-yard rusher since 2016, when Dalton Crossan finished with 1,281. He surpassed 200 all-purpose yards three times with a season high of 281 at Maine in addition to 250 at Towson and 202 at UAlbany. During the season, Laube was a two-time CAA Offensive Player of the Week and was named Special Team Player of the Week once.   Dylan Laube ran for three touchdowns and pulled in an 87-yard touchdown pass to lead New Hampshire to a 52-42 win over Fordham in a first-round game in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs on Saturday. The win sends the Wildcats into a second-round matchup December 3 with undefeated Patriot League champion Holy Cross, ranked No. 6. Max Brosmer dumped a short pass to Laube on the Wildcats' second play from scrimmage and the running back won a foot race to the corner, then raced down the sideline for an 87-yard touchdown - high-fiving his blocking back at the 20 on his way to the end zone. Brosmer hit Sean Coyne for a short touchdown and connected with Heron Maurisseau on a 65-yard score to put New Hampshire up 21-7 after one quarter.

Maurisseau added a 71-yard run for a touchdown on the opening play of the second half and Laube's third rushing touchdown, an 18-yard burst with 4:10 left pushed the lead to 52-34. Brosmer was 18 of 34 passing for 351 yards and three touchdowns. Laube carried 29 times for 157 yards. Fordham's Tim DeMorat threw for 330 yards, completing 25 of 41 attempts, with three touchdowns but was picked off on back-to-back possessions in the first half. Fotis Kokosioulis had two short touchdowns for the Rams and caught 14 passes for 132 yards.
