  07/16/19 - Troy AndersenSr/2022, Montana State, 6-4, 243 (DS#4 OLB) + More +

2019 PRESEASON ALL-BIG SKY FOOTBALL TEAM: FB: Troy Andersen, Jr., Montana State,...It may be a new year and a different position, but Montana State's Troy Andersen enters 2019 with the same expectations for Troy Andersen. Montana State's star who enters the 2019 season projected as a fullback on offense and a linebacker on defense was one of five Bobcats selected for the Preseason All-Big Sky Conference Team, announced Monday.

Andersen's likely offensive role aligns him with Isaiah Ifanse, who set MSU's freshman rushing record last season, in the backfield. Fourth-year head coach Jeff Choate likes the possibilities. "Troy is a dynamic player," Choate said of his star junior, "and it's incumbent on us as coaches to find ways for him to impact games the most. That may be as a running back in a two-back set, in a one-back set, as a tight end, as a receiver. He gives us opportunities and options." Andersen is listed as MSU's starting Sam linebacker entering 2019, as well. - Montana State Football

  07/16/19 - Bryce SterkSr/2020, Montana State, 6-4, 262 (DS#20 DE) + More +

2019 PRESEASON ALL-BIG SKY FOOTBALL TEAM: OLB: Bryce Sterk, Sr., Montana State,...Sterk finished second in the league in sacks and tackles-for-loss in 2018 as MSU's Buck, a hybrid linebacker-defensive end position, and earned preseason all-league honors as an outside linebacker. All three of MSU's defensive selections are seniors. - Montana State Football

Some Scouts think the former 3* Washington transfer is too stiff for OLB. We'll see and know more off Road grades/updates in the fall. Sterk is up there in the mix for top FCS defenseive end, Day 3 before underlassmen factor in.

  07/16/19 - Brayden KonkolSr/2020, Montana State, 6-2, 216 (DS#15 SS) + More +

2019 PRESEASON ALL-BIG SKY FOOTBALL TEAM: S: Brayden Konkol, Sr., Montana State,...Three Bobcats made the defensive squad, two from a secondary that returns intact in 2019. Safety Brayden Konkol led the Cats with 93 tackles. "One of our strengths this season is experience across the board," Choate said. "Having experience in the secondary is such a positive, and Munchie (Filer), Brayden, Jahque (Alleyne, at safety), Tyrel Thomas and Damien Washington have all had success as starters. Bryce Sterk is a dynamic pass rusher, and that combination, pass rush and coverage, gives you a chance for success." - Montana State Football

  07/16/19 - Mitch BrottSr/2020, Montana State, 6-5, 300 (DS#48 OT) + More +

2019 PRESEASON ALL-BIG SKY FOOTBALL TEAM: OT: Mitch Brott, Sr., Montana State,...Senior tackle Mitch Brott is the other Bobcat offensive player chosen for preseason All-Big Sky honors. Brott has started all 35 games during his time at MSU, and was Second Team All-Big Sky a season ago. Brott led an offensive line that helped MSU lead the league in fewest sacks allowed while compiling the third-most rushing yards in the conference. "Mitch has been a reliable player for us," Choate said, "and a really good one. He plays with that edge, and helps set the tone for our offense. I look forward to Mitch having a great senior season." - Montana State Football

Jason Scrempos, a defensive lineman from the University of Washington, has joined the Montana State football program as a graduate transfer, MSU coach Jeff Choate announced Thursday. Originally from Milpitas, California, Scrempos redshirted at UW in 2015 and played on the Huskies' defensive line from 2016-18. Scrempos played in eight games, getting a tackle against BYU in 2018. He was a MaxPreps All-Northern California selection as a senior at Milpitas High in 2014. He was the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2014, leading his league in sacks and finishing with 55 tackles. He notched a dozen sacks with 99 total tackles as a junior. Scrempos also earned honorable mention all-league honors in basketball, and threw the shot and discus for the track team.

"Jason played on Pac 12 Championship teams at the University of Washington," Choate said. "We expect him to have an immediate impact for us, and solidify the interior defensive line. He's 6-6, 300 pounds, and he can play the nose or tackle. Jason played at a high level in high school and is familiar with our system, and he adds immediate pop to our defense. We're very excited to add Jason to our program." Scrempos comes to MSU with one season of eligibility remaining. - Montana State Football
